Pass the Crow and How did you know?
Ok, to begin with I had $250 riding on Bama and so besides being always for Bama I did feel we could possibly win this game. However, I was dead wrong, dead wrong about how I thought this game would go. I actually thought in order to win we would need for UF to implode and for us to get all sorts of lucky brakes. I never dreamed in my wildest dream that Bama could just dominate Florida on both sides of the ball. Both sides of the ball!!
Was I wrong!! And I will totally and happily admit that I have been a picture of doom and gloom for may games this year. Not that I didn't think we would win, I just thought we would struggle. In fact I've pretty much felt this way since UT.
But now we have the championship game and to be honest if we can play to this level in the championship game it won't even be close. Now that is scary to think that I would pcik Bama to blow out whomever ends up #2.
But, I want to know how so many Bama fans on this site and even some of the TV people knew, or felt strongly that Bama was going to win. And some felt we would easily. Why did they feel this way? It really is a mystery to me how people had such confidence but for all those who were confident of a beat down...well my hat is off to you.

I honestly DID NOT believe we were going to win like that. i thought it would be a real struggle, coming down to the last minute. I am so shocked and proud that we played like that against UF. I knew they could play as good as they did, I just didn’t know if they would!!

I am with you. As the seconds ticked down in the 3rd quarter I thought to myself…please, not again. But no question this was Bama’s best game all year. Urban Meyer done been outcoached.
As the seconds ticked down in the 3rd quarter I thought to myself…
…this. is. awesome. Last year, we owned them for a quarter. This year, we owned them from the first play. It may not have been evident on the scoreboard, but it was plain as day on the field. Meyer and Tebow had fear in their eyes well before Tebow had tears in his eyes and Meyer was checked into the hospital…best game evah….

I had a $50 bet
with my roommate who is a Florida fan… The bet was that Alabama would win by atleast 2 TD’s. I have said all season that if we made it back to the SEC Championship Game, that Coach Saban would have our guys ready. Don’t hold me to this but I’m almost certain Coach Saban was 13-0 (14-0 now) against teams he had lost to the previous year. Plus Tebow hasn’t been the same player since his concussion! I also didn’t think their little speady RB’s would be able to get in the open space that they would have to have to run on our dominating D!
I thought we would play
one of the most determined, inspired games an Alabama team has ever played. I had a good feeling about this game but I thought we’d win on our final possession. Last night I had a dream that we went up 28-0. I was disappointed when I woke up, but this game today was better than the dream.
MATRIX: Bennett, I thought you were--
BENNETT: Dead? You thought wrong. Ever since you had me thrown out of the unit, I've been waiting to pay you back. Do you know what today is, Matrix? Payday.
All day
I thought that Todd’s statement about waiting on the cancer screening was correct: I felt sick about this game. I simply bought into Saban and the idea that he has been preparing incessantly for this game. And evidently that meme was correct. I thought the defense was better this year, Ingram was improved, and McElroy: as many times as I cursed his name this year, the man never lost faith in himself . He made terrific decisions this game, and he was cool as blue water.
I’m glad that Alabama out performed my expectations as well!

Props to you, sir.
I think Bamagrad’s story pretty much sums it up:
"We fought hard and came up a little short, but I can promise you one thing, we’re not going to lose to those motherfuckers again!"
I think after last year’s SECCG, Saban vowed to never lose the 4th quarter like that again. And we haven’t. Ever since Virginia Tech, you could tell that at the end of the game we look like we could play 3 more quarters and the other team’s players are bent over asking to be taken out of the game.
We all know it’s hard to go undefeated in this league. And it’s hard to motivate kids to play every week against every opponent without ever letting up when everyone is giving you their best shot. But we made it all the way through, even if we were saving our best game for Florida. Despite what that might say about our efforts in previous games, one thing is certain: this time, we wanted it more. And it showed.
confidence
I got the feeling Friday when I heard reports of the teams final walkthrough at the dome, UF was joking around, tebow running pass routes, and urban talking on his cellphone during walkthrough. UA was businesslike, Saban still in his suit from the luncheon, poring over the playlist. Told the ladyfriend before the game I was feeling 31-13. I should’ve bet. Just reminded me of 1992 scenario.
i believed
but it wasn’t easy.
every metric you want to use showed these two teams evenly matched. so that meant the game would hinge on preparation and experience – two things that cant really be quantified in any assuring manner. but the process got us this far, i trusted coach saban to have them ready, and while florida are national champions, this team got a lot of experience last year playing against them.
still, it was an unpleasant week leading up to the game for me.
Roll 'Bama Roll: The Champagne of 'Bama Blogs.
I knew Saban would bring this team to ATL ready to play.
Earlier this year I believe during the Arkansas game CBS had a small note on Rolando Mclain. They asked about the attitude of this years Bama team and what the personnal goals where for each player. Ro says we want Florida thats the goal, another shot at finishing what we couldn’t last year.
-
I thought of how hard Coach had worked in the offseason dissecting The Gators. Saban is known to win rematches he’s something like 23-1 (I think).
-
Florida was comming off a blowout against FSU and Bama off a close one vs AU. That I thought played an important part right there. Blowout wins the week prior to big games hurt a teams intensity. Where close calls help a team remain focused.
-
Before the game I remember thinking the stars are position I knew the focus and determination were there all we have to do now is take care of the ball and not have breakdowns in pass coverages. Well seems the team did protect the ball and made few mistakes. Overall a great preformance. Best in two decades.
-
Now we need to remain focused for Texas. That may be easier said than done. However with an 0-7-1 record Bama has another reason besides a NC to get inspired. Thats the key. We are good enough all we need now is that “we want Florida attitude”.
Roll Tide!!!!!
Your temper brings dishonor to my happy mooshu palace.
I never...
…expected such complete domination, but I believed we would win because…
…our numbers were so similar, yet we played better competition…
…our numbers were better in SEC play…
…our numbers were better against common foes…
…Carlos Dunlap blew it (favorite sign at Georgia Dome: Sssshhh…Dunlap is sleeping)…
…Auburn and LSU caught NCAA heat the week of the game (there are no coincidences)…
…CNS is the greatest coach alive…
…GMac has a better arm than Tebow…
…we have Bobby Humphrey and Shaun Alexander wearing 22 and 3…
…Rolando McClain is better than Brandon Spikes…
…Tebow pales as a leader next to Javy…
…Meyer makes his living off of talent and what used to be a rarely seen offense…
…CNS makes his living off of out-working and out-thinking you, and kicking your a$$…
…Leigh Tiffin misses extra points, but he owns field goals…
…our punter is tougher than your RB/WR/whatevs (OK, I didn’t think of that before the game)…
…It’s our time….
