I don't know about y'all...
…but I’ve checked my email about 17,000 times today in anticipation of finding out about tickets from UA.
I got my email...
On Dec. 6th. It said you must sign up to be signed up on the ticket request list by Dec. 7. Hope you got your name on there…
"There's a lot of blood, sweat, and guts between dreams and success" - Coach Bryant
Correction...
you’ve got until 5 pm tonight (Dec. 8) to put your name on the list.
"There's a lot of blood, sweat, and guts between dreams and success" - Coach Bryant
Are you a student?
Tide Pride said they’d send email today about who got tickets? I filed my request for these tix after the LSU game.
See my post below, forgot to hit reply to you...
"There's a lot of blood, sweat, and guts between dreams and success" - Coach Bryant
Yeah, Grad school.
Link they sent me is www.actcard.ua.edu if that helps.
"There's a lot of blood, sweat, and guts between dreams and success" - Coach Bryant
How do they do it now?
I just finished grad school in 2008 but I’ve heard some of my friends say the allotment system for bowls, etc. is very different.
In my first year, and haven't looked into it, so I don't know...
It appears that you just put your name on a list and it’s first come first serve for student ticket allotments.

The "80/20" Rule
Last year for the SECCG, they were still doing it solely by hours. But when only 2nd/3rd year grad students (I was in 2nd year of law school) got tickets, the SGA bitched like crazy. So by the time the bowl game came around, the “University supported the SGA’s recommendation” to give 80 percent of the tickets to undergrads and 20 percent do grad students by seniority determined in order of hours.
I think the cutoff for SECCG for undergrad was around 96 hours and I forgot what the cutoff for grad students was. As a third year grad student, I’m expecting to get tickets again. So here’s hoping.
I think they should do...
…a 70/20/10 split:
- 70% undergrads
- 20% grad students
- 10% random lottery
I never even bothered applying for 08 SECCG tix because I knew I didn’t stand a chance. It’s a cash grab for a lot of people (and would be even with the random 10%), but it’d still make it more fair in my mind (which everyone is concerned about I know.)
That would make sense
I went last year (as an undergrad taking a ridiculously long time to graduate), and was able to take my (now) wife with me. Now you only get one ticket, which I guess is another way to maximize the number of students who get a ticket. I do understand it, but I think it’s too bad I can’t take someone. I will have to check with other students I know.
They also...
tried to eliminate the cash grab by making them 1 ticket per person and will-call only.
All 2000 tickets. Which will sell out quicker than a Miley Cyrus/Micheal Jackson/Bruce Springsteen/Beatles/ Jonas Brothers
concert. Just saying. But it is my only hope other than a friend of a friend that does work for the Rose Bowl.

The thing that sucks...
…is how many tickets are package deals with hotels, etc. I know people everywhere, I don’t need some overpriced hotel, just need a ticket to the game.
that's what i have found
“for $3,445.99 you can have 4 nights at the Ritz-Carlton and one game ticket which includes a nifty name badge and pre game meal”
When all I need is unwashed sheets at the red roof inn and a GODAMN TICKET!
Pretty worried about spending money on transportation. That could be a killer. Dang LA is too big. Do they have public
transit worth a s**t?

LA is fucking miserable. you need a car to do anything.
in fact i think i should take a moment to warn everyone who’s never been to LA. the place is a fucking hell hole. you thought auburn was the backwoods redneck ignorant fuckwad capitol of the south? well you were correct, and LA is the same thing for the west coast. LA fucking sucks. but if you thought LA sucked, dont dare even stop the car if you’re in Riverside county. seriously.
the only part of southern california that shouldn’t be burned to a crisp is San Diego county.

are all cooler than LA. and people in La have this attitude like they’re the shit. well, they’re not. San Francisco is way more hip than LA and San Diego is a cooler beach town. the fuckin lakers play there for cryin out loud. do i have to list any more reasons than that? la sucks. especially when compared to the rest of california which is pretty dope.

