Article Claims 'Bama Ineligible for BCS Title
Just to head this off at the pass, the wording on the bottom of the USA Today poll listings "The AFCA prohibits coaches from voting for schools on major NCAA probation." -- is somewhat sloppily worded. That's not the text of the rule, it's a short-hand explanation of a rule. The actual rule does not refer to probation, but to post-season bans.

Wouldn't...
…that have made Oklahoma ineligible to go to the national championship last year. Not only were they on probation, but they actually lost scholarships.
Also, I would hardly call what happened with the textbooks a “major recruiting violation.”
what are you talking about?!
it was a hug deal! Saban was totally in control of that and actually planned it himself. We had our recruiters going out telling recruits that if they came to Bama, they’d get free books!
"The goal is to be a champion," Saban said. "I didn’t say to win a championship. I just said be a champion. That’s our goal here. That’s what we want to do."- Nick Saban
You got it right.
“Probation for a major violation” is not the same as “major probation”.
To quote Robert DeNiro in THE FAN
Jason Pelligrino’s dadVince Mullins takes it in the ass.
MATRIX: Bennett, I thought you were--
BENNETT: Dead? You thought wrong. Ever since you had me thrown out of the unit, I've been waiting to pay you back. Do you know what today is, Matrix? Payday.
This is pretty bogus
but could you imagine the uproar if NOW they changed this game. I mean thousands of people have purchased tickets, made plane reservations, booked hotels etc. I mean the losses would be millions, and I’m one of those people.
But this is not going to happen because the Alabama textbook thing is not major. Of course I’m sure the Aubies will be all over this.
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.
It's not going to happen
…because the way this guy understands the rule is not the way the rule actually is.
It has nothing to do with logistics or fairness and everything to do with the fact that the think this guy claims is against the rules (voting for teams on probation) is actually not against the rules.
I'm wrong all the time.
