Bid to Coach in Mississippi State's Spring Game

Maybe they've done this in the past and I just never noticed, but I'm on the athletic department email list of tons of schools and I see all kinds of bizarre auctions pop up for the fans (USF had one where you bid to recover the tee after kickoff for instance.) Anyway, this one out of Starkville kind of cracked me up.

There is an auction going on Mississippi State's website right now to be the head coach of the White team during their Maroon/White Spring Game. Here's an excerpt from the full press release:

The winning bidder will become the head coach of the “White” team in the spring game, which will be televised live by CSS. As head coach, the lucky fan will participate in staff meetings as the teams are “drafted,” give the pregame speech and make the tough gameday decisions for their team.

As of the time of the writing of this post, the bidding sits at $650. Can you imagine how much money Alabama could raise if they did something like this? I'm not advocating it as a good idea of course, I'm just thinking of the mind-staggering sum some would spend for the opportunity.

If I were rich, I'd bid on this.
