Persistence looks to have also paid off for Florida State in the recruiting of El Camino Community College CB Mike Harris.
"I just committed to Coach Coley," Harris told Warchant. "My graduation date is really uncertain right now and Alabama had wanted to wait and see, but Coach Coley told me that whether I graduate now or later, Florida State is going to stick by me and I am going to have a spot there. That stood out to me. I am firm to Florida State."
Orlando Sentinel: Florida State hits keep coming as California juco CB Mike Harris commits to 'Noles
Juco corner Mike Harris has committed to Florida State. If you recall, most had him as a 'Bama lock after a recent visit to Tuscaloosa -- and many thought he let the cat out of the bag a bit early. However, it seems now that Harris will not be able to graduate, and thus enroll, early, so it seems like Saban and company decided to pass on his services. Best of luck to him in Tallahassee.

Sounds to me like
it was ultimately Alabama passing on him.
Off topic...
I think Oregon just did their version of Rammer Jammer, all the way until the “We just beat the hell out of you” part, then it was over. It was hard to tell though through my TV. Do other colleges use this chant or similar versions of it? Other than Ole Miss of course.
Honestly
Saban’s defense is one of the hardest for a DB to learn and Grasp. I think we were looking for someone to come in and play in the fall. With him not able to come in until summer it decreased his chances of immediate impact. I think we slow played him and he decided to go elsewhere. Good pick up for FSU.
Auburn fans are like slinkys... not really good for anything but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
Man
lost another talented DB to FSU…

Fuck em...
if he wants to go play for shitty FSU..they can have him.

Wow.
Tough love for a 18 year old kid.
From what it looks like, the coaching staff decided to suggest Harris move on to another school since he has the baggage of not graduating on time. I’m not sure we should get all bitter and bent out of shape about a likely sound and good decision by the coaches.
perhaps
My wording might be harsh but im just not in the mood today to deal with BS. If this kid wants to go to a school in shambles, who just forced out their legend….then thats his decision. I agree that its a good call for UA to bail on him. If he’s not dedicated enough to graduate early, we don’t need him on our team.

In shambles
hahahhahahhaha. FSU is far from being in shambles. It actually is in good shape. All of our offense comes back next year(3rd in the country until Ponder got hurt) and we will have a new defensive staff and likely a hire from Bama’s staff will fill that position. And Bowden might be a legend, but he was way past his prime and had to go. FSU will surprise some teams next year…bank on it.
you defense is beyond pathetic
a fucking high school team could hang 40+ on you. 6 months with a new coach, no matter who it is, won’t change that fact. Yes, your offense is good, but that only sell tickets, it won’t win you games

no argument there
tons of underclassmen and poor coaching will do that. Still if we had a defense ranked in the top 40 we are 9-3. Next year being in the top 40 is a guarantee.
doesn't really matter....
you play in the ACC……you’re irrelevant by default

hahahahahahahahah
irrelevant enough to have more teams ranked in the top 25 than the SEC. Check your facts before you make a statement. it makes you look like a idiot.
fuckin a man...
the #3 and #4 teams in the SEC East this year beat the two best teams in the ACC last week…
Check reality before you post next time. The ACC is a pathetic conference. You know it, i know it and everyone in the world knows it. Now please, leave us to talk about things more important…like winning the SEC and playing for a NC….

man you guys have no clue.
I’ll let you boys continue to fondle each other over here. I’m bored anyways with this thread. Thanks for the new recruit by the way and when we steal your DC don’t cry too bad.
no...
you don’t have a clue….if you honestly think that the ACC is anything but pathetic, then i have sympathy for you. And your team is obviously on the way down (the stat you’re looking for here is the 6-6 record your team currently holds). I live in Tally and i am fully aware of the state of the FSU program. Even the local talk show guy “Jeff Cameron” acknowledges that much…
you might want to take a step back and think about the FACTS for a minute.

and one more point..
it wouldn’t matter one dame bit if every ACC team was ranked in the top 25. All that matters is who is ranked #1 at the end….And if im correct and i am…the SEC has done just fine in that regard over the last 4 seasons..and will do it again this year…

well, your two best just got whipped by a couple of our also-rans

Okay.....
First off, back off the ACC. I root for Bama but I’m a Nole at heart. Bowden’s time was up and Jimbo will have the Noles rolling again in about 2-3 years. Yeah, the ACC has a bad few years, so what. The SEC has gone through the same damn thing before, just like the Big 12, Big 10, etc. FSU’s troubles began when Richt went to UGA and Bowden appointed that sorry ass Jeff Bowden as OC. If you really knew anything about FSU football, you would know that WE KNEW the defense was going to woeful this year, but nobody would listen to us.
If you want to know what the state of FSU football is in, hop over to Tomahawk Nation and it’s right there, with ALL the problems listed, from the beginning of the season. Not the just the crap you want to see.
Just remember, not long ago Bama was barely floating around or above the .500 mark and you hearing this exact thing from Bama haters. So just b/c your team is currently better, don’t forget where Bama’s program was just a couple years go.

don't take things so personally
I make fun of the ACC b/c of its history of disappointments, and b/c I just can’t stand that crybaby Bowden or any of his loser progeny. If the defense was known ahead of time to be so woeful, then why did Mickey Andrews say it was the fastest defense he’s ever coached? I’m sure yall will improve, hell, you’ve got the second most 4-5 star recruits in the country on ur roster. But shooting for 9-3 in the ACC is no big accomplishment. Your boy escalated this by labeling me an idiot when he himself never seemed to make any sort of coherent sense

sorry to be so harsh about your team...
but im getting tired of people talking shit about “taking our recruits” and “taking our assistants”. Last time i checked, the mark of a good..nah a great program is how many coordinators are up for HC positions. Frankly, i consider it an honor to have Steele (last year), Kirby, and Sunseri all in the mix for HC jobs…and im pretty damn sure Saban feels the same.
As for the recruiting going on. FSU is building a fine class but its not like Bama is hurting on the recruiting front. The boys over at Tomahawk seem to think that because you guys got a JUCO guy from Cali, that means Smart is a done deal…I’d venture a guess that Smart has yet to be contacted and is 100% focused on beating UF…not worrying about taking over a beat to hell FSU squad.
Again, sorry for dissing your team but the ACC needs to learn its place. Its hasn’t been relevant since the last time FSU was good…and that was nearly 10 years ago.

John Fulton
I wonder if this portends things for John Fulton. We right now have commitments from two players who will probably play cornerback at Alabama (Belue and Millner). Furthermore, Belue was thought to potentially be an academic casualty when he gave his commitment, though seeing as Alabama is not offering too many other cornerbacks you would assume he is doing well.
Alabama also may lose its three best cornerbacks next year, if Jackson leaves early. You have to assume we need a least one more elite cornerback to feel confident about the position going forward. Most have assumed that Fulton was going to South Carolina. I wonder if this portends good things for Alabama, as we clearly need another player and Fulton is the only name that continues to come to the surface.