That's right tempe!
Santa Cruz, CA “Surf City USA”
The surfers down here in LA are daft cunts, that’s for sure. The City (SF) is way cooler. But. . . . alas, I’m stuck here in LA myself. Sure wish we weren’t on the dole with our VC-money at this company I’m a part of. When I cash out, I’m heading back to Chile. My birthplace. But, then I’d have to sell my place here and in The City. I’m gonna cash out hard tempe, one of these days. Get outta this hell-hole. You said it brotha!
The nightlife is quite epic though. Prolly has a higher density of ‘hotness’ population than NorCal, but. . . .the people (read: relations) sure are vapid and banal. I’ve seen more ‘free’ shows here in month- than I’ve paid to see (of equal talent/pedigree) in 2 years, while living up in NorCal. There is something to be said about the ‘star power’. (maybe that’s just it though? EVERYONE thinks they’re ‘Lindsay’ or ‘Angelina’ or ‘Keanu’ or ‘Brad’. it’s just silly, it is)

That's not true ...
I live here in L.A. … in the valley (Studio City … 15 miles from Pasadena) and there is public transportation called Metrolink … http://www.metro.net/riding_metro/ … you can take a train from Universal City that’ll get you to Pasadena (cheap!) and there’s a free shuttle jut two blocks away that runs to the Rose Bowl. I’ve checked for some friends and there’s a few hotels and motels in my area that have reasonable rates. One is the Sportsman’s Lodge … http://www.slhotel.com/ … on Ventura Blvd. (10 minute drive to the Universal station). The last time I checked the rooms were at about $100 for a king bed.
Just checked this hotel out...
There are reservations still available but the rate is $181.26 taxes and all for a standard king.

As a veteran of many Rose Bowls/UCLA games
your best bet is to park in Old Town Pasadena and hop one of the shuttles to the stadium. The plus is that after the game they drop you where all the bars are for the victory celebration. If you plan to tailgate get there very early the freeways around the rose bowl pack up and the game being on a weekday will make it worse.
The Gold Line train runs from LA Union Station to Pasadena 24 hrs and there may be shuttles from there to the stadium.

I don’t even want to think about how much hotels are going to cost. At this point I don’t care if I have to sleep in my car – I’ll find a way to do it
check for a youth hostels. all the rich corporat fucks who are driving ticket prices up 400% would never dare step foot in a hostel.

If you've found tickets for $800...
…you should hop on them. Most I’ve seen are in the $900-$1,100 range.
I am noticing that....
….I saw a couple in the $800’s but they were probably terrible seats. I think I’ll just watch it from the house.
True on the $800
I went to the BCSCG in Glendale in ’06 and last year in Miami. Tickets for Glendale were $1000 minimum and nowhere to be found at all on gameday. Miami was a little better, but still steep ($1000) day of game.
The good news is that the Rose Bowl, while it has crappy views (so I’ve been told), it holds way more seats than the pro stadiums.
I was also at the 2006 Game
in Glendale (Dad is an Ohio St. grad) and me him, and my two brothers sat on the 15 yd line in the 1st row (High-fived Tedd Ginn before he took the opening kick back) and our tickets were 1300 each, but looking at the ticket prices for this game, seats comparable to those are going upwards of 2500! I’m just hoping I can somehow get a ticket anywhere in the damn stadium, i’ll sleep in my car if nessecary.

I went to the UCLA game in 2001....
And I think mostly the views are average. It’s more shallow, not as high as BDS, but it spreads out wide. Also, it’s pretty much smack in the middle of a residential neighborhood. The parking lot was pretty big. I thought the seating itself was adequate, but confusing. And please hold your bladder until the game is over.

i was at that game too
and we were waaaaaay up in the stands, in the end zone, and i thought the views were surprisingly good, especially since it’s such an old stadium. so i’d say probably any seat is a good one at the Rose Bowl.

