For the right person, Alabama officials are willing to offer the next Crimson Tide basketball coach a salary eclipsing $2 million.
A source familiar with the coaching search says the school is committed to making the candidate who replaces Mark Gottfried not only one of the highest paid coaches in the Southeastern Conference but in the country - if that is what it takes.
According to Ian Rapoport, we are apparently looking to shell out big bucks to the next basketball coach. Hard to argue with that strategy... it sure as hell paid off big-time when we tried that approach with the football program.

Good.
We need to get a Saban like hire and with a good hire Bama basketball will fill up Coleman- and in 10 years build a new place. If schools like Oklahoma, Texas, Ohio State and UF can contend for a NC in both sports so can Alabama. Plus nothing gets a student body engergized like an outstanding BBall team. It is great to be good at softball and gymanstics, but really they are yawn sports.
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.
hey now back off my girls in the gymnastics
i am heading to nashville for the SEC champs this weekend to support them, still holding out hope that i will get the call to be a booster for them ha! anyways, yes, it would be good to have a good bball team that did more than take up time between football season and A-Day

I've never seen the crowd at a gymnastics
meet get really crazy—maybe I’ve been to the wrong meet.
I do like that we have a good gymnastics team and they certaintly draw good crowds…but they don’t open Sports Center with a college gymnists getting a 9.95. And they don’t rush the court when the gymnastic teams pulls off a big upset.

has hinted that Saban has expressed displeasure with the basketball program (particularly, the atmosphere at Coleman) since he’s been at Alabama. He’s said basically that basketball is a great recruiting tool for football. I wonder how much of this is really based on the desire to have an elite basketball program.
Is it August yet?
Does it really matter?
If CNS needs to get involved for us to have a better bball program and it benefits the football program also, then more power to him. Its about time we had a good bball team again, because I’m tired of watching other schools have both, ie Fla, OK, TX and we settle for mediocricy. WE DESERVE THE BEST.

Hey, for $2MM a year
I’m available!
