"I just had a little problem with my hamstring last week and had to sit out to try to get to play last Friday and couldn't go," said Reamer, who played a little on defense but not in nickel defense situations and not on special teams.
"We decided it was best to try not to go too much so that I'd be ready to go this week, and it's worked out. I haven't had to sit out anything. I've done all the drills, gone through all the practice and feel good. I'll definitely be ready to go by Saturday."
Don Kausler Jr: 'I'll definitely be ready to go by Saturday,' Tide's Reamer says
The emphasis is obviously mine, but is that interesting or what? The players and coaches usually say so little and are quite cryptic, but here Reamer basically comes straight and says that the staff basically had him sandbagging against Auburn just to be ready for Florida. You cannot help but wonder if that thinking permeated other areas of our Iron Bowl strategy as well.

as Justin Wilson would say

No doubt
We were looking ahead to the SECCG. Coupled with the Barn throwing everything they could at us and the result was a lackluster performance. We won’t be looking ahead this week.
Not so sure
First, I may or may not know what I’m taking about – but after heading Cecil Hurt discuss this on the radio this week…
Reamer was unable to get the reps in practice last week because, with all hamstring injuries, you have to be careful not to push too hard or you’ll further injure it. Holding him to limited practice duty resulted in the coaching staff playing Sharrief because he got more reps and was more ready for the game.
Coupled with all of the “its tough to get ready for this [Auburn] offense” it was even more important to a) play the players most ready, and b) play the players most practiced. Neither of which Reamer was.
To say that Saban sandbagged Reamer would ignore the fact that it was in our best interest (both presently and in the for the future) to play Sharrief vs Auburn (he was more ready). Also, its not sandbagging when you are being careful of re-injuring a player.
If Saban was purposefully under performing, via sandbagging or rope-a-dope, I think it was a mistake. The game was far too close to be pulling that kind of stunt.
