I don’t think the SEC Championship Game won him the Heisman. Granted, I watched him just about every week and have seen the things that he was doing. But I don’t think that one game alone sealed it for a lot of the voters. I think a lot of the voters recognized what he brought to the table before that game.

The SECCG was nice...
But, if there was a “heism@n moment”, it was the 4th Q against So.Car.

No news to anyone on this blog
but Ingram isn’t the kind of back you appreciate the first time you see him. He’s not outstandingly fast, strong, or whatever. But his (for lack of a better term) football IQ is genius level. Things like field vision, hitting the correct hole at the correct time (which involves seeing the hole before it develops), always falling forward, shifting a step or two to make a 20 yard gain a 50 yard one, lots of things like that. Peyton Manning has a similar football IQ beyond his physical gifts, which is why he is Peyton Manning and not Ryan Leaf, who had better physical gifts but a moronic football IQ.
These are things you don’t notice at first, hense you have articles stating that he isn’t the best RB on the squad. Maybe in terms of pure talent that is so, but in terms of total production, he’s an amazingly great running back, and I hope to enjoy every play he gives us next year, I hope he makes millions in the NFL, and I hope he has a good life and great career there. He’s given me a lot of enjoyment so far, and I think he deserves every credit and award he gets.

Trent may have more physical gifts fo’sho. Here lately I’ve read a few articles telling of his frustration with PT. Trents a true talent I hope he doesn’t get frustrated. He must pay his dues just like everyone of us did when we were new to a job or whatever. Trent prolly had zero clue though that he’d be playing backup to the Heisman trophy winner. Hell who did?

first I’ve heard of TR being frustrated. Ingram is the best RB at Alabama. TR has the potential to be better, but he has to prove it on the field.

when people say they've read
it somewhere…where is “somewhere”?
"The goal is to be a champion," Saban said. "I didn’t say to win a championship. I just said be a champion. That’s our goal here. That’s what we want to do."- Nick Saban
I believe
that is coming from MI. He was asked something about how he helps TR and other young backs. MI said something to the effect “this time last year he (MI) was a little frustrated with his PT and he is just helping the others get through that part of their early careers.”

well..
he’s got nearly 700 yards as a freshman..almost the same as MI had last year.

I think he is less
than 100yds away from breaking MI rushing total from last year. I can not remember where I read MI quote but, he never said TR was frustrated with PT just at this time last year he was.
It was sometime right before the SEC CG.

im not trying to say you are wrong
or that TR is wrong for being frustrated…you just never like to hear or read about player as good as TR being frustrated…

For what it's worth
on the field, TR looks to me like a better running back than MI. I’m no coach, though, just a fan. I just get the feeling that if TR was the feature back, he’d have similar numbers. He certainly seems to be ahead of where MI was last year, and MI agrees.
But I’m no coach, no scout, and I’m often wrong.
god i hope
we run some two back sets next year with TR and MI…

No kidding
it has to be on McElwain’s mind.

Here lately I’ve read a few articles telling of his frustration with PT
since you didn’t just say ’i’ve heard" meaning someone told you he said that, could you please reference one article where you read it? since freshman are not allowed to speak to the media, this would also have to have come after the SECCG?
"You have to create 6 seconds of hell each play..."
Coach Nick Saban
Yes- reference.
I’ve heard nothing of Trent being frustrated and why should he be. He has played a MAJOR roll this year. If anyone would be frustrated it would Upchurch.
In time Trent will be every bit as good and as used as Ingram. But, he probably won’t win the Heisman as that was just a “perfect storm” for Ingram to win. I’m not even sure I’d have Ingram the preseason Heisman favorite going into next year.
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.
i want
TR to want more PT…but for the right reasons..if he’s bitching and acting like a baby..SFTU…but i seriously doubt thats the case..

Ingram is a phenomenal back. He has so many gifts.
He’s got great vision, balance, speed (4.4, 40), power, receiving ability, and patience. He’s also a good blocker. Remember McElroy’s sideline dance for a first down? Not possible without a brilliant block by Ingram.

As my wife said
that cute little # 22 just keeps on going !! What else need be said ? RTR
Mark is a great RB. (Duh) However that alone wasn't the reason he won this award.
Several times this season I saw Ingram pull in some great catches. His recieving abilities are phenomenal. He has better hands than Julio by far. Not to mention his gift of staying on the outside of would be tacklers. They hardly ever get a solid lick on the kid. This alone gives him huge production after contact. Also he has as good if not better cutting ability than Javey.

One game may not have won it for him..
But one game almost lost it for him the week before.
For some inexplicable reason
our normally solid O-line was getting wrecked up front by the Barn. Zero push.
