As usual, the Nicktator gets it right
A la AL.Com
"I mean, can somebody stand up and fight for these guys and what they do for the game -- and probably get less for it than anybody?" Saban said.
His voice rising to a shout, Saban pointed to how little the officials make for the trouble, saying, "If I was an official, and I was making what I made officiating because I love the game and I love doing it, and I was getting criticized by the media - including our announcers on TV -- like these guys are getting criticized, I'd step back and say, 'I think I'll go to the lake this weekend. You can have this.' That's what I'd do."
Now, can we put this ridiculous nonsense to rest? People get screwed, and we're still not sure if this was even a hose-job, unlike the no-call PI in 2004, or the no-call push-off offensive PI in 2005. Sheesh.

Having only just now watched the replay
I have to say I think it should have been an INT, without much of a doubt to me. I certainly think that the video supports calling it an INT. Would it have mattered? LSU wasn’t moving at all, and they didn’t move at all afterward. But this “ridiculousness” will continue as long as bad calls are made in pressure situations.

I still don't know
Foot in? I believe so (but not for the “divot”). Possession? Depends on the angle. From 45 degrees, it doesn’t appear so. From the front, it does not. And that, Bobo, is what makes it inconclusive: Not only different people coming to different conclusions, but doing so for different reasons.

See
I disagree, I do think that he had full possession. There really wasn’t anything to lead me to think that he didn’t have possession after he got both hands on the ball. And the line looked clear to me, that he was inbounds.
I believe the refs signaled that the ball was caught, but out-of-bounds, also.

Which is what they’d signal if he didn’t have possession when his first foot came down.
I'm wrong all the time.

I gotta say...
I think he touched on something that is noteworthy – tv commentary. Our beloved Danielson is oh so fond of providing his opinion on every call. While good folks like ourselves know better than to lend much weight to anything Gary says, I can’t say that everyone else has that much sense.
Too bad he’s out of Slive’s jurisdiciton.
Our beloved Danielson is oh so fond of providing his opinion on every call.
Isn’t that kind of, you know, his job? :P

No. To give his opinion.
But mainly I was kidding.

I still get furious
when I see Corey Webster.
That was one of the most blatant PI I have ever seen.
Terrence Cody didn't like what time the sun came up today. So he reached up, and smacked it down.
Just for fun's sake
How about the calls in that one game, I think it was Oregon v Oklahoma? Anyone remember that game?

Don't get me started
I’m still steamed about a non-call for 12 men on the field against Arkansas from 1995.

Yes, that's true
if Instant replay had been in effect, we would have won that game, no doubt.

And the phantom
holding in, was it 99?

Heard something on CSS
that no one else has mentioned. One commentator on a sports talk show here in Atlanta mentioned that he thought that Julio touched the ball while he was out of bounds, either before or simultaneously with Peterson. If so, then the ball was dead immediately, and it didn’t matter what the LSU defender did. I went back and looked at the play, and it does appear that Julio has a hand on the ball at the same time that Peterson catches it, and he has at least one foot out of bounds. If that is the actual reason for not overturning the call on the field, the refs should have mentioned that, so maybe not. But, the guy makes a good point.
Dr. BamaFrazier is IN!
I heard that too
But I couldn’t find an angle where it looked like that was actually the case.

Speaking of commentators...
I know this is off topic a bit, but how cool would it be to hear Coach Saban call a game? I would LOVE it if he would change places with Verne one day…

I'd love to hear
Just about any coach call a game. It’d be .. interesting, I think. Either interestingly awesome or interestingly hilarious.

Aight, number 42 is just not executing out there relative to his job of stopping the run, aight. He needs to focus on his technique, fill his gap, and dominate his opponent, aight. No mental focus, no intensity. His coach will not be pleased and happy relative to his performance today.
