LSU Loses Recruiting Coordinator...
I have absolutely no idea what prompted this, but LSU Asst Josh Henderson has abruptly left for Mizzou of all places. According to SI, at LSU Henderson was the TE's coach, and was the recruiting coordinator. At Mizzou, he will be assistant offensive line coach. What's more, he held the recruiting coordinator position in Baton Rouge since 2005.
Does anyone have any scurillous speculation? I'e got my own entirely unsubstantiated theory that involves Randle, Benton and pulled schollies. Because, face it, how are you going to try to get your guys into HS locker rooms, with how that sorry affair turned out? How do you sell your head guy, and his subordinates, as trustworth?
Again, that is is entirely unsubstantiated, and is just me imposing ethics and honor on the LSU coaching staff from without.

There was some real
dirty stuff at LSU with Randle. I doubt it will be investigated, but Henderson just might not have a good feeling about working with Miles.

If
thats the case, then that tells me that RR was a real threat to go to Alabama or OU, and was not the ‘lock’ we were all told by LSU fans. It also speaks to the incredible pressure Miles must be under to compete with Saban/Alabama.

This has nothing to do with any Benton or Randle story.
There were rumors of Henson to Mizzou back in December.
O-line coach is a much bigger bullet on a resume than TE coach or recruiting coordinator. Henson wants to be an OC and eventually a HC one day. He needs to be an O-line coach first for that to happen. LSU didn’t have an opening and Mizzou did. Henson played for Les Miles at Ok St, there is no bad blood there. It’s even been said that Les will bring Henson back to LSU if and when he needs a new O-line coach.
The plan the entire time was for Henson to stay until after signing day to secure all of our recruits. This was no surprise to anyone associated with LSU.

Well I'm glad some of your coaches
Have more loyalty than some of ours….

Thanks
for clearing that up. Any idea who will replace him?

They Bayou Bengal Blog threw out some names today...
They included, Clint Conque, Dave Brock, Reed Stringer and Terry Joseph. You’ll have to google those guys because I’m too lazy to provide links. There is also talk of promoting our ST coach and then trying to replace him instead.
I think Henson is a great guy, I met him at an alumni event last year, and I think that it could have some impact on recruiting if we don’t find a guy who is at his level, but ultimately Larry Porter is the brains behind the recruiting. There has been talk of making Porter the recruiting coordinator as well.

Thanks for the update...
Like I said, completely unsubstantiated wishful thinking on my part :)

What does that do to recruiting though?

Not much...
…I’m guessing. Isn’t the recruiting coordinator at LSU the guy who coordinates recruits suits and ties with their houndstooth really, really big hats?

Henderson
will “share” OLine coaching responsibilites at Mizzou with Walker per SI. He is not getting that big a promotion because as TE coach he is already sharing OLine coaching as it is. You would think if he as such a wiz kid that he could land a bigger deal than sharing OL at Mizzou.
You have to also wonder if losing Bell and Jackson the way they lost them at the last minute didn’t lead to some heated discussions on the staff at LSU. I mean it would be like Bama losing Nico Johnson & Kevin Norwood a committed 5 star and 4 star on NSD. You don’t think Saban would be hot.
Say what you will but it might be more than just a coach moving up.

I’d guess it had more to do with Miles’ failed courtship of Orgeron than anything else, if I had to guess.

Only Miles and Kiffin...
…would court Orgeron. I don’t care if he can sell nudie mags to a blind man, I never want to see that oaf in Crimson.
