So, I'll admit I was wrong.
I really didn't expect it. I said several times that, while I wanted Alabama to beat Florida because of the insufferableness of our SEC East rival if they won two straight national championships, I expected Florida to win. While I never got around to actually getting a fanpost up, the general reason was that I thought Florida's defense was better, would shut down a less effecient and more prone to "oops" Alabama offense and, really, that Tim Tebow would be Tim Tebow and win the game like Tim Tebows do.
I was, quite obviously, very much wrong.
I was impressed with Alabama very, very much -- as I'm sure most anybody was. When Florida showed life, Alabama responded immediately. When Florida tried to rally his troops, Alabama stiffled the Gators. And, in the end, Alabama just played better in every aspect of the field.
So, well done, Alabama, and good luck in Pasadena beating the hell out of the Longhorns. And color me impressed and, finally, convinced that Alabama is the best team in SEC, and in the Nation. Now don't make me wrong again come next month.

In fairness to you
Florida’s defense looked really, really good all year. The most points they gave up all year was 20 to Arkansas. According to 2 math-full stats, they had either the #2 defense, or the #1 defense (by a long shot) in the country.
You are forgiven thinking that our offense would struggle. Everyone thought this would be a smash mouth, defensive game. Well, mouths were smashed, and defense did rule, but it was all on one side. Amazing domination.

Thanks for the good wishes...
It’s always awesome to see a show of sportsmanship, especially from one of our most bitter rivals. Tennessee played us better than anyone has all year, and I look forward to seeing ya’ll’s program continuing to head in a positive direction.
Not that I don’t still want to beat the hell out of the Vols every October, mind you :)

Look at it this way:
The better Tennessee is, the less humiliating almost-losses are ;-)

As long as Kiffin is coach at UT, a loss to them will be humiliating. I do not look forward to Kiffin finally upsetting a top 5 team; can you imagine how much he’d run his mouth after that?
Depends who the team is.
If it’s Florida, he’ll graciously tip his hat to the flu-struck gators. If it’s Alabama, or most anyone else, I’d think he’d be pretty gracious.

sorry, where are my manners?
i totally forgot to congratulate you on that almost victory you almost had over Bama.

I never agreed with the pundits saying that McElroy is a pedestrian QB and northing more than a game manager.
He ain’t nuthing but a winner.
What you're seeing is team spirit. It's like the Holy Spirit, but more powerful.

a lot of folks chided our own OTS for quibbling about the teams performances this year
but i agreed with his basic point. there’s an unbelievable amount of potential on this squad and, far too often, what we saw on saturday was just a shadow of it. saturday was the first game in the last two years i felt this team gave a taste of what they are really capable of.
i don’t necessarily thing the reason this has taken so long is any kind of slack on their part as players or for the coaches not motivating them enough. the alabama program was mired in mediocrity so long that it’s tough to shake that mindset. i think now they know they can be this type of team and i’m hoping they continue to play up to that level not just on jan. 7 but for the foreseeable future.

Agreed
we have seen flashes (2008 UGA, 2008 Clemson) in big games but this was the first time we went out there and dominated for 60 minutes.

Actually, most opposing fans...
…I have seen on the SBN sites, are level-headed and classy. Obviously, there are gonna be exceptions. You go to most other sites and the posters like bobo are actually the exception.
Auburn and Tennessee fans are a lot like Slinkys...neither are worth much but you do get a sense of satisfaction from pushing them down a flight of stairs
