Carlos Dunlap Arrested

I don't know how you could let him play after getting picked up for dui on the Tuesday before the game. It wasn't just driving and got pulled over he was asleep at the wheel. In a way I'm glad he might not play but in anthor way it would slightly cheapen a victory. I am sure that Florida has good depth but he was the defensive mvp of the champinship game last year. Here is a link to the piece from the Gainesville paper. How much do you think this helps us?

WOW!

My guess is that he will be suspended for the first quarter. I just wanted to be the first one to get that joke out there.

Na

he’ll ask Dunlap what he thinks his punishment should be, and Meyer will go with that.

no he will not ask

because the player will likely self-discipline tougher than what Meyer has in mind.

Either it’ll be handled internally or they wait until ’all the facts are in, which will be sometime in mid-January!!

Cheapen the win?

At this point it doesn’t matter. The only way the win means less is if Tebow gets hurt in practice and can’t play. And outside of the entire defensive 1st team not playing, nothing will cheapen this win. But not having Dunlap will def help our oline.

I as a fan would feel bummed and cheapened if Javy or Rolando went down for something so stupid. I know they have depth and maybe cheapened isn’t the right word.

I think it is just like last year’s game, without Harvin. I do not care under what circumstance Alabama wins, as long as Alabama wins.

You think a guy who has never started a game, is better than Tim Tebow? Understandably there are bunch of Tebow-haters, but you should not underestimate just how good of a player Tebow is.

by chinesedentist on Dec 1, 2009 9:26 AM CST up reply actions

It's not his decision

It’s a university issue – Dunlap may get expelled from school. The one thing that could save him (from conviction and expulsion) is that he refused to take the test. This is a good lesson for everybody. (1) don’t be an idiot and drink and drive. (2) if you are an idiot, and get pulled over, don’t be a bigger idiot and take the breathalizer. (3) on second thought, if you drive drunk then DO take the breathalizer because you deserve what’s coming to you before you hurt or kill an innocent person.

Dunlap doesn’t play which hurts alot, but not as bad as losing Spikes or Haden. He’s probably the 3rd most important player on our defense. Now it means that Cunningham is really going to have to play our of his mind.

Completely off topic, but I've figured out the Mallet love

Closing moments of the Who game, 3rd and 20, Mallet scrambles inside the pocket, rolls right and jsut flips it across his body into the soft spot of the zone for a gain of 22. His arm is amazing. The velocity was deceptive…and impressive.

We play 10 BCS teams! Think about that, 10! We also play six teams next year who have a bye week before we play them! On top of that we play at LSU, at Tennessee, at Arkansas, and Florida at home. You're

right with home field flipping on us in 2010. A lot of teams do lose some key players. UT will be breaking in a new QB and losing Hardesty & Berry. LSU loses Brandon LaFell, Keiland Williams, Charles Scott, Ciron Black, R. Alem and a few off their D line like Al Woods and Charles Alexander. Auburn will be breaking in a new QB as well and also loses Antonio Coleman, Ben Tate & Tommy Trott. Arky will once again be dangerous.

DUI Arrest

Honestly, the best thing that could happen would be for Meyer to not suspend him, for Alabama anyways, or suspend him for a half. I just cannot see that happening, though. The media backlash would be very intense. Not only would Meyer have to answer a whole bunch of questions on the topic, but so would the players leading up to the game. It would become a side story onto itself.

Dunlap

Aside from the obvious team violation, he faces DUI charges that can be elevated to DWI along with underage drinking. Meyer has very little wiggle room with this one. Per a report from AL.COM >> http://blog.al.com/bamabeat/2009/12/report_dunlaps_father_says_his.html

that Dunlap is his 3rd best player and probably the biggest NFL player they have. They can not afford to suspend such a great athlete to make a point so they will put off his discipline until January 10.

neither will we...

if Johnson is truly gimpy, then that’s a zero sum game. And, we’re still missing Hightower.

Sep 26...

…against Arky. Here’s a great article on Hightower and his contribution to the team in a different capacity.

You're sweet...

…and I’m in the midst of withdrawal right now. How I would love a good bloody mary and some Tide-centric conversation at Egans!!! It’s tough living in Gaytor country.

And, it's a bone of contention as to whether it was a dirty shot

I think it was clean, as the Arkie guy hit him low, but squared up, in his face. Others disagree, presumably because the outcome of the play was an injury. But it was a pretty clear cut block on this end.

Why wish death on a Barner

for what a Hawg did?

Not that Pugh doesn’t deserve to be kneecapped…

One

can only hope that if he gets the chance to play on Sundays, he tries out his MO there. If he does, I doubt he gets a second chance.

That's what I don't understand

he’s a good center, gets very good leverage and a good push. Why do that? But, I agree in the slightly more vigilante NFL, I’d love to see what happens the first time he tries that.

After

listening to his father on JOX some time ago, I think he’s just your average grade A dirtbag.

We'll have to ask Kleph,

as the arbiter of all things Auburn-loathing: if he thinks its ok, then white hot hatred and wishes of ill-will may continue.

The iron bowl really soured me. They were playing exceptionally dirty…even for the barn. It wasn’t just one guy, either. It was the whole team.
