Does Anyone Know Anything about Softball?
The 7-0, #1 ranked Alabama Softball team deserves our attention, people, yet we here at Roll Bama Roll know absolutely nothing about them or the game they play. So if any of you enterprising scamps wants to come on board as the official softball commentator, hit those fanposts with some sample writing and we'll see what's what.

I watched them in the World Series last year....
…and they were a lot of fun to watch. Brittany Rogers is their spark plug. She’s a great hitter and fielder and quickly became my favorite player. Kelley Montalvo is TINY, listed at just 5’0", but can tear the cover off the ball and is a good fielder. Charlotte Morgan is also a great hitter who can send the ball out of the ballpark in a hurry. She hit a bomb against Arizona last year that was gone by a LONG, LONG ways.
They also have outstanding pitchers in Kelsi Dunne, Charlotte Morgan and Amanda Locke who have combined for an era of 0.60.
Now I’d love to follow and possibly cover the team for the website but I live in Michigan and can’t ever watch them. Regardless, someone should be writing about them because they’re too good to be overlooked.

I coach
high school softball in Baton Rouge, LA and let me tell you…the BAMA softball team deserves all the attention they get, they are THAT good! Softball is normally dominated by teams with outstanding/overpowering pitching and great hitting and this BAMA team has both. Coach Pat Murphy her-to-fore known as CPM is highly regarded as one of the best hitting coaches/instructors in the game and it show with the numbers they put up on a continual bases, as they get production from 1-9 in the lineup. Siggy is correct with his assessment of the players, as Brittany is a phenomenal lead off hitter, Monty is just an all around good ball player and Charlotte Morgan is a “beast” as my daughter describes her…whom is a good softball player in her own right. These girls just know how to win and CPM is probably the second best coach behind CNS at UA.

There are a few things I can relate about softball.
I’ve just started to get into the game (the school where I work has been in two of the last three D2 championship games) but here’s what I know so far. Good pitching will always beat good hitting. The last five championship games have been shutouts (and 20 out of 33 overall). All the great hitting in the world can’t touch a great pitcher when she’s on. That’s why Kelsi Dunne is so important to this team. Most teams only carry two or three pitchers so having an ace is huge. Last season Dunne gave up an average of about one run a game and had shutouts in one-third of her starts, including two no-hitters.
Charlotte Morgan is a freak (and I mean that in the best way possible). She was a POY finalist, led the country in RBI and won 18 games (yeah, she pitches too).