I think I posted somewhere on the thread before
how many rows are in the Rose Bowl, but this directly from the Tournament of Roses website: “There are 77 numbered rows in the stadium. The lettered rows begin below Row 1, starting with Row "A" and descending down. The tunnel enters the stadium at Row 27. Each section is divided between low (seats 1, 2, 3, etc.) and high (seats 101, 102, 103, etc.) seating. If you are standing in the tunnel mouth facing the playing field, the low seats are to your left and the high seats are to your right.” So as someone else already said on here, you enter the stadium at ground level, but it goes down from there. Essentially it is built into a hole. What confuses me is the whole low and high seats. I have seen L and H on tickets everywhere and that is where that comes from but is still confusing.
There are 28 sections. And the upper level sections start with row 42. So keep that in mind when you look at tickets. And I have heard conflicting stories on the views. Some say the views are terrible and some say that they’re no bad seats in the house. I was talking to a PBR PR friend of mine last night and he said that he has been all over the stadium and he didn’t feel there is a bad seat in the house. I can’t find a for sure capacity. The Rose Bowl site says 90,000+, Wikipedia says 92,542 for a Rose Bowl game. If that is true then it only seats 404 more than BDS (for now!).
I think the biggest thing is that the views are subjective and the “facts” don’t really help any. However, I think that sections 12-18 are deemed the Alabama sections. I saw it somewhere on Monday but can’t find it now. I have looked at so many sites they have all run together now. Well, that is my analysis FWIW.

NEW Direct flight to the game on delta
I tried booking a ticket yesterday and all I could find was connecting flights over Atlanta for over 1,000 dollars. There is a new cheaper direct flight on delta today
Where are you flying out of?
I checked tickets two days ago and found tickets for $350 with a Denver connection.
I am sure you are coming from B'ham
but on Kayak.com they have tickets from N.O. at 225+ taxes and such. you must use the priceline negotiator.
Oh yeah....
If I find out any single one of you has extra tickets and didn’t sell them to me…you’re banned.
Stubhub, etc.
Okay. I’ve never done the whole Stubhub/online ticket thing before. Most of the tickets below $1000 have rows listed as TBA or they offer a wide range. Should I assume these are scalpers that don’t even know if they’ll have tickets? Is it better to go with someone that has an exact seat location? I know they have their money back guarantee, but I’m interested in getting to the game, not a refund.
i saw
plenty on there yesterday with rows and seats listed for $1k, but to be honest, ebay has a better selection
I got burnt...
…pretty bad by someone on eBay several years ago with a perfect rating out of something like 700 transactions. It would be sweating bullets to pay that much on Ebay unless it was someone in Alabama or Georgia or something where I could drive to meet them to handle the deal.
I bought my tix to homecoming from Stubhub
and didn’t have any issues. But that was a regular season game to a stadium that I know well. Like you, I wonder about those TBA tix. And also, on Ebay, they have tix that say “guaranteed Alabama section” and in the section is says DONOR and the row says BAMA….what does that mean? I want to go to this game really bad, but I don’t want to spend that kind of money on tix and then get there and they not be real. BTW, the first row in the upper level sections in the Rose Bowl start with row 43 and go to I think 77. Alot of tix that I have seen say row 60, so that is pretty dadgum high up….

Can you figure out

but they got another email about an hour ago and said that they did get them… hope everyone else has similar luck. I got my student ticket as well! Roll Tide.
I never thought that
I would be happy to not live in Alabama during a year that we went to a National Championship…but living in Vegas, I don’t have to spend the cash on airfare and if need be, I can spend that extra cash and get better tickets. I have my hotel reservations and I am watching so many Ebay auctions that my email box is full of notices from them. Does anybody know if the university is going to host an tailgate parties? I saw somewhere that ESPN might be doing one, but I can’t find any info on it…

I don't care if I'm sitting on one of the light poles...
…or on top of the scoreboard, I just want to be in there. :) I’ve found dirt cheap airfare and I have had multiple offers of a free place to stay, so I’m set on that end. I just need the ticket. :(
I was looking for "decent" seats...
but have decided that I agree with you. I don’t care where I am as long as I am there. I guess with the money I will be saving on airfare I can go buy me a great pair of binoculars! But I agree, I just need a ticket (well actually 2, the hubby needs to come with me). He has watched every single game with me this year and my superstitious self will not go without him!

