That bell you hear at the mention of Mr. Ingram's name means it's time for my Heisman Trophy ballot. I've avoided getting caught in the stiff-arm hype all season, as the award is really won in the final weeks, and also, I find it rather boring. But it's my duty as your college commentator to give my thoughts on the nation's best player. And I think Ingram deserves it after Saturday's performance -- 189 total yards and three touchdowns against the nation's (previously) top defense.
My major criterion when splitting hairs at the top of the ballot is how a player performs in his team's biggest games. Ingram was dominant in the opener (185 total yards and two scores) and finale in Atlanta and had monster games at Ole Miss and against LSU as well.
The second place finisher played in the Big 12 title game -- and it sure as hell ain't Colt McCoy.

Im not as big of a
Heisman hater as some others, so it wouldn’t bother me one bit if Ingram wins it. I just really feel he should. Colt played his worst when it all was the line, Ingram played his best against a much tougher foe. If Ingram doesn’t win it, i will be pissed.

If I had a ballot
1. Suh
2. Ingram
3. Best
4. Gerhart
5. G. Tate
Ingram is fantastic, but Suh is straight otherwordly.
I'm wrong all the time.
to me..
its all about level of competition. Ingram plays against the best defenses in the country. The Big 12 this year was simply terrible, especially the Big 12 North.

Maybe true, but even terrible defenses (see, e.g., Auburn) have been able to limit Ingram when they put their minds to it.
Everyone and their brother has been selling out to stop Suh all season and have failed miserably. He’s just not even in the same league as 99% of college football.
I'm wrong all the time.
Agreed
I thought one of the best points I read in favor of Suh was there have been plenty of running backs with seasons as good as Ingram’s, but when was the last time you remember a defensive tackle dominating a game like he all season long.
The only one that comes to mind was Glen Dorsey, before the cheap cut block by Pugh. He was having a great season, but was really limited after that. Suh put together a complete season, and though I would love to see Ingram win the award, I really could understand it if it was Suh
im just wondering..
how many NU games have yall watched this year? I can recall only seeing two.

What an odd question. It’s not as though Suh’s quality as a player is determined by how many people watch his games.
I'm wrong all the time.
well in this case...
You said “He’s just not even in the same league as 99% of college football”…so i wanted to know how much of him you have seen to make such a statement.

At least you’re up-front about wanting to discredit the person making the argument rather than debating the it on its merits.
I'm wrong all the time.
im not trying to argue...
im literally asking you, how much football have you seen Suh play? There is no doubt he’s a great player and he def deserves to be in NY. But to say he’s head over heels better than 99% of college players seems kinda outrageous.

Vegas
Head on the radio this morning that the oddsmakers think McCoy has the best shot of getting it. There is already too much talk about Bama being a big favorite and I hope Saban is able to keep his team’s perspective. Maybe if Ingram is denied it will add a little edge to the game.
I'm not sure I want Ingram to win but here's my prediction
1. Ingram
2. McCoy
3. Gerhart
4. Tebow
5. Suh

I go back and forth
At first I was in the boat that never wanted a Bama player to win it, for the sake of tradition. Then I thought it would help recruiting and tradition be damned. Then I thought it would help motivate the team if Ingram does not win it. Extra motivation if McCoy does. Now, I really don’t give a damn. I just want the NC.
I wouldn't piss off the boys from Alabama . . . DBT
im not so
sure its “tradition” that has kept us from winning it…I mean its not like there is a bunch of guys in a back room some where who’s goal is to keep Alabama from winning it…its just we have’t had those type of players.

I wouldn't overlook...
civil rights, segregation and racism (history on the part of the University and the state) as a cause either. Yankees sportswriters tended to take a dim view of that.
"So I want everybody to think here for a second, how much does this game mean to you? 'Cause if it means something to you, you can't stand still. You understand? You play fast! You play strong! You go out there and dominate the man you're playing against, and you make his ass quit! That's our trademark! That's our M.O.... as a team! That's what people know us as!" - Coach Nick Saban before the 2008 LSU game.

the "tradition"
I may be wrong but it is my understanding one reason Alabama never had a Heisman winner was that Bryant was all about the play of the team and not about that of individual stars.
My vote
1. Suh
3. Ingram
4. Gerhart
5. Kellen Moore
