Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Mark Ingram had a huge night against the Gators, and with the poor performances by Colt McCoy and Tim Tebow, he may be racing towards the Heisman.

Ndamakuh Suh...

…should be a contender by all accounts, but it’s an award for skill position players.

Agreed...

but isn’t it also nice to have one of the best running backs in the country as your #2 back as well. Richardson manned up this game as well and went 11 carries for 80 yards. Awesome!

Exactly right...

Trent is a beast! I saw him last night in the hotel for the 1st time without pads… I thought he pads on under his shirt! The kid is huge!! I know Eddie Lacy has never played in a college game, but I’ve heard some great things about what he has been doing against the best D in the country everday in practice! So how bout we just go ahead and declare having the top 3 backs in the country!!!

I’m not saying Ingram should definitely win it, but if McCoy wins it, I will be sick.

I won't complain...

… the Heisman generally goes to an overrated player on an overrated team, and judging from what I’ve seen from Texas the past two weeks, if McCoy wins the Heisman then that billing will likely fit again with McCoy and the Horns.

I would like to see Ingram win it just to see him maximize his own personal glory, but if he doesn’t I really don’t care. We’re looking to win a national championship, regardless, and the Heisman doesn’t positively affect us in that regard (and it may even hurt us).

and keep in mind

we’ve got a good track record playing against over-hyped heisman winners in the big game.

Well Toby Gerheart has also been tearing it up.

in his last 4 games the dude averaged 186 yards rushing and 3.25 TD. He’s also out gained Ingram by almost 200 yards rushing on the season and has 26 TD’s to Ingram’s 18. However Ingram did average almost 1 more yard per carry on average and netted 173 more receiving yardage… against SEC defenses. Gerheart’s best game would be his 223 yard, 3 TD performance in Stanford’s win against Pac 10 champion Oregon.

What you're seeing is team spirit. It's like the Holy Spirit, but more powerful.