Well this f'ing sucks
I have already bought my travel package. I put in for tix as soon as the order form came out. I ordered them online and they gave me a confirmation number with no disclaimer(if tix available). I get the email Sunday(after I made the travel plans without refund protection because like an idiot, I actually trusted that when I got a confirmation without a disclaimer, I had tix). Then get the email today that because I haven’t donated 10 million to the university, I don’t get the tix. If I didn’t love BAMA football so much, bacame friends with those around me inside BD and I didn’t know that there was a long waiting list just waiting to jump on my season tix, I would cancel them and just get some single game tix occasionally.

You want to know how deep Alabama football runs in this state?
I was, needless to say, disappointed that I didn’t get tix for the BCS title game (though that was the expected outcome) and felt like going out tonight to take my mind off of the disappointment.
So, I decide to pop over to Bottletree to see Pelican and figure that nobody there will really have anything to say about it. I run into this guy I haven’t seen in something like 2-3 years and he mentions have tickets to the game.
At a Pelican show? Seriously?
I got a student ticket
and a good friend of mine is moving out there right after new years because of an internship he got at IGN so I’ll be on a couch, but a free couch. I also managed a round trip plane ticket for 500 from STAtravel.
nice! maybe i’ll see you in the ticket line again… we’ll bring enough fried chicken for you this time…
the name, man
this is skoog, kathleen’s friend… we finally officially met at the pub a few weeks ago.
ok as far as the ticket master thing goes on the 15th....
Has anyone ever tried to get the tix this way? if So do you have any advice…..are you better of trying to call in at exactly 10:00 or are you better off trying to do it online at 10:00…..is there any secrets to getting through?….do you need to start dialing at 9:59 30 seconds…ext…….dont they sell phone jammers that call back toback to back ….would that be a sound investment for such a high level event…….I have never tried to beat the crowd on ticket master but i figured there has to be a tactical game plan ….please help me out….

I cannot imagine...
…trying over the phone for this game. It’s nearly impossible to get anyone on the phone at TM anymore. There servers are going to melt under the stress of the traffic (not quite literally, but pretty close.)
When Phish announced their reunion shows, I didn’t get any of the advance fan sale lottery tix, so I had to try the public on sale. Thought I had scored some when I was told I was in the queue to get tix and that my wait time was about two minutes. At about the 45 second mark, it told me my wait time was 28 minutes or something.
Obviously someone has to get them, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a TON of them pop up on TM’s resale almost immediately. It benefits them to make backroom deals with scalpers because they get the money off of the sale straight up and then they get a percentage when resold through their scalping site. There should be some sort of anti-trust thing where they can’t in the business of reselling, but the gov’t loves ’em some big business.
So you would recommend trying to get them online....are their limits if you do get through on how many you can get?

how much are they going
for off of ticketmaster? And I just went to ticketmaster’s website just to find the page to be able to buy just the tickets to the game but all I found was Travel/Ticket packages, can anyone provide the link? I’m also about to do a wide search for all the contests, sweepstakes, raffels, give-aways etc. in Texas and Alabama that are giving away tickets as the prize. I figure its worth a shot, I won 4 Tickets to the 99 SECCG this way. I’ll post the results on here if anyone else is interested.

Experience of a Texas from 2006
Hey guys, I’ve been lurking around a few Bama sites looking at what your ticket situation is like. I have a feeling that ticket prices may get very ugly for all of us before this thing is over. For the 2006 NC game (UT-USC), there were literally no tickets on the street. On my way to the stadium, I walked past at least 30-40 fans offering $1000-1200 for tickets and none were being sold. It had been a long time since Texas had been in that type of game, so Texas fans were unwilling to part with their tickets. I expect the same situation for this game.
On the message board I read, one of the posters is a ticket broker. He is saying that a lot of tickets on eBay and StubHub with undetermined sections and rows are posted by ticket brokers who are hoping to sell the tickets now for a higher price, and buy them cheaper later on. He says that if you buy one of these tickets (the situation I’m in now), there’s a chance that the seller may not be able to fill your order. They’ll probably refund your money, so won’t be out any thing, but at this point, I’d rather know I have a ticket than get my money back.
Anyway, hope that helps. Hook’em and Roll Tide.
P.S. Yes there are beer sales at the Rose Bowl.

