Our Favorite Auburn Athlete

My fellow Bama fans, despite our widespread and oft proven belief that anyone foolish enough to attend that "cow college" in the far eastern portion of the state has been bereft of their mental faculties, there may be reason to believe not all are beyond hope.

I present you one Joseph Sanders, Junior infielder for Auburn's baseball team, who is having a rather good season, thankyouverymuch. During football season, though, he has the good sense to root for the right team - the Crimson Tide.

"Every year, during football season,[my teammates] all ask me, 'How's it possible? How's it possible? How's it possible?' " Sanders told The Montgomery Advertiser. "It's something that's not changing."

How loyal is this kid? He has autographed photographs of all the recent Alabama coaches on his wall - except Franchione, which was taken down when he left for Texas A&M, and Price, who wasn't around long enough to matter.

So while none of this is sufficent to actually root for this fine young man's team tonight when they face the Crimson Tide squad in the Capital City Classic, it's worth remembering that at least one of the players out there wearing the hated orange and blue knows what colors really matter come Fall.

This actually kinda sucks

Remember the UA male cheerleader that said war eagle during the Iron Bowl on TV. He lost his scholarship the next week. I don’t like AU, but this guy should pull for the barn in all matters.

I wouldn't piss off the boys from Alabama . . .

He grew up down the street from me...

….his older sister and I graduated from Homewood together. He was quite a character.

No way

The barn gave him a scholarship and a chance to do what he wants to do with his life. That doesn’t mean he should have to renounce his Tide loyalties.

Being a fan doesn’t mean screwing your life over just so you don’t have to wear orange and blue.

Whatev...

Sounds like we finally have evidence of someone down there with a functioning brain.

This is interesting.

I wonder if he even goes to Auburn football games.

I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.

I tried going to LSU games

during grad school because I had cheap student tickets. I figured out its nearly impossible to cheer on a rival even if you go to school there. It just flat out does not compute. It felt dirty, like I was cheating on a wife/girlfriend.

So no, I bet Mr. Sanders does not go unless he is forced as a PR move for being a baseball player. Especially since its Auburn, God, I would rather pull for Red China.

Obviously...

…the guy wanted a quality education over what he could find in Tuscaloosa. I saw plenty of that during my tenure on the Plains.

Fixed..
Obviously the guy wanted a free ride on a baseball scholarship because he couldn’t cut it in Tuscaloosa. I saw plenty of that during my tenure on the Plains while shoving my arm up cow rectums and participating in my frat’s racist parties.

Those were...

COW-TIPPING parties, thank you!

Come on Brandon. I expect better from you than that…

Like: he couldn’t get admitted into Alabama. OR: He wasn’t good enough to play for the Tide.

Look. I’m just on here to scout if you guys did a Julio for Senate story. I see you did, so I’ll have to come up with my own.

The guy wanted a quality education over what he could find in Tuscaloosa . . . but had to settle for Auburn?

Man. Tough life for that kid.

When you are an Alabama fan you are expected to hate Auburn, I hate Tennessee because I want to.

i wouldn’t expect UA fans to be shouting from the roof tops that we are the 83rd best university in America. At least im not….

Actually 83 is solid

UA is ca. 30 for public schools. With the increased enrollment, especially of out-of-state students, and the endowment reaching 1 billion, we should continue to improve.

I wouldn't piss off the boys from Alabama . . .
