I think we can be even better next year than we were this year. We've got a lot of good players returning and a lot of younger players who didn't play as much who're going to be a year better. They've been working hard this offseason, and you can tell they're ready to show what they can do this year. You saw it in the first practice of the spring.

Is it August yet?
When you are an Alabama fan you are expected to hate Auburn, I hate Tennessee because I want to.

The Process at work folks.
Bigger, Stronger, Faster
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.

well, not bigger...
cody says he’s down to 365 lbs from the 375 lbs he weighed at the end of last season. his goal for the start of next season is 350 lbs.

Weight =/= Size
That boy had a lot of blubber on him last year.

that’s what i meant. he says he’s both stronger and faster having lost the extra girth and replaced it with muscle. that also bodes well for his staying healthy through the whole season.

I just don’t think him losing his gut really makes him “smaller” in any way that really matters.
I certainly still wouldn’t talk bad about his momma to his face.

My
guess would be simple physics. Wouldn’t losing excess body fat allow him to move better and have a positive affect on stamina? I think so.

Can anyone say...
No #1 Defense this year?

Just
like ‘03 LSU. I’ll take it.

some are saying better than '92
but I’m not going there…
by brandonh on Mar 18, 2009 3:23 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
I'll go there if
we have one pass rusher who can get some meaningful sacks during the season and a second rusher who can at least get some hurries. If we can get pressure on the QB we can be as good or better than 92.
Wish we had a stud punter.

Don't
say that to Brother Oliver. Word on the streets is that he and Saban don’t exactly see eye-to-eye X’s and O’s wise.

Can you dunk it?
Any way you want. haha
Man he is great. I wish our whole team had that type of attitude.
Auburn fans are like slinkys... not really good for anything but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

Did you say altitude or attitude?
BOTH!

that was an awesome read

the one thing that really struck me
was the fact i had completely not realized he missed the spring practice last year. if he got in as good a form as he did last year on a limited off-season of development i’m all atwitter thinking about what we can expect this year.

My favorite part
The funniest ones are always after games, because you’ve got the fans there who’ve been doing a little drinking and they’ll say anything. They’re already acting crazy, and then when you autograph something for them, they go even crazier. I’ve had a few people come up to me and say, ‘I can take you on.’ I look at them and laugh.
I cannot even imagine saying that to a man that big! Also, I like how he tries to be nice about the drunken fans.

This quote should scare some offenses...
They can plan to see me on third down. They were taking me out on third down and passing plays last year. That’s one of the main reasons I worked so hard this offseason, getting in better shape, getting better at pass-rushing and sustaining it the whole game. Instead of playing on two downs, I want to play on three downs this year.
I bleed crimson and white...I puke Vol puke orange. RTR

I didn't even think about that...
Chemistry..Our defense was that good with guys that had limited time to learn the schemes…its scary to think whats going to happen next year when they ALL know what to do…and by scary i mean i get that funny feeling down in my pants that my pastor said was an abomination…

I truly believe......
we will have the #1 defense in the nation this year. I can just sense something special brewing at the Capstone. UUMMM, sacks and run stuffing by the dozen, that smell of rb’s getting pounded and qb’s looking to be sacked before the play even starts.
PRAY FOR ME bammer, I’m feeling abominated.

Agreed.
I hope to hell the ’Bama d will light people up, and that will give that O time to adhere, the one to the other, as it were. Last year your first 22 were quite good, the biggest concern I have for Alabama this year?
Can you replace a payer without missing too much, I mean any player out there. Depth is what separated y’all from Florida last year, and too from Utah.
Deeper at wideout especially would be sweet.
But, again, I expect that Defense to be great, not just good. We’ll know right out of the box since you guys play Virginia Tech, which typically plays to your strength of smash mouth football.
I am really, really looking forward to that openeer more than any other.

I seldom...
…worry about Alabama’s defense, that typically seems to come together. It’s almost always the offense I worry about.

"Almost" always? Really?
I was just sitting here after reading that, trying to think back on a year in the past 2 or 3 decades where I DIDN’T sweat some facet of our offense prior to the season starting! I mean, I have gone into the season feeling completely confident in our D (rightly or wrongly), but wouldn’t that be a marvelous feeling to go into a season and NOT be sweating our offense? QB? I don’t yell for any other teams, so tell me, does that REALLY happen or is that just a myth???
