Houston Nutt says Ole Miss returning to Cotton Bowl. first back-to-back Jan. bowls in 40 years.
With Ole Miss seemingly in the Cotton, the SEC bowl picture is shaking out. The SEC Championship Game participants will go to the BCSCG / Sugar, LSU to the Capital One Bowl, Ole Miss to the Cotton Bowl, Tennessee / Georgia to the Peach / Outback Bowl, and it will be rounded out by Auburn, Arkansas, Kentucky, and South Carolina heading to either Shreveport, Birmingham, Memphis, or Nashville.

They should do it this way in my opinion...
Kentucky to Music City
Georgia to Chik-Fil-A
Tennesee to Outback
Auburn to Liberty
Arkansas to Independence
South Carolina to Papajohns.com
I think So. Carolina will go to the Music City Bowl.
….rumor here in Florida is that an opponent may be FSU. Bowden vs. Spurrier one last time. It’d sell tickets I suppose.
I'm thinkin (and hoping)...
UT – Outback
LSU – Cap One
UGA – Peach
OM – Cotton
Ark – Independence
So Car – Music City
Barn – Papa Johns
UA – Rose
UF – Sugar

Actually UA wouldn't be the "Rose" officially
There is a Rose Bowl and then the BCS championship game at the Rose Bowl a week later.
"So I want everybody to think here for a second, how much does this game mean to you? 'Cause if it means something to you, you can't stand still. You understand? You play fast! You play strong! You go out there and dominate the man you're playing against, and you make his ass quit! That's our trademark! That's our M.O.... as a team! That's what people know us as!" - Coach Nick Saban before the 2008 LSU game.

Congratulations
to Houston Nutt and his Rebels for a fine season. They earned their spot in the Cotton Bowl.
MATRIX: Bennett, I thought you were--
BENNETT: Dead? You thought wrong. Ever since you had me thrown out of the unit, I've been waiting to pay you back. Do you know what today is, Matrix? Payday.

Has Auburn projected to face Iowa State in Independence Bowl, could be interesting…

CBS Sports...
…also has Verne and Gary, and yankee women wearing eye black, so don’t put too much stock in it….

No way in hell that happens...
… in my opinion.
I’m sure the Shreveport people would love it, but keep in mind that the conference office does play a role in bowl selection, and I think they would probably go ape shit on the Weedeater Bowl if they landed a Chizik v. Iowa State match-up. Besides, that bowl is hanging onto its SEC affiliation by a thread anyway, and I highly doubt they do anything to jeopardize that.
Those guys got a Northern Illinois v. Louisiana Tech match-up last year, and if they piss off the SEC good enough, they may very well get that from here on out. For that reason alone I don’t think it would happen.

why would the conferences be so opposed to that matchup?
Seems like it would draw enormous publicity and large (maybe record?) crowds, i.e. $$$, and in the end, isn’t that what this is all about?

Just not good...
… it creates a hell of a lot of controversy and potential bad publicity for one of your member institutions (relatively speaking). So why do something like that? The payout remains the same regardless of who goes there.
And if it really would generate truly enormous publicity and a huge crowd, then maybe you would do it, but realistically that’s not happening. An Iowa State v. Auburn match-up only draws so much.

ah, gotcha now
the SEC doesn’t want to take the chance of negative publicity from any direction…..guess that’s why they suspended an officiating crew and issued the “Kiffin Doctrine” this season? :) just messing with ya OTS, I don’t think Slive would allow it either, and I honestly don’t think it’d be worth a shit as a game anyways.

It's the same reason...
…we cancelled our game with UTEP a few years ago. Nothing good was going to come out of it for either party. Too much negativity for both parties to remember.

And, yes,
the conference would go apeshit over that matchup. With the new SEC/ESPN/ABC/CBS/BCS hegemony, the Conference is taking image control to heights unseen this side of Pyongyang.

How worried...
…do you think the powers-that-be are about their affiliation with the SEC? The SEC affiliation is gone next year, one way or the other. By my recollection from news earlier in the year, the Independence Bowl drops SEC and Big 12 ties… they will be picking up an ACC team and an MWC team from 2010-onwards.