Thanks for the info. That’s what I was guessing the situation was. They’re basically speculating on getting tickets.
I thought that was probably the case....
Thanks for the info! That saves me a lot of heartache. If they don’t get the tix and refund the money, I ’d have to start all over looking when I thought I had some…

Basically...
…it sounds like you want to go with someone that can give you a definite seating location if possible.
Absolutely...
trusting someone to refund your money to you and getting it put back in time to be able to purchase “real” tix is not something I want to have to deal with.

FWIW
eBay auction prices and StubHub prices have increased about $200 in the last 3 days. On Tuesday, 800 StubHub tickets were removed from the listing. The ticket broker on my board believes that these tickets were speculators who had underestimated the market. He says the best chance for the price to drop is when donors (Longhorn Foundation and Tide Pride) get their tickets and put them on the market. Texas announced which donors would be receiving tickets yesterday, and now there are a bunch of new listings on StubHub.
Does anyone know
which side of the field and/or which endzone is designated as Alabama’s? If I am going to have to purchase tix from Stubhub or Ebay, I want to make sure that I am not the only Bama fan in a sea of ’Horns…
by BamaGirlinDallas on Dec 9, 2009 1:59 PM CST reply actions
I was just on ebay
and a seller said that they had bought their tix from . So I went there and they tix available but they say section 56-77. Looking at the Rose Bowl seating chart, the sections only go to 28. I may call this place and see what is up. The really disturbing thing is that it sounds like people are buying them from one place and then turning around and selling them on ebay or another ticket website. It’s frustrating!!

I can't find anything online about them either...
I even tried the BBB. You would think if they had scammed people there would be complaints on there. You can’t even search them on google. I only found them because someone who has tix up on Ebay said they originally bought them there and was reselling them. They probably work for this place and put it up for people to find them. The prices are really too good to be true and mama always said anything too good to be true usually is….so I think that I am going to steer clear of them.
by BamaGirlinDallas on Dec 11, 2009 11:32 AM CST up reply actions
Only 2k tix available through ticketmaster!
Only 2,000 tickets are still available, other than marked-up resales through Internet sites such as StubÂHub.com that soon will flood the market.
What a crock…
I'm not so much disappointed by that...
…as I am disappointed that each school only got 25K. Half the stadium is pretty much corporate basically.
Well they had the reserve your team tickets which you had to be ballsy to get.
I know several people who got them. You go to the BCSCG website (before and during the season) and buy rights to team tickets and if your team made it you could buy tickets for every right you bought. Bama rights were around $90 per ticket beginning of the season up to $250 before the auburn game and dropped to $200 before the SecCG.
That is a lot of extra cash they made. I would think it is close to 25k plus they were selling this way. Fla reservations were $600+ and same for texas. So all that money florida fans paid they get no tickets and the same for any other team fans that reserved the right for tickets. They mad a killing off of those.

that's a good point
I assume those tickets were not out of the 25k that each school got… I wonder how many Bama fans went this route… I know a few that did
I went that route.
Paid $125 in early Nov. for the reservation (made two reservations) and got tickets for face value of $275. I really appreciate the Rose Bowl making this available. I could afford $400 per ticket, but not $1000.
It was a risk as I could lose your $250, but I just looked at it as insurance against feeling totally frustrated.
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.

we need to start worrying about plan B
where the hell is the game day party @ or near the site? i talked with the people at the Rose Bowl committee and they said the parking lot and tailgate areas (and i believe any and all access to the golf course thats right there) are going to be closed off to only people with tickets, and there’s nowhere else within a few miles that has public open space (yet another lovely “quality” of LA, it’s a fuckign wasteland with no parks, just development as far as the eye can see). also the roads that lead to the rose bowl are tiny residential roads that get clogged hours before normal games. i imagine it’ll be complete gridlock for hours and anyone who tries to buy from scalpers at the event and fails, is probably going to have to walk/run (cars will be at a stand still) a couple miles at least to get to any public gathering spot.
so where the hell is the Bama Alumni club holding their party? or more importantly, are we gonna organize a RBR party?

