BCS Championship Game Tickets Thread

Okay, since the general thread is way too broad and has too much going on in it, I'm breaking it down into three different threads:

  • Tailgating
  • Tickets to the game
  • Travel/hotel/stuff to do in LA

THIS IS THE THREAD FOR TICKETS TO THE GAME

FanPosts are just that; posts created by the fans. They are in no way indicative of the opinions of SBN and the authors of Roll Bama Roll.

If anyone

has the glorious extra tickets, I’m a student looking for some. I have a round-trip flight via Sky Miles. Help a brotha’ out (please?)

Need 2

and I’m willing to pay $375 or so per ticket. (Maybe more if I can convince my wife.) We’ve had a hotel booked since the week after LSU, and she booked a flight during the 4th quarter of the SECCG…figured I’d get tickets since I work for UA and had no problem getting Sugar Bowl tix last year, but no luck. I’m 20 years of service too short to get them from UA.

Ticket prices

are falling and sould continue to fall, but anyone who sells you a ticket for less than $700 is really doing you a favor. You need to mow their lawn for at least two months.

I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.

That's what I'm afraid of.

I’m hoping they’ll fall below $600 at least. If nothing else, though, we’re going out there, tickets or not. Maybe we’ll luck up and pick some up on the street beforehand.

Need 1 or 2 myself.

I have a place to stay and can get a flight no problem, but I’m not going out there without a ticket.

Tickets prices are slowly coming down...

They are as low as $698.00 on StubHub right now and they are under $800.00 on TicketCity. RazorGator has some from $705.00 to $796.00. All of these tend to be corner/endzone seats, but they are starting to come down in price…aaatix and ebay are still over the $1000.00 figure.

I just bought some on eBay

for $750 each, in section 11. They are Tide Pride tickets. I’m very happy right now.

Congrats!!

See, I knew the prices were coming down! I get my tix tomorrow and when I do, (don’t want to jinx them, just in case) I will tell you all where they are and the unheard of price I paid for them!

seats or bleachers?

I was wondering what the seating is like inside the Rose Bowl. Are they actual seats or bleachers? A few of my friends have tickets but they aren’t together so they were wondering if it would be possible to squeeze an extra person into a row, assuming most people will be standing for the majority of the game.

The Perfect Stadium

There is not a bad seat in that house. The upper rows are even good when play is on your end of the field while on the opposite end an inexpensive pair of binoculars would be a good investment.

Also, you can view pics of different sections here. Just click on the section and up pops a thumbnail pic, or you can pay the $10 fee to get high-res image.

Google earth has a few pics but not as many as you would think.

I heard the opopsite

A buddy of mine who lives in LA and scalps tickets for a living says that the Rose Bowl has some of the worst sight lines of any stadium he has ever been to – and he’s been to a ton of them, both pro and college.

I’d be interested to hear back on this from those of you going to the game.

Best of luck !

I sat...

…in the end zone in 2000, and I thought it was awesome (the view, not the game)….

Then again...

…maybe what I thought was awesome was that the sight lines were so poor I couldn’t really see how much we sucked….

Key word, "scalper".

This is the problem with LA. If it’s not glitz and glamour then pour it out with the bath water. I have been to only college games there and IMO the whole setting is picture perfect.

He's actually a writer

But unless someone is buying your material, you need to do something to pay the rent until they do. He’s not much of a waiter or bartender type, so I guess scalping is how he pays the bills. He’s a street trader though, so he actually provides a service without gobbling up all the prime tickets that the “licensed agencies” do.

He makes his living by purchasing a ticket from someone on the street and then trying to sell it for more than he paid. He said he hates working the really big games and prefers working in Florida during MLB spring training games. He makes more money there with less risk because people will jsut give away extras and he can sell them for $20 or so – all profit. If you do that enough times a day, you can make some cash.

Here's an interesting

article. Lower rows are great for students who want to take off their shirts, look good on TV, and be as close to the game as possible.

The Rose Bowl is the absolute perfect old school football stadium They broke the mold when they built the “grand daddy of ’em all”.

wait a second....

You bag on scalpers and then post articles by a ticket broker??? Brokers are way worse – they get tons of tickets that the public never has any opportunity to purcahse and then try to sell them to you for 5 times what they paid!

by skigator93 on Dec 23, 2009 11:31 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Just wanted to let everyone know

if you haven’t looked at StubHub lately, there are 2 sets of tickets that are below $600.00 now. Hopefully they will drop even more after Christmas…

by BamaGirlinVegas on Dec 24, 2009 12:52 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Most of the low

priced tickets (between $575-$650) are from Bama sections. Very few low priced tickets in the Texas sections, and very few in the nuetral sections. Looks like a lot of Bama people (Tide Pride people) bought their tickets just to resell them. Students have to present ID at stadium to pick up tickets so at least they are not reselling.

Hopefully for the prices will contiune to drop so some of y’all can go. It could get real interesting next week…we might even see tickets in the $400 range. Sort of makes me wish I had sold mine when they were going for $900 and then I could by them now for $500. With tickets you just never can tell but the early ticket excitement was definitely an over kill. If you have waited until now you were smart.

I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.

I thought the early prices were too high

and would have to come down. It looks like they are still falling in price. Right now, StubHub has them starting at $610.00 and you can scroll all the way down on page one before you find any that are $700.00. So maybe by the start of next week they will be in the $400.00 range.

Got a single on eBay two days ago

Two days ago, I bought a ticket (Sec 26, Row G) for $425 from somebody who listed it on eBay (but got no bids) for $575. I think ticket prices are going down post-Christmas.

My buddy has two tickets he wants to sell

Section 11, Row 74. He wants to sell them for $600 each, but is willing to negotiate. You can contact me at bobthemonkey AT gmail

Thanks

FWIW

I got mine, which are a little better seats than those for $500 each. They are selling on StubHub for less than $600, so he may want to come down some.

My wife and I are seperated

and she hoped to reconcile with a trip to Pasadena. She received four tickets to the game from her old boss, and we along with my brother and his girlfriend were going to go. And then she sold them…. :(

At least she got some money, but she sold all 4 on the 45 yard line for $2500; I think she could have gotten more.

I have 6 together

Section 11 Row 44. Only 3864 total tickets left on stub hub right now.

I will be selling these to the highest bidder(s).

I paid over $400 each and I bought them directly from the Rose Bowl. I already have acceptable local bids of $750 each, so don’t bother with the low ball stuff.

The price range for 6 together on stub hub right now is $795 to $1295. That only includes the “middle end zone” sections, were these are located. It is much more for 6 together in the sideline sections. Even the nose bleed sections are $687 right now for 6 together. I think they charge 10% on top of that, which would bring the cheapest nose bleed tickets to $755 + shipping.

I might be willing to break them up if I get enough bids, but they are worth a lot more when sold together. If you only need 1 or 2, you can probably find a better price.

Reply here if you have a serious offer.

Thanks.
