You get the sense this morning that the folks at our new favorite Web site, StiffArmTrophy.com, did not want to pin themselves to a projection in what is bound to be a very close Heisman Trophy vote.
But to their credit, they now have.
Alabama tailback Mark Ingram got the nod after a week's worth of research and exit poll-style calculations to determine tonight's winner. The actual wording is that StiffArmTrophy.com is "reasonably confident" that Ingram will take first place, saying "It would take a fairly dramatic difference between the known and unknown ballots for Ingram to lose."

Selfish
Maybe I’m being selfish but, I don’t want the Heisman jinx to affect Mr. Ingram a couple Thursday nights from now. RTR!!

The SI jinx didn't affect us too bad.
Ingram did have a bad game personally, but the team won. I’d take the same result again in a heartbeat.
And frankly...
… we’ve only been on the cover of SI about six times since Saban arrived. If the whole SI jinx had any validity whatsoever, there’s no way we would have won 24 of our last 26.

The "jinx" is what you make of it
plenty of the most recent winners haven’t performed great (or their teams haven’t) in their bowl games, but there’s also plenty of past winners who have. I think the important thing is to keep focused and realize the Heisman isn’t the goal of the season. So… I think it’s only a jinx if you let it cloud your focus. And I don’t think he will. And I KNOW Saban won’t

I know people keep predicting Ingram, but I just have this feeling that it's going to be Gerhart.

It does feel...