Texas side of the ticket crunch
As an FYI, here is a blog post from the Austin American Statesman that describes the supply and demand about tickets from the Texas perspective:
Tis better to give $1,500 if you want to receive BCS tickets
i'm surprised there's heavy demand from tejas fans
most of them are aware they’ll be witnessing their team get disemboweled before their very eyes. aren’t they?

They also sold a few thousand to Pasadena residents last Saturday.
You had to have a valid DL with a Pasadena addy.
I also thought the Rose Bowl was bigger than our stadium in the 100k range but it is pretty much the same capacity as BDS.
I am riding the fence right now. Really trying to get a good Idea of how much this will cost me. I normally can not have any off days (other than NYD) at the beginning of the year, but I think my boss will try to let me off cause I had to work during the Iron Bowl when I had tickets for the first time in 7 years. The thought of LA isnt very appealing but dang this seems like something I dont want to miss.

tempe's 100% correct
I’ve had the misfortune of having to live here for a good 9 years, still do. I bought a place in Santa Monica just as Bush came to power. I got in when the deals were good. To be sure, the property/housing prices have soared and so has the cost of living here. I attended USC and nothing around USC is good for anything. Now, the prices are retarded. For instance, back when I first got here- you could buy a drugged-out/vermin-infested Craftsman for about 4 – 8 hundred K. Now? Same place for 800K – ???
Retarded!
People are gobbling that shit up. They’re crazy.
Now, in and around the Staples Center (which, btw- is within a 1.5 mi proximity to the USC campus) is jumping due to the new LA Live center that buttresses up against the Staples Ctr (AEG-conglomerate money). But still, south of campus is STILL A HELL HOLE. There’s this place called West Adams (which I almost bought into instead of my Sea Collection residence here in SM) that had/has some pretty good ‘ceiling’ to it (pun intended). It’s still a ghetto though.
It’s the people here though. tempe is a man of passion, but he has integrity. And what he’s saying is the truth. But it’s weird though. Black, white, Hispanic, or Asian? They’re all capital putzes! Especially the surfing community here. I have friends, yes. They’re mostly native Angelenos. That’s the ticket though. It’s those that come to LA from abroad or out of state who are ‘waitstaff waiting for their big break’ that give LA it’s bad name. They’re the ones who elect to take ownership of LA and give the locals (in the city areas) the bad name. The locals along the beach side area’s are jokers though. I’ve gotten into so many bad situations just trying to surf down here. Clocked many a m-fers over sharing a beach. I’m getting too old to keep seeing my physician over dinks and bruises and broken body parts over crap like that.
Pasadena is beautiful, it is. Everybody is safe there. The Westside (where I live) is also that way. Just don’t try surfing at any of the good spots. If you’re into drankin- The Daily Pint is my hangout. So is Rick’s Tavern. There’s The Circle Bar, but you’re sure to get into a fight there. The ‘chicks’ are freaky in that place though. Venice is the place, as is Abbot Kinney, and Venice Pier, and Marina Del Rey. Good eats in all those places. People are friendly there and will treat you right. I take cabs in downtown LA and pay the extra cash to get VIP’d anywhere/everywhere I go. You pretty much have to, if not- you’ll be/get punked right quick. Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood is a rocker’s paradise. Great shows and cheap too. Whiskey-A-Go-Go and The Viper Room are places I know people and walk right in without any hassle whatsoever. The door people are chill if you’re from out of town and if you put on your Southern charm- you can get away with murder with those cats. My buddy Atilla is the manager at The Viper. He’s a South African who wishes he was a brotha from ’Bama. He told me so. He wears a Bear Bryant shirt I got him a long time ago, and he wears it on “Hot Night” (new live/up-&-coming band nights).
LA is tolerable if you wanna make it that way, but like anywhere else- these people can turn on you at the drop of a hat. For what it’s worth.

