One moment for Bobby Bowden
In another universe, he would have been our outgoing coach of the past 2+ decades. Goodbye, big guy. You always deserved better than you got, and gave more that you received.
Read about how he almost became our coach in '86 here, it agrees with what an old Bama man once told me, so I believe it even though it comes from Terry B.
Sure enough, as we all sat in the room at the Winfrey Hotel, the call did in fact come. A big Alabama booster, who was close to the president of the university and an old friend of dad's, called and said that Alabama was looking for a new head coach and dad was their choice. I remember my father getting off the phone and saying, "I can't believe this, but they want me to be the head coach, and I have to go talk to some guys about the job." I distinctly remember him being excited, because he told them that he did not want to be interviewed – he had a good job and was very happy at FSU. He said he would only go talk with them if the job was going to be offered. And he was assured that it was.

Despite my disdain for his sons, I’ve always really liked and respected Coach Bobby Bowden. He is one of the true characters of college football, he ruled the cfb universe right when I started becoming a huge fan, and more importantly than that – nobody gives a better interview. The thing I will miss the most is his pre- and post-halftime talks with the sideline reporters. He’s simply an enjoyable person to listen to. Even when he’s rambling aimlessly.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to ask cjbama to change his/her screen name on this board. I’m kidding. Kind of.
Y'all are not the same person?
Wow! And all this time…

Could you imagine......
If Coach Bowden had come to Bama so many years ago, and we were the ones going through all this mess. UUGGHHH, I shutter at the thought. Bless your pea picking heart Bobby and Nole fans, dad gummit!!!!!
I don't mind bad news, and I don't mind good news, but I can't stand surprises! Coach Nick Saban

I really like him, and respect him even more. He sealed the deal with me when I saw his portrayal in We Are Marshall
True,
but we would have had about 8 NCs over the past 25 years to console us, so I’d call it about even.

Ah, at Bama
he would have had more than 2, though. Maybe less than 8, but more than 2 is a pretty safe bet. As above “The saddest words…”
