Things I am Reasonably Certain Nick Saban Has (and Has NEVER) Said

Nicksabanminatory_medium

A brief list:

NEVER SAIDHAS SAID
Don't worry about those mental errors, son. So long as you're giving good effort, that's enough!WHAT THE $%$& ARE YOU DOING PLAYING A SHALLOW ZONE ON A *&^&^%$%#^%(*& POST?!? YOU *&^&*% KNOW THAT YOU PLAY PRESS ON THE *%$#*&^& X RECEIVER WHILE THE WILL COVERS THE &*%$#$@$ FLAT!
It's a shame that ODB had to leave us in his prime.Let's see if we can't get The Eagles to play homecoming this year.
"Bobby, do not even tell me where you are going, because if you are not going to Alabama I am turning you into the NCAA. You know you have a chance to start at Alabama at right tackle as a sophomore, and nobody would turn that down unless they did something illegal.""Bobby, if you're such a *&^*% that you're too afraid to compete against DJ Fluker, James Carpenter, and Tyler Love for the LT spot, then it's probably best you don't sign with me.

In the picture

check out who is standing next to CNS. That’s a shocker.

I was referring to

Prince Hall standing next to CNS. The location or jersey color is irrelavant.

That look on Saban's face

makes me think he must have just been talking to Prince.

That guy will regurgitate any fool thing he hears on a message board if he wishes it were true.

He’s the internet equivalent of that guy at work that “knows somebody”, except that, in this case, the only thing he knows is the password to a message board.

I wouldn't be surprised

…if Massie really did tell that story, just like I wouldn’t be surprised that the reason he told that story was because what Nick Saban really told him when he said he was going to Ole Miss was a lot closer to my blurb than his.

Oh, sure, I’m not saying Massie never said that, but Massie’s statement isn’t being parroted for the sake of the statement itself, Erik clearly believes that Saban actually said that, which is kinda funny all on its own.

Wow..

don’t you think you are being a little harsh on Todd.

Ok.....

I went back and read the whole thing, WHAT A PILE OF CRAP! That has to be one of the most STUPID “rumors” that I’ve read in recent memory. The pure jealousy to just go around making up this blather is just mind blowing. It’s no small wonder that these bottom feeders have no life, because though I am a Bama fan through and through, MAKING UP LIES to try and make your program look better is something I would never do or be associated with. This guys and his blog are truly losers.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.

Good post

I saw that blog last night and was frustrated that the blogger just copied and pasted something off a message board. It doesn’t shock me, but the story was also repeated by Sports By Brooks, which gave the likely fabrication greater currency.

The quote attributed to Saban doesn’t sound like Saban. Your theoretical Saban sounds more like the real thing.

Its

garbage. Even F-bomb won’t touch things like this that are so clearly fabricated (Gasden).

Could it be

that this kid got pissed maybe because Saban told him he wouldn’t play left tackle at Bama? Guess we’ll never know the truth.

Perhaps

he took one look at Fluker and realized that on his own.

This whole Massie thing is so out of hand it's ridiculous....

I live in MS, and I’m so sick and tired of hearing about it. Take this for what it’s worth, but I don’t post that often on here, so it’s not like I feel the need to make stuff up daily.

A close relative of a mine is a rather large Ole Miss booster. We were playing golf the weekend before signing day, and I mentioned that [as most of us believed] Massie was a Bama lock. He disagreed rather vehemently, and I needled him to the point of saying, “I know because I wrote a check.” Several other people later confirmed this back at the clubhouse.

My only point is that Massie was not, like deepsouth and a lot of others foolishly believe, a case of us trying to buy some star player away from Oxford and then getting pissy about it. Ole Miss offered him the starting LT position [which we couldn’t] and a bunch of cash on top of it, and he took it. Sure, Saban was probably pissed about it, especially considering the other side of the rumor that it was Massie’s request to match Ole Miss’s offer that provoked Saban’s ire.

Maybe Ole Miss can put up a banner in Vaught-Hemingway saying “2009 Bobby Massie Recruiting Champs.” It should nice next to their 2003 SEC West Co-Champions banner.

by DBTide on Mar 31, 2009 2:52 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Only

Ole Miss and Auburn would celebrate division co-championships. And only Auburn would brag out loud about it.

In all seriousness, not to be a jerk or anything but saying that Ole Miss gave Massie “a bunch of cash” is pretty serious and I don’t think I would say that if I didn’t have proof. Again, not to be a jerk, just sayin….

So, out of curiosity...

if this story isn’t a complete fabrication, why not call up the old NCAA compliance office? I’m sure they’d be very interested to hear that you have a first-hand admission of recruit bribery.

I’m guessing it’s bullshit, though.

by PeteHoliday on Mar 31, 2009 6:50 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I'm not here looking for validation...

First, like I mentioned, it was a family member. I’m not going to call the NCAA on family. Schools don’t exactly look kindly upon patrons who get them reported. They pull your season tickets and ban you from any and all school events. It happens quite often to Ole Miss boosters.

Second, no one has to believe me. I’ve regularly read the site since the guys started it and enjoy seeing what people have to say on here. I also understand that anyone can say anything on the internet with relative impunity, which makes any story [especially the good ones] hard to believe. I wasn’t posting to give someone material to go to the NCAA. I was simply refuting a ridiculous story masquerading as fact, when it was actually based on message board post with around four levels of hearsay.

On a related note, I was in law school when Gene Marsh started as Chair of the Infractions committee. The stories about what people report to the NCAA are nothing short of amazing.

by DBTide on Mar 31, 2009 9:06 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Again

I really don’t mean to be a jerk to fellow supporter but for someone who went to law school, you seem to make rather accusatory statements in a pretty casual fassion.

It happens quite often to Ole Miss boosters

It just doesn’t seem lawyer-like to throw around stuff like that with nothing material to back it up. In my dealings with attorneys, they are ultra-skeptics, almost to a fault. Some of them are so grizzled that I wonder if they even believe in the concept of absolute truth at all. Anyway, I’m sorry if I’m beating a dead horse, I was just a bit put off by it. Hope we can still be friends.

Is it August yet?

Schools don’t exactly look kindly upon patrons who get them reported.

Cry me a river. If your “close relative” doesn’t want to get disassociated, maybe he shouldn’t violate NCAA rules.

Bottom line, whether the story is true or not, nothing is gained from posting it here. Stuff like this just makes RBR look like another message board full of idiots posting about all of their “insider” information.

I would like to make a motion that you do not post links to that deepsouthsports blog anymore. that tool does not deserve the hits. he is grade A douchebag with a chip on his shoulder about bama. he’s not entertaining in the least.