LA can be good or bad-
I’ve read a lot of negative comments regarding LA. I lived there for 2 years & I loved it. Before I moved out there, a guy I knew who lived there said, ‘LA can be really good or really bad, it all depends on you.’ Meaning, there’s so much going on in LA that each individual has the opportunity to make the experience pleasant or unpleasant.
The real estate market is insane, the pollution is terrible & if you can’t do traffic it’s not the place for you. But if you like 70 degree, dry weather virtually year round or the possibility of eating a cheeseburger with Drew Carey (I was eating at the counter in the Big Boy in Burbank & Drew sat right next to me – nice guy), it’s fantastic. The architecture is amazing. The flora & fauna are beautiful. And if you’re into the arts, there’s something to do every night. I love all kinds of music & there were bands that I knew playing just about every night somewhere. A lot of the movie stars still perform on stage as well, so there’s always an opportunity to see someone in person performing in a play. The Apple Pan has some of the best burgers you’ll eat & the Getty Museum is incredible. Not to mention all the outdoor activities you can do — it’s possible to go surfing in the morning & snow skiing in the afternoon with the close proximity of the ocean & mountains.
Once we have enough money to afford a house on the beach (to avoid the pollution as much as possible), my wife & I will be moving back.
When the Boogeyman goes to sleep every night he checks his closet for Mark Ingram.
I hope you make it back birthgoat!
LA NEEDS GOOD PEOPLE! I can’t emphasize that enough. Indeed, you have your head screwed on right- about LA, the weather, and the social environment. I’m 3 streets off the beach- close enough to see the waves and hear the beer bottles rolling down the street after closing time. I’ll be selling in about 4 years, if you like Santa Monica/Marina Del Rey? Look for “Sea Collection” homes and townhouses. I have a 4 bdrm on a lot of about 10 units- underground parking (someone’s always in my place- there’s 3 celebrities that live in our complex so . . . .they have asshole friends who think ???? whatever it is they feel the compulsion to do for that moment. . . .idiots!). Sea Collection have awesome financing (in house) and they keep (mgmt) it looking tight. I have my own front and back yard but, they keep my place painted and windows clean. I do my own gardening. ‘Check them out, if you’re able.
Good luck on getting back here. Like I said, we can use good people out here!

Is about 3/4 mi from where I live- I live in Ocean Park. I like their food, but the little jukeboxes they have on the dining tables don’t work at that location. That’s a mighty fine area to be living too (too close to fUcla for me though. wanna know something weird? I have clinic on Wednesdays at Ronald Reagan Hospital on Ucla campus though. arrrrrgh!)

National Championship After Party @ the Roxy on Sunset Strip
If you’re looking for something to do after the game, let me suggest this: The Roxy on Sunset strip. Live music, revelry, and a hometown band to set your hearts aflame. I play in a band called Seducing Alice, comprised almost entirely of Alabama grads (circa 04-06) and we lucked out in booking and HEADLINING the Roxy after the BCS Title Game, thus we are dubbing it an after party. So, if you were curious about finding a fun, football-friendly crowd after the game, then look no further. but I did notice last week on the Tournament of Roses website a link to maps. I clicked it and there is an overhead view of the Rose Bowl and surrounding parking and such that is specifically for the BCSNCG. The interesting thing is, if you zoom in on it and look on the left and below left of the stadium, there are 2 places marked “Alumni Tailgate Party”. This could mean that they are already designated as spots for both universities to have their own tailgate parties. Just throwing it out there as a possibility….here is the link.

I just learned that Citi tickets available for presale to citicard members… see here
Also, if you look at ticketmaster’s sale page you’ll see a section for that as well.
I’ve been a Citi member for at least 5 years… All I needed was an email with a heads up, Citi! COME ON!!
dont feel too bad
i too am a card holder and was online refreshing my page like crazy and tried to get two and they sold out within 30 seconds
The Best Brother in Law in the World...
lives in LA. He just got me two through some local residents at face value. My nine year old son knows what he is getting for Christmas now.
As a Stanford grad though, he was a little miffed about the Heisman, but thankfully that did not undo the deal.
I have been in Ticketmaster since 7:59 am and it is still searching for my tix. I do not want to hit the refresh or back button as I am afraid to lose my plsce in line. The old saying “No news is good news right now” !!

