"The legacy of Alabama football certainly had a void filled,"

"That's what I was concerned about tonight," Saban said. "Maybe by playing all those guys we didn't help Mark in terms of getting what he may very well have deserved, because he shared the burden."

"In some of the spread offenses it's a little bit more difficult to be a dominant runner," Alabama coach Nick Saban said. "In old-fashioned ball, running backs were held in high esteem."

"We felt like we were getting one of the best running backs in the country," Saban said. "Mark's success is no surprise at all. He's a great competitor, a great person and he has tremendous ability."

We have one more void to fill.

Alabama has never beaten Texas.

I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.

Interesting

That Saban may have really worried about not giving Mark enough carries to pad his stats. From the quote it appears that he wasn’t so concerned with the Heisman as such, but he may have felt bad if one of his athletes didn’t receive the recognition he deserved.

yeah..

if we was worried about stats, he wouldn’t have pulled him early in the UTC game….

I think maybe his point was not so much that Saban wished he'd padded his stats

But that his players wouldn’t get the recognition they deserve because of that.

good deal

And I’m glad he isn’t! Nice to see that Ingram gets his props nonetheless.
