The mindset of Bama's O-Line
“One of the main things we focus on is we’re just trying to get the running back through one gap,” Johnson said. “They can have all the people they want to up there, but they can’t fit nine people into one gap. If we can get the running back that one seam then we can be successful.”
I like this thinking from the leader of our OL. If Ingram, Upchurch, et al, can break through that one gap -- with the LSU defense stacked up against the line -- they will be breaking off some long runs. If we're successful at doing that, we may not NEED McElroy to throw deep.
The one thing that concerns me is that this is obviously something that's been coached into Mike's head. ... which makes me think that all of Saban's talk about needing to throw it deep and open up the offense may just be a smokescreen. Of course, if it works, who cares?

The only reason Bama didn't throw deep against UT was........
Tennessee plays two safety’s and they play them very deep at that. So what does this mean? It means that when any WR runs the deep rout no matter which side of the field he’s on there is a safety over the top makeing for double coverage. Did I mention one of those safety’s was Eric berry.
I wouldn’t put too much thought into Bama not throwing the deep ball because of GMac’s lack of confidence. Against Tennessee it was an effort to keep Eric Berry out of the play and minimize possible INT’s. I expect to see more deep routes this week against LSU’s man press coverage. Julio and Maze and Hanks have great success against man coverage and one deep safety.
Your temper brings dishonor to my happy mooshu palace.