TicketMeiser Sucks!!
I am a Crimson Tide fan from back in Pensacola stuck out here in SoCal. As a matter of fact just one hour or so from the Pasadena Rose Bowl. I have been reading alot of your threads and posts about this game and the tickets. I too, am without a ticket for this big game and a once in a lifetime chance to see my favorite team play in it. I think it’s total bullshit what the ticketmeiser agaency is allowed to do and for that matter what the scalpers (brokers) are allowed to do. I will try my best still to get a ticket but if I do fail, I would love to set something up with those of you that are diehard Alabama fans and will not have a ticket for the game. Some of you have said that there will be big screens in the parking lot. I would love to confirm this! If not, I will be staying in front of my BIG Screen TV at home. Roll Tide to all you Bama fans!!! And congrats to Ingram for our first!!

I have tried every way conceivable...
…aside from paying $800 a pop for the tix. I have resolved myself to tailgating outside the stadium. Only tow hopes remain, the University gets more tickets so that they drop doen to the 60 TPP level or maybe lucking up outside the stadium on some decent priced tix. As far as tailgating goes, I am gonna spend most of the day HERE. At least I was able to get those tix from TicketBastard.
Auburn and Tennessee fans are a lot like Slinkys...neither are worth much but you do get a sense of satisfaction from pushing them down a flight of stairs
Thanks for that link...
I knew that ESPN was doing a tailgate party but could not find any links to it. I should have tix coming this week, but I might go to it before the game. Especially if a lot of us on here are going to be there.

Vegas for the game...
Any tide fans going to Vegas for the game? I want to get a tailgate going in sin city…as there is no way in hell i am going to pay 1200 so me and my boy can go to the game, and to be honest the “TailGating” looks gay and boring…not to mention it’s not near the stadium…

Hey, does anyone know what sections are the Bama sections?
I’m going to buy some tickets, and want to sit with the friendlies.
Those are the sections
that I have been told as well. My understanding is like the diagram above shows, the “double digit” section side is the Alabama sideline and sections 12-18 are the tix sent to Tide Pride, the band, faculty, etc. I found out this morning that my tickets are on the Texas side of the field, but hey, I’ll be in there, so that is all that matters! I just hope to be happy to be on that side at the end of the game!

I have a friend
that did the rose bowl reservations thing for “Alabama” (so I’d assume he’ll be sitting with Bama fans) and his tickets are in section 10, I think.
I got tickets from ticketmaster and mine are in section 24… which leads me to believe that this section truly will be “general”.
I did the Rose Bowl reservation for Alabama
and my tickets are in section 11. So I’m guessing all those folks who went that route are very close to the offical Bama side.
But from what I hear there will be more Texas than Bama present.
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.
A little bit of a shorter trip...
…with some direct flights. It will be a bit cheaper for the majority of Texas fans. I will have my butt out there though from the great state of Alabama. Just need some affordable tix, dammit.

Ticket prices are starting to fall a little...
And I suspect that right after Christmas they will come down even more. All these brokers were counting on everyone buying tickets as Christmas gifts and so far it doesn’t appear that that has happened. They will have to start dropping their prices soon in order to sell them…

Once they reach 400
I am buying, otherwise, I will try my luck in Pasadena or just end up partying with my fellow BAMA fans after the game.

what, it's only 1 day 8 hours
for Alabama fans who don’t want to pay $69493965833 to fly

Actually, I got my travel package pretty cheap
I wnet with the Shat, flying out on the 6th and back on the 9th. Flights/hotel/rnetal car thru Priceline is gonna cost me $500 and my best friend $500. Now just need some tix in the $400 or less range.

Wow, that is pretty good
I had heard the $500 figure dropped before but I had thought that was only the flight. I’m road trippin to get there. Trying to decide if I should take the southerly route to avoid possible weather concerns or the northerly route to avoid all those border checkpoints

Might have been posted elsewhere already
but this thread’s getting a little bulky.
In any case, who is planning on tailgating? Can we do that AT the rose bowl, and is there an additional cost? I think it would be cool to be able to identify other RBR folks (maybe wearing some of those buttons?)
Since this thread is getting a little long and is covering everything...
…I’m locking this one and starting three threads to deal with the following:
And this one is locked.
