The Snake Is Not Coming Back
Official word has not been released yet, but the Bama Sports Report says it looks like we won't be hearing Kenny Stabler back at his color position with Eli Gold on the Crimson Tide Sports Network. Since I went to all the games except the first 3 when I was in Australia, I didn't hear any of the broadcasts in 2008. I'm sure they were good, but I will miss Kenny's good ole boy humor and laughter and just his obvious love of the TIDE.
Phil Savage has said he is interested in the job, so we'll see how he does on the A-Day broadcast. I won't hear that one either because I will be one of the hopefully 92,138 at the game. Michigan held their spring game yesterday and had a school record 50,000 show up. Before the game, Andy Reid of the Michigan Daily, wrote:
"Rich Rodriguez is doing all he can to raise excitement around the game, adding an alumni flag football game, a locker room tour and other gimmicks to the festivities. He wants to see at least 40,000 fans show up. His eventual goal is to break Alabama’s attendance record, and if Rodriguez wants that, the on-the-field product in the spring must be enticing enough to keep fans coming every year."
Everyone wants to break our record. Man, I'd love for us to have a locker room tour, but I don't see that happening. Even though it's on TV, Coach Saban says it's important to be there in person to support the team, and I hope the game being televised doesn't keep too many people away. How many times do you get to see the TIDE play in person for FREE?
ROLL TIDE!!!

That's a shame...
Stabler is legendary. And don’t worry about attendance. IF SABAN WILLS IT, WE WILL COME.

One of these years
we need to have A Day at Talladega Speedway (143,000) and fill it up and just end this spring game competition. Obviously there would not be any great seats but I definitely think we could fill it up after winning a NC.
And, I’d say Michigan getting 50,000 for their sorry team is pretty good
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.

How could they break our record?
Their stadium won’t hold that much. Or will they?
If Chuck Norris and Nick Saban got in to a fight, we would all have to hide underground. For 7 months the earth would be uninhabitable, ash would rain from the sky, sonic booms could be heard in the distance, and skeletons of those who were unfortunate enough to meet the two would litter the landscape. Let us pray to almighty God that these two never cross each others path.

My mistake.
Too bad that large of a crowd won’t see quality ball for a while. Once again thanking God that Rodriguez turned down that job.

Last
year with the guest comentators it wasn’t as good as the Snake. I will miss him. Although Tyler Watts didn’t do bad at all and he has a good radio voice.

The Snake will be missed.
I will miss his humor and straight forward comments whether he agreed or diagreed with what was happening on the field or by the coaches. I hope he will drop by from time to time.
I thought Tyler did a good job with the PPV and believe that he would also do a good as the color commentator with Eli.

That's a shame about Kenny
I hope and pray for his full recovery. I’m sure he’s doing what’s asked of him, as far as probation/restitution and whatnot. I surely do hope he’s given a chance, if not this year, than next. He was as good in the broadcast booth as he was in the pocket.
He’s my all-time hero as a QB in the NFL. He still is. No one can match The Snake. His color commentating (is that a word? word!) was awesome. I heard him a few times, and what I did hear was someone who added not only insight into the game, the situation(s), but the players and their tendencies. He nailed it more often than not. Matter of fact, I rarely heard him flub anything.
He loves ball, and the public LOVES HIM. He’ll be missed.
Roll Tide!

LEGEND SHOULD FOLLOW A LEGEND
The “Snake” has deceided to take care of his off the field issues and at least step down for a while. I must say why are is their any discussion at all who should be in the box. Seems logical to have Barry Krauss move up from the sidelines. BK has been working with the “Snake” and Eli Gold for the past few years. He is a former player and now a legend and who can forget the Goal LIne Stand. I have listened to him before he has a great rapport with the fans, he is very accomadating as well. Two years ago at the FSU/Bama game the crowds were huge to see the Snake and Barry. Granted the Snake will no longer be their to help draw the fans, but are you kidding Phil Savage.
The same Phil Savage that cursed out a fan on email while he was GM of the Browns. Eli will have to have his hand on the delay button 24/7. This guys has got no playing experinece nor is he part of the Alabama football tradition. I would hardly say being a grad asst to Bill Curry is worthy. That was failed regime.
Mal Moore should of over-ruled Nick. This guys is Nicks buddy and Nick should of stuck with Alabama tradition and put another voice in the box that has lived the Alabama tradition and has the old ties, ie Paul Bear Bryant. Nick your a great judge of talent on the field, and you need to stick to on the field recruting. One and done Phil, I hope.
I know I will no longer listen.
Rolltide.

I don't care if they put Ozzy Osbourne
up there, if thats what Saban wants, thats what Saban gets

Sorry I have to disagree. Ozzy has a major speech impedement. We need to stick to tradition. Alabama football is legendary keep it that way.
