I hear rumors that Kenny Bell has yet to send his LOI
Word is now that Kelly signed with us, he will stick with LSU…
Any of you guys heard this?
When you are an Alabama fan you are expected to hate Auburn, I hate Tennessee because I want to.

Nick Saban
Every guy that was verbally committed to us, signed with us today
Not to mention he is actually on rolltide.com. I am pretty sure the university could not make a comment on a player who did not send in his LOI.

This quote speaks volumes
“Last year, when they pulled in the nation’s No. 1, class it made a huge impression on me,” McCarron said when he committed. “All the top players in the state wanted to play for Alabama, and that made me and the other top juniors take notice. Coach Saban does a great job recruiting.”

Recruiting is truly...
the epitome of a self-perpetuating phenomenon. All it takes is one PHENOMENAL year, and then a little capitalizing, and the next year’s class takes notice, ad infinitum. Seriously, McCarron’s statement just absolutely validated my long-standing theory of recruiting: we are dealing with 17-19 y.o. kids, and the message is the substance. Of course, this requires a helluva’ closer and a coach who can turn the substance into the message (whoooo! circular!), but we’re damned lucky to have the best in the business at that.
Roll Tide, young men, and welcome to the best 5 years of your life (three if you’re Trent Richardson! LOL!)

I went to Youtube
to watch the video (for the song) and it has been removed for copyright reasons. In the words of the gay biker in Cheech and Chong’s Next Movie, “Pity.”

FREAKS WITH THE ROUNDEST REARS
I’m so upset the video isn’t up anymore! That was going in the “settin’ the mood” widget post haste after yesterday.

Today
validates last year and last season. It really is a process and we are on our way. A lot can happen and nothing is gauranteed but a nuetral observer would have to feel that the tide in the state has really turned and the tide in the SEC is about to turn, if not this year, than after Superman graduates. Personally I think, that even though we are very young and have an inexperienced QB we will take the SEC this year.
I would not advise betting against the guys at Bama right now or Nick Saban.

Finebaum words of wisdom
With this 2nd in a row #1 class, we just pulled even farther away from the ole Cow College across the state.

very true

Isn't saying...
…#1 recruiting class sufficient? The notion of “Recruiting National Championship” is lame.

Man, where ya' been?
I asked about “Nico” yesterday and someone said that you signed in the AM. Guess I should have been more specific!

Hey Nico,
Forgive me today for being remiss in not thanking you, too, for such a great site. I was all full of glee and just forgot ya! You 3 are the best and you deserve big-time paying advertisers. Call me if you need a rec!

See!
All that hand wringing you guys and gals (which is the fun part, like a scary movie . . .), told you that your class would be as good or better than anyone’s!
’Grats and good luck oh an uhhh . . .

What impressed me.....
was not just the skill players recruited but the specialty guys also, ie: William Ming. IMO this will solidify us depth wise more than I’ve seen at Bama since Coach Bryant days, and it should only get better.
By the way MBM, how did the Utes do recruiting wise? Your run on Somaon players is quite impressive.
Well, are you gonna pull them pistols, or whistle dixie?

Ute Recruits
We got everyone we’d recruited to a commitment signed, we did not get any of the big fish in the west that were still available and we were “on the lists” of a few, but we don’t get that kind away from USC.
A Couple of our kids though were recruited by Nebraska and other Big 12 schools and several pac-10 schools. We did very well head to head with UCLA, the Arizona teams, OSU and Oregon.
Clearly, our talent pool is improving—not at your rate, but then, there aint as much talent in Nevada, Utah, Idaho, etc.
Whittingham has a good eye for kids that fit his program, so we’ll see. 5 of our kids come from football royalty out west, kids whose parents and several cousins and uncles were stud players so that is promising, but again we will see. Our biggest disappointment was not getting Sua-Filo, our biggest haul was James Aiono and a couple of the linemen.
Our biggest concern was replacing linemen and finding a QB for next year. This year’s backup, Louks, came from a throwing school, but so far he has not seen much time.
Also, we are still two coaches light (we lost 4), though the D-Line hire, former NFL D line coach John Pease, is a great guy and good coach. I’d say we got some talented kids, but without an O Line coach as yet, I’m con-carned.
I don’t think we replaced our three senior receivers well. But, Whittingham excels at finding places for kids to play who never played that spot. Paul Kruger was a star recruit at Quarterback, as an example. Coach Whit has had great success moving O and D linemen around.
I have a feeling his lightly regarded nephew will turn into a head hunter at safety. Both Coach Whit and his brother were nasty hitters and extremely intelligent, 100% motor at all times, players.
To my ignorant eye we need another running back and WR so be charitable send a couple our way, it’d be mighty nice and neighborly of y’all.
