Prediction Time

Ladies and Gentleman, Boys and Girls...it is that time again!!  The SEC Championship, The Rematch!!

That being said, lets here your predictions.  And I will start them off...

1.  Upchurch has a huge game...receiving out of the backfield.

2.  Ingram and Richardson split time and account for a buck 40 in rushing yards

3.  McElroy has a great game, leading the tide up and down for 240 yards.

4.  Tebow is introduced to his new best friend, Mr. McClain who spies him all day, essentially shutting down the run game and scramble and forces Tebow to win with his arm, thus ensuring a Bama Victory

In all seriousness though,

I would have preferred our last regular season game to have been a glorified scrimmage in front of 90,000 adoring fans and they be the ones who got lured into a back alley knife fight.

No specifics, really

But, I hearken back to 1994 and will use that final score, with the teams reversed

Referring to Cecil Hurt, and his affinity for historically influenced scores.

It has a nice symmetry though

Jay Barker’s senior year, balanced offense, good but somewhat untested defense, going against a coach just getting revved up at his new digs. And, the newer guy won.

Same thing, but flip the script.

Agreed.

That 1994 game is the first SECCG I remember attending. I was 7 at the time, and I don’t remember too terribly much of the game, but I remember the subdued chanting of “Roll Tide, Roll Tide” as we exited the stadium. It was a strange feeling.

by Captain_Obvious on Dec 1, 2009 6:00 PM CST reply actions

I rarely even predict scores, but for the hell of it, here is my prediction of the entire game

Alabama 34
Florida 28

No one ever leads by more than one score, and the game ends with our defense making a stand and keeping Florida out of the end zone. Marcel Dareus has a key sack at some point. On offense, we pass to set up the run, but in the fourth quarter we don’t get cute. We learn from last year, and stick to our bread and butter and run it down their throats, a few yards at a time, with a high percentage pass thrown in for good measure.

Scoring breakdown:
FG
Homerun pass to Maze – GMac finally hits him in stride
Ingram touchdown run
Ingram touchdown screen pass
Julio busts open a short yardage pass and takes off for a TD
FG

Player of the game on defense: McClain
Player of the game on offense: Ingram, but case could be made for McElroy

Weren’t the 3rd Saturday and the Iron Bowl enough final play dramatics for one season?

I can just hear Verne and Gary talking about how this is Tim Tebow and Florida’s time and how this is one of the drives that will go down in Florida history, but our defense stands strong in the end. Other than a blowout, which I don’t see happening, that would be the sweetest ending for me – our biggest strength vs. their biggest weapon.

31 to 20

just like last year, only reversed cause Bama owns this 4th quarter and rolls to an 11 point victory.

(i gotta say i feel a lot better about GMAC’s odds of a having a good game with Dunlap out… sorry to say but his mistake could have a tangible effect on the outcome)

Especially if Johnson is banged up. I have no doubt that Trattou will play a decent game, but I see him as more of a banger inside than a rush end.

I find it comical that

every single one of you so far has predicted that Bama will score more points Saturday than UF has allowed to any team this entire season (the most so far has been ARkansas’ 20 and that required 6 fumbles). Bama is in the championship game for the same reason UF is…..defense. Plain and simple. These are the 2 best defenses in the nation (even without Dunlap).

UF 17
Bama 13

And at least one of the 3 TDs scored is either defensive or special teams.

Seriously

Dont we need to be realistic here and say we dont have a clue who will win this football game. Afterall they are the most evened matched teams I have seen in a ball game in a long time. My wish is that Alabama embarrasses Tebow and the Gators but we all know that is very unlikely.

by Jasands50 on Dec 2, 2009 6:07 AM CST reply actions

I hope that I am wrong...

but I am going to go against the grain and say that Florida is going to win. It is going to he one hell of a defensive game. final score will be a 1 – 4 point difference lets say

UF – 18
Ala – 16

Its Tebow and they are not going to lose – look forward to seeing Florida play Texas – should be exciting.

by MDBSax on Dec 2, 2009 7:12 AM CST reply actions

Tebow can and does lose...

lost to OM, lost 5 the year before. He can be beaten. It’s not like they’ve smoked everyone they’ve played; they’ve had crappy games against good defenses. I expect this to be no different. The difference is, we’re better than So. Car. or LSU or Tennessee.

But I still think we have a great chance to come out on top in this one. Should be a very close game either way.

Reality is

that anyone predicting a game within three points isn’t making a prediction at all. Football is a funny enough sport that there’s no possible way anyone could predict the winner in advance of such a close contest. I predict Alabama 20-19.

Low scoring game, defense…

Bama 17 (give or take 3)

UF 14 (give or take 3)

by String30 on Dec 2, 2009 10:26 AM CST reply actions

Tebow

has been susceptible to fumbling because of his low starting point in his delivery, and the fact that his protection is not as good as it was last year. I think we get pressure on Tebow and force at least one fumble that leads to a score. I think Bama’s offense will throw some things out there that we haven’t tried all year. One of the things I remember from last year’s SEC CG is how we had success running on the right side of the line. We knew UF had seen us on film for 12 games running primarily to Smith’s side. I think we scout our own tendencies in a similar way, and do something UF isn’t prepared for. I also think this because I don’t believe our coaches think we can line up and beat their defense; we’ll need to get creative on some level.

I think UF will have some success moving the ball on us. I know their offense isn’t invincible like it was last year, particularly in the run game. But this is a difficult offense to stop because they use the entire field. I think we slow them down, but we don’t stop them. I also think Riley Cooper makes some big plays on 3rd down and scores a TD. I also think Brandon James makes a big play in the return game.

My score:

Bama – 23
UF – 17

It will be like UGA last year(4 quarters of it)…except no opposing kick off or punt return for TDs…Bama’s best showing and most complete game in 2 + years.

REALLY? NO? well then, maybe the Tide will win by less than 6… ROLL TIDE!

Tigers Hide and rooooll that TIDE!

by JiggaTide on Dec 2, 2009 5:31 PM CST reply actions

An Honest Evaluation.

Florida offense is the best offense we have faced. I think we are hard pressed to keep them from scoring 3 td’s. I mean we let Auburn get 3 td’s so we are going to have to play great to keep UF at 21. Our D is good and holding UF to 21 will be a good showing.

Florida defense is the best defense we have faced. Our offense is weak in the red zone. I think if we play great we can score 2 td’s. However, somewhere we find another td, like a pick 6 or a punt return

So, my best hope is 21-21 in regulation. If we can get to OT, maybe we get lucky and win 27-24.

But these folks predicting Bama in blow out are not facing reality.

I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.

i can feel the electricity in the air already. something BIG is going to happen. i know it should be close, but it was supposed to be a close one in 99 too, in fact we were supposed to lose if you asked anyone but Bama fans. (they said our win @ the swamp was a fluke!)

i’m not calling for a blowout, but my gut it starting to tell me that we just might kick some serious ass, espcially with our pasisng game.

I share this feeling.

We already had a Langham type moment when Kareem Jackson intercepted Snead’s pass against Ole Miss. Then there was the block. Julio’s streak to the end zone against LSU. And the drive to beat Auburn. So many big big moments. Something’s in the air. Legends of Alabama football will be made on Saturday.
