22=13?
A few of you may remember how significant the number 13 was the last time we won a national championship: it had been 13 years since our last title (1979), we allowed Miami only 13 points, George Teague wore #13, we were the first ever 13-0 team, etc. Something else you may have noticed Saturday is the significance this year of the number 22 in securing our only SEC title of the decade.
(19)22: The year of Alabama's first 'signature' win, a 9-7 victory at then-mighty Pennsylvania...also the last year for famed head coach Xen Scott at the Capstone. He would be replaced by Wallace Wade, who would lead 'Bama to her first three national titles.
22: The number of points Alabama scored vs. Ole Miss, who graced the Sports Illustrated College Football Preview issue and was favored by them (and others) as the favorite to win the SEC West this year. Obviously, these prognosticators were way off...the Rebels are just lucky that Les Miles still has a job at LSU.
22: The number of Mark Ingram, who carried the ball 28 times for 113 yards and a season-high three rushing touchdowns vs. the Florida Gators Saturday. He also had two receptions for 76 yards in the 32-13 win, which helped the Tide garner an appearance against Texas in the BCS National Championship Game on January 7th. Ingram has gained 1542 yards and 15 rushing touchdowns this season while also gathering 30 receptions for a total of 322 yards (three touchdowns). Ingram has averaged 6.2 yards per carry and topped the century mark eight times in 13 starts. His best game came against South Carolina when he carried the ball 24 times for 246 yards and one touchdown in a 20-6 victory.
22: The number of total wins against Florida, versus their fourteen versus Alabama.
2/2: Leigh Tiffin's field goal performance in the SEC Championship game. For posterity's sake, we won't discuss post-touchdown conversion attempts.
22: The number of SEC Championships for Alabama, the most of any school in SEC history. The University of Tennessee is a distant second with 13 titles.
Trivial, perhaps, but this has been a special year for a special team, much like the aforementioned 1992 squad. Speaking of which, you may also have noticed the number 13 is still playing a significant role in 2009...we only allowed 13 points to Florida, to win our 13th game, to allow us to play for our 13th national championship....

I just hope we win titles in 2010 and 2011
Because they won’t even play for the title in 2012. I guess we could still win the SEC then, though.
Say huh?

2012 = doomsday, according to Roland Emmerich.
You have opinions. We all do. Some of yours may have to do with the Falcons. Sign up today and share them.
It's horrible that Alabama has returned to the top...
just in time to have it ruined by the end of the world. Or maybe the Mayans were referring to Alabama’s rise as the cause of doomsday (in that we’re going to destroy everything in our path)? If that’s the case, then I can’t argue with Roland Emmerich.
Nobody can stop Alabama. Not even John Cusack. In the mean time, I’m going to start building an Arc to save the Alabama fans from “The (Crimson) Flood.” All fans of other teams WILL BE JUDGED.

Originally...
…I had titled this ‘2+2=1+3’, but I thought it would be more confusing that way….

Dude it took
me like 2 minutes trying to pronounce signigicant. Until I realized it was a typo and you were trying to spell significant. This is not a dig at you, rather I am simply pointing out what an idiot does for two minutes when they come across a word they have never seen. I was literally sounding it out phonetically-aloud-to-myself.
sorry 'bout that...
…and fixed….

I love shit like that!
English is my third language, and so brotha. . . .I’m with ya! (I still do that ALL THE TIME. I was at a mall and asked my friend – who’s a girl, “What’s beh-zheh-wu-led”? She said, “Whaaaat?” I said, “What’s beh-zheh-wu-led?” and pointed to a sign above a store. She says, "No Tris, that’s says “Bejeweled” (bee-jew-elled")
Duh!
Right there with ya brah!

Just Saw This
on Texas’ Burnt Orange Blog “So, subjectively, I have faith that Mack will pull it all together and trot a better product out onto the Rose Bowl turf (which, incidentally, we own) to square off with Alabama (who, incidentally, we also own). Cody ain’t Suh; McElroy ain’t Jerrod. I believe that if Alabama comes onto the field in Pasadena expecting to see the same Texas team they’ve seen for the last two weeks, they are going to be quite shocked at the whirling ball of butcher knives they run into.” I Thnk this should be great bulletin board to motivate our players.
You believe...
…that what a homer Texas fan writes on a blog would be used to motivate Alabama’s players?
Whatever gets the job done
"So I want everybody to think here for a second, how much does this game mean to you? 'Cause if it means something to you, you can't stand still. You understand? You play fast! You play strong! You go out there and dominate the man you're playing against, and you make his ass quit! That's our trademark! That's our M.O.... as a team! That's what people know us as!" - Coach Nick Saban before the 2008 LSU game.
