I'm not an auburn hater. But
I think the tigers are hanging their season on a lost game to the Tide. I also think the bowlsters are gambling on the barn fans spending plenty to go see their tigers play since they must be so good.
I give the coaches credit for comin up with a good game plan against Bama. I give the players credit for playin up to or above their potential. But I don't think they're a good team. Not a New Years Day team. They had some wins against some fair teams. Should they be ahead of some of the other( i feel are better) SEC teams?
Can you hang a season on one game?

Well
I am a tiger hater. And Auburn sucks.
I mean, they’re stupid. And their football team is crap. I don’t want to get into personal attacks or anything, but I’m pretty sure their mothers are all… well… let’s just leave it at “they suck.” Because they do. They really really do.
Did I mention they suck?

I think the 4th Q loss to UF
very clearly shows that you can hang your season on one game. In fact, that chance for redemption, that one game this year, is what we built our entire season on.
So, yes.

there is a difference
in using one game or two loses as motivation for next year..and saying “Our team is on the way up cause we played well against the #1 team in the country”.

What makes the bowlsters think barn fans are going to fill a stadium up?
They have had trouble filling their own stadium recently right?
Auburn
doesn’t deserve New Year’s Day. In their last 7 games they lost 5, beat Ole Miss in a close game and beat Furman while giving Furman 31 pts.
I guess they got this game because they sold it to the bowl people.I was thinking the Outback would go to UT, but I guess somebody at UT dropped the ball – imagine that Kiffin messing something up.
Auburn needs to realize the point of playing football is to win. There are no moral victories in football.
Auburn thinks they are on the way back, but I would predict they go 6-6 next year losing to MSU, Clemson, Arky, LSU, UGA, and Bama. Just my feeling that their O will be not as good as Todd, who had a good year, is gone. Their D was not good this year and will not improve next year. They will battle Arky for #3 in the west, and lose, coming in #4.
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.
You play! To win! The game!

I too, thought Tennessee should have gone
Do ya reckon that this bowl committee was revolted ky what Kiffen stands for?

just so you know...
I have a tough time getting interested in Auburn, unless the talk is about their coaches.
This comment is only made because of the avatar for rmathis. About 40 miles NW of Corpus Christi is a lake about 45 miles from dam to upper reaches, where the upper 30 miles is full of stumps and creeks with more stumps. Judging from the avatar, rmathis knows what that means. Well, the maps say the name of the lake is “Lake Corpus Christi” which is a big fat lie. Everybody in South Texas knows, and has always known, that that body of water is “Mathis Lake.” It got it’s name from the town near the dam that created it.
this does interest me
not because of the name, but the river , creeks, and stumps. I live in Dothan AL and am originally from Eufaula which is 50 miles north and has a legendary lake. In its hay-day, ( early sixties to seventies) they say it was nothing to catch a 10 bass string of 10 lb bass. BASS frequented the lake in its early years but since the town is small its hard to get enough spectators to look good on TV so its rare they come any more. Still a great fishery. Helped me finish angler of the year in the Dothan Bassmasters this year. Ever this way, hollar and we’ll go.email rmathis@comcast.net

Years ago when we were struggling...
and we played #1 Oklahoma to start the season and held them to the wire until they went for a fake punt and ended our chances, I do remember finding solace in the loss

Guess I see your point
Their 08 season was total crap. They lost 4of5 leading to the 09 Iron Bowl and came out and pushed the Tide to the limits. I can see that giving them a glimmer of hope for the future.
I still don’t see them jumping Tennessee for the New Years Day bowlgame. Nor do I understand Northwestern making it there either. Guess it is what it is.

We beat Tennessee
and Kiffin is a disaster waiting to happen. Most people outside of Tenn wouldnt invite him to a birthday party. Why would the selectors invite him to a bowl?

i walked out of BD after that game
absolutely fucking pissed and sick that we let them get away with it. I was not happy that we just “hung in there and gave them a good game”
