Rueben Randle Update
So it's been an interesting day on the Rueben Randle front. I know on the radio show last night, among other places, I said I fully expected him to sign with LSU, however...
There was a big thread on Tiger Droppings earlier where someone started a rumor that Randle wasn't going to LSU, and it was meltdown mode immediately. This was preceded a couple of hours by Kirk McNair saying that he had heard that our staff had gotten good news on Randle.
And then... Rueben Randle's father apparently went off to a local journalist in North Louisiana. He talked about how the LSU coaching staff had lied to his son about what position he would play, etc., and it was pretty ugly sounding. He did say that LSU was still in it, but the LSU boards everywhere are in absolute meltdown.
Now don't get me wrong, I still fully expect Randle to sign with LSU, so please don't get your hopes up. I'd love to be wrong, but realistically speaking that's probably not going to happen. Nevertheless, about half of the LSU fan base is about to have a heart attack over this one right now, so enjoy the volcano erupting from a safe distance. Again, I don't think he'll be headed anywhere but Baton Rouge ultimately, but enjoy the entertainment while it lasts.

I heard it was over a conflict...
of him splitting time with DeAngelo Benton, but who knows at this point. It will be an absolutely sick recruiting day if we pull RR.
it's not a rumor it has been confirmed...
that RR’s dad was on an LSU radio station ranting about this.
No rumor...
It’s certainly not a rumor, it’s coming straight from Randle’s father.
Still, though, that doesn’t mean he’s not signing with LSU. Again, I’m going to have to see the name “Rueben Randle” on a dotted line with Alabama or Oklahoma letterhead before I’ll believe LSU misses on him.

The
logic is dumb. RR wouldn’t go to LSU because of Benton? Doesn’t make sense. Especially since we all know that our coaching staff has been using the fact that we have Julio as a sales pitch. Julio was even RR’s host during his visit. I’m not taking much out of this. He’s going to LSU.
Thirty-Six to Nothing
The one...
… rationale that makes sense to me is that this is just being done to take pressure off of him going out-of-state.
Still though, I think he’s going to LSU either way.

Liked this analysis about RR by topdaddy on another thread
Well, his “ceremony” is very late in the day for someone with his mind made up. We had most every big name signed by 1 or 2 o’clock last year. Sounds like he holding out for someone elses decision before he makes his own.

I just hope if he signs with Bama his dad shuts up
I don’t know if I could take dear ole dad griping about coaching decisions all the time – it’d be too much like 5-year-old T-ball. On the other hand, it would definitely be easier to listen to if Randle proves his 5 stars on the field over the first couple of seasons!
I bleed crimson and white...I puke Vol puke orange. RTR
Well...
In all fairness to the Randle family, they have been very nice and appreciative throughout the entire process. They haven’t been drama queens or demanding, or anything of the sort. They have handled it just like you hoped they would have.
And that’s really what makes Randle’s father’s comments so surprising. If he were a guy who normally just popped off at the mouth, no one would be thinking twice about this.

I just read this on an LSU forum...
And if Randal does sign with Bama, when he comes to Tiger Stadium, his height and weight after the game will only be able to be estimated from his partial remains. His torso will be severed in mid-thorax; there are no major organs remaining…
and his right arm will be severed above the elbow with massive tissue loss in the upper musculature… partially denuded bone remaining…
And as far as the Bama fans are concerned, when we get them silly bastards down in Tiger Stadium, it’ll be some fun; they’ll wish their fathers had never met their mothers (or sisters in some cases).
Wow…that is some serious class. THIS IS WHY PEOPLE HATE LSU FANS! They take everything to the extreme when a player exercises his right to choose! I can’t even begin to describe how wrong that post is.
"Them" was down there a few months ago
and left with a win and their still-intact torsos.

AND...
if i remember correctly, that other 5 star WR we have ended up carrying 5 to seven defenders with him every time he caught the ball.
ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!
please
there are bad apples in every school’s fanbase. lsu is no different in that respect than bama, auburn, tennessee, or, as much as it pains me to say, florida.
true, but cjackson's right...
lsu has a higher percentage than most. that still doesn’t make them all bad, but facts are facts.
well
i dont see how that makes for “fact.” As someone who has had cups of urine thrown on him at The Swamp, i would say that Florida fans are the worst.
Why...
…would they waste their favorite beverage like that?

Tease.
“Now don’t get me wrong, I still fully expect Randle to sign with LSU, so please don’t get your hopes up.”
Like that’s going to happen. It’s too late to look at this rationally. My hopes are up! Welcome to Tuscaloosa, Mr. Randle!
Randle or not, I think we’ll be happy tomorrow.
Here we are...
…the night before NSD, wimpering over an athletically talented teenager’s choice of college ball program.
It is funny every year to see the anxiety of our posts when compared to the anxiety of what this young man must be feeling…deciding if he has a moral obligation to a program in his state of residence versus the opportunity to play wide receiver in the “pass-happy” Big XII for one of their best coaches versus the opportunity to play at Alabama.
Personally, I want to see him and JJ tearing up the backfield in the SEC, while TR runs through the tackles. But I hope that he makes the best decision for himself and can become part of a team, wherever he goes. And if he does go elsewhere, I hope Dre’s got him covered.
Second fiddle to Julio
I don’t see that argument holding water. First off, Jones is a year ahead of them and will likely go to the NFL after his junior year. So Randle would have at least one, possibly two, years of being the star. Secondly, these kids are different kinds of receivers and would make an awesome tandem. Think Randy Moss/Wes Welker or Boldin/Fitzgerald.
And now...
Randle is now talking about pushing off his decision. Though he has a noon press conference scheduled tomorrow at his school, he has now gone on the record saying that he might not sign tomorrow.
He’s still going to LSU, IMO, and he’ll just push it along and create more drama and intrigue around his recruitment. He’s starting to sound like Terrelle Pryor was a year ago… a kid who drags it out forever only to do what everyone knew he was going to do all along.
I hope I’m wrong and that he signs with ‘Bama, but that’s my gut instinct. I bet he waits, they smooth over whatever differences they have with the coaching staff, and then he signs with LSU a few days or weeks after NSD.

How many schools are going to make us their top rival?
I mean, we aren’t even able to choose our rivals because we are apparantly becoming everyone’s rival. Who cares about LSU?
