What an honor for Mark Ingram

I couldn’t be happier for him. Truly humble kid and you can tell he appreciates the significance of the award.

I love that once he gained composure he just simply thanked everyone by name. I’ve always disliked the heisman as I prefer team awards For what are obviously team accomplishments – and you can plainly see Mark appreciates the people around him who help him achieve his goals. He is standing on the shoulders of giants, no doubt.

Even made my wife cry!

Here’s hoping that the team is now focused on Texas and let’s BRING IT BACK HOME DAMNIT!!!

What a great kid.

I have been saying all along that his skills are only outshined by his character. This is going to open the doors up for this award at UA moving forward, and I couldn’t have dreamed of a better player or person to win it.

I have watched his acceptance speech twice, and it’s hard not to let tears well up in the corners of your eyes. What he has accomplished in two years is tremendous, while dealing with his dad’s situation. It also seems he has a really great relationship with his dad despite the situation, which I think shows a lot of maturity on his part (and hopefully his father’s too!).

I know we are all in a lovefest with Ingram right now, but why not? The kid has a heart as big as his shoulders, works hard, and seems like the most humble person to boot. Maybe one day he will prove otherwise, but for now he is the kind of guy that young kids should look up to as a sports star.

You gotta love the kid. Tremendous speech, humble and sincere (I felt). Wow. This season is becoming something of legends, and dare I say this could be one of the best Bama teams ever…let’s beat Texas first!

Agreed...

…and for those that would bash Tebow. Mark was very nervous earlier in the evening. Tim took him aside and prayed with him for peace. I am amongst those that respected Tebow but had tired of the over- saturation of coverage he got. I will never begrudge him any coverage he gets again. That was a complete class act.

Auburn and Tennessee fans are a lot like Slinkys...neither are worth much but you do get a sense of satisfaction from pushing them down a flight of stairs

by bamachine on Dec 13, 2009 1:01 AM CST up reply actions

yeah, tebow is a good kid

with a lot of character. it’ll be hard to keep the perspective in check as time passes, but the kid was a just a victim of his own success when it comes to over saturation on TV and such.

he handled the second heisman ceremony the right way (he got robbed yet was positive and respectful and congratulatory) and the third one as well (he didn’t deserve it this time and yet he still acted very humble.) plus his comments after the 09 SECCG were classy too.

i’ll do my best over the years to try and remind people of that, cause i have a feeling a lot of those positive things will get overlooked as people are just so used to talking shit about him.

I agree. My 10 yr. old daughter hated Tebow, and that is a direct result of listening to the CBS announcers kissing his a** even as he wasn’t at his best! We watch MOST SEC games and these guys bring up Tebow in games where the Gators aren’t even playing. I did make her go look up some things about him, outside of these idiots, to see that he is an okay kid.

And while I am here, I am SOOOO proud of Mark. I am also happy for the U and all of that, but right now I am living with the Saban 24 hour rule and celebrating Mark. :)

you wanna talk about misguided sense of self importance? how about rudy guilianni killed a couple thousand public health workers with his cheap ass ignorance and now he speaks about the “brave decisions”(read cost benefit analysis he applied) he made after 9-11 for just a couple hundred grand per speaking engagement. meanwhile he blocks those same health workers efforts to gain access to the 9-11 victims compensation fund. yeah just because your lungs are now diseased and bleeding and you’re going to die from cleaning up the WTC site doesn’t mean you should have access to affordable healthcare.

Guiliani is a FUCKING VAMPIRE!! but michael moore is an asshole with an inflated ego for pointing that out.

Mark Ingram

In 3 weeks I will have been a Tide fan for 45 years and as elated as I was when I heard Ingram won the award and I proudly donned my newest Bama cap (I took from my cousin 2 months ago when I was in Bama for one of my other cousins funeral) I was actually brought to tears as I read one of the stories I realized I was not just happy for our first Heisman but truly in awe as to the kind of person Mark Ingram is,all football aside, that is why I’m proud to be a Bama fan and also I wonder if living in the heart of gator country it makes it just a little bit sweeter?

As one of the 'teachers at Alabama'

Thanks. Mark is a class act all the way. He represents our university with integrity, humility, and pride. It was great that President Witt was at the presentation. In times like this it is great to remember what football at UA actually is, simply a way to bring honor and attention (and now money) to the Capstone while instructing student-athletes to be better people.

I thought it was classy...

that Mark not only thanked the teachers, but the president, athletic director, SIDs, and interns – BY NAME. As impressed as I was before the ceremony, I was doubly impressed and proud afterwards.

I asked my wife what she thought right before they went away to commercial before they announced the winner, and she said, “I don’t know. They’re all good.”

That about sums it up. I am happy for Mark Ingram and for the University of Alabama, but each of those guys is a credit to himself, his family and his school.

Why shouldn't he be disappointed?

He had it in his hands and blew it. All season long it was his for the taking, but he came up short in the big games. How could you be a competitor and not be disappointed by that? I’m sure he wasn’t upset with Mark winning it as much as having an opportunity to grab it and letting it slip away.
