Decade Heisman Trophy
Guys-
I thought it would be interesting to poll various SBNation blogs to see who would they think is the 2000's "most outstanding player"
Like the Heisman is actually voted for, I was wondering if you would give a first, second, and third place vote.
Also: I know this is an annoying rule but in order to maintain the integrity of the process I'd like to ask that you don't vote for players from your own team. If you could, Florida fans would all vote Tebow, Texas Fans would all vote Young, and USC fans would give each of their first place votes to their three winners, and the vote would be insanely split up.
I'll close voting one hour before the ceremony, which is at 8 pm EST and 5 PM PST.
Anybody who played this decade is eligible.
Thanks.

Well...
I’ll look at it both ways, my top three Heisman winners of the decade, and the top three players of the decade, period. Here goes for me:
Heisman winners
(1) Tim Tebow
(2) Carson Palmer
(3) Matt Leinart
Top overall players
(1) Tim Tebow
(2) Vince Young
(3) Darren McFadden

1. Vince Young
2. Reggie Bush
3. Darren McFadden
I really wanted to include Adrian Peterson, but I just couldn’t rank him ahead of these three.
*I also wanted to include a defensive player (Rolando), but obviously, I couldn’t do that, either.

bush is ineliglble for cheating and also because lendale white was better
- vince young. college player of the decade no doubt
- tim "
diedcried for oursinswins" tebow - darren mcfadden (he helped houston nutt win 10 in a row including a win over the national champs that season)
i also find it absolutely not surprising at all to see that of the top 3 players of the decade in college football, only 1 of them got a heisman. the heisman is a joke and i’m preparing myself to see colt mccoy strutting off the stage with it tonight. which makes me wonder, will mccoy go out like jason white or like gino toretta? either way, it aint gonna be pretty.

McCoy ain't gettin' it...
…Lendale wasn’t as good, and Tebow is overrated…but I like your thinking on Bush’s (in)eligiblity. Nevertheless, that dude was/is a bada$$ on the field.

Reggie Bush... seriously?
Most of these guys can have legitimate cases made for them, but Reggie Bush? Are you serious?
Look, I know he was hyped as a once-in-a-generation player who would literally change the game and all of that stuff, and to that end he ended up winning the Heisman by the biggest margin ever. However, four years removed, I think we can all definitively say that Bush was over-hyped by an unbelievable margin.
First and foremost, what did he ever really do in college? His 2004 campaign is a good one, but the bulk of the production came when he racked up about 500 total yards of offense — almost 40% of his yearly total — against a 5-6 BYU team and a 5-7 UCLA team. And honestly it was much of the same story the following year in 2005… he racked up about 700 yards of total offense against Fresno State and UCLA.
But so what? Wow, the guy played on unbelievably talented teams against very weak competition — the Pac 10 was seriously in the dumpster at the time — and he ran circles around them. Big whoop. Hell, all of these other guys mentioned here ran circles around legitimate top-end competition, many of which with much less talent around them via their supporting cast, so color me unimpressed by Bush.
Besides, I think we can look at Bush’s career in the NFL and see how overrated he was all along. Hell, right now he’s just a third down back, really a cheap imitation of Kevin Faulk. He made a couple of big plays in his rookie season, and has basically been a cog-at-best for the past three years. Moreover, for the record, unless he is willing to take a massive pay cut next year, he’s going to be cut by the Saints. And all of that is to say nothing of the fact that he is at the center of an ongoing NCAA investigation that could possibly bring major sanctions to USC and possibly result in him getting stripped of his Heisman.
And, now I’m supposed to believe that’s one of the best players of the decade? No way. That’s the most over-hyped player of his generation who quickly got exposed.

The reason I like
Bush was that if they were playing two hand touch he would have still had about the same stats. No one could lay a hand on the guy.
Now it is true he played in perfect circumstances. And he is not a great pro, but Tebow will not be a great pro either, and Vince Young is only an average pro.
The fact that Bush cheated might make some go against him, but I lay that at USC’s feet, not Bush.
If Bradford had not gotten hurt he could have been a two time Heisman winner and tops of the decade for that fact.
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.
