Bama with 6(!) AP All American first teamers!

Guess which ones?

 Mark Ingram

Rolando McClain

Mt Cody

Javier Arenas

Michael Johnson

Leigh Tiffin

This is simply an incredible change from where we were as a program 3 years ago. What a great class!

Alabama safety Mark Barron made the third-team, giving the Tide seven players who received AP All-America honors. Texas put three players -- kicker Hunter Lawrence, center Chris Hall and linebacker Sergio Kindle -- on the third team for a total of six overall.

Florida also had six players make the three teams, including cornerback Joe Haden and tight end Aaron Hernandez as first-teamers.

The SEC was the most represented conference on the first team, with 11 players, including Tennessee safety Eric Berry, South Carolina linebacker Eric Norwood and Georgia punter Drew Butler.

I just want to give big props to Javy.

So few thought he would amount to anything more than a great return specialist, and here he is, leaving Alabama as a first-team AP All-American. Way to go, Javy.

To everyone else in the SEC...

The sad thing is

we’re losing five of them.

MATRIX: Bennett, I thought you were--

BENNETT: Dead? You thought wrong. Ever since you had me thrown out of the unit, I've been waiting to pay you back. Do you know what today is, Matrix? Payday.

Let's give Tiffin his due...

yes that means you too, OTS… ; )

I don’t know that we could have asked any more of him than he gave this year. I’m very glad he was able to turn his early struggles of a few years ago around and come back and finish this way.

You mean

Old Iron Hands?

Auburn fans are like slinkys... not really good for anything but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

Julio had a terrible year. He dropped a shit load of catchable passes.

Some say it’s because of injury. I don’t know what it is. He was so talented as a freshman grabbing any and everything in his direction. This year he’s been very average even less than average. I hate to see it. Maybe he’ll pull it together next year. At the rate he’s going him leaving after three years may not be certain. I hope he doesn’t turn out to be another Alonzo Lawrence. At the beginning of the year if you would’ve told me Marquis Maze would be top dog I would have laughed.

Julio had an OFF year

with catches perhaps, but that boy busted his ass blocking all year long. the threat of #8 is what attributed to the excellent year #4 had. i just wouldn’t call that ‘terrible’.

Your right bad choice of word(s) let me call it less productive year for him as a WR.

I agree he did an excelent job blocking and playing his role. Just wish he would’ve made more big plays as a WR, thats all. Overall proud to have him.

Lawrence

left cause he couldn’t hack the competition…Some guys just can’t handle the pressure of preforming day in and day out..

Julio’s ’09 season is the definition of sophomore slump…and some of it can be attributed to McElroys midseason slump…IMO, Julio will have a quite NCG and will come back in ’10 and dominate.

Reasons for the quite NCG:

Texas will do what everyone else did…load the box and double Julio…

I wonder if this is the first time the first team All-American kicker has missed 3 extra points during the season.

Not that I’m trying to say he doesn’t deserve it. He’s had a great year. Just seems kind of strange that a guy having an all-american kind of year would miss that many extra points, none of which were blocked.

On extra points...

…he’s too close…he’s a three-point shooter…gotta back up to get in range….
