Foster Auditorium

Pretty good little read from Tidesports about how the University plans to restore the Foster auditorium back to usable space for athletics. Wonder if that still means they plan to update facilities for men's basketball or if this essentially takes the place of those promises to Coach Anthony Grant. Maybe we students can get our hands on the auditorium for a few things...

Foster Auditorium

The University is still going to build the new facilities for the men’s basketball team. Foster Aud is going to be used for women’s basketball and volleyball.

Wasnt it where Wallace tried to block

Vivian Malone from entering? A lot of history there. I think it is cool they are remodeling it and updating it. I hope they keep the old school feel of the gymnasium, it is a really neat area.

It is

where Wallace made his stand. I just recently graduated from the University and I worked with fellow students for four years to help the University find a use for the building. It was a shame to see it go unused. It is such a historical place in regards to the state and the University. Also it is in a great location. Parking will continue to be horrible for sporting events once it is complete but the history alone will make it great. I might venture to a few more women’s basketball games or gymnastic meets once they move out of Coleman.

On another note, how much longer do you think Mal Moore will hold out as AD? I personally would love to see someone such as Ozzie Newsome get the job when Coach Moore retires. He is nearly 20 years younger than Mal and he has proven he can manage an organization (i.e. Baltimore Ravens). What do you guys think?

I think you need to shut up and go back to work

When are you ever coming back to the homeland again by the way?

Pretty sure

gymnastics will stay in Coleman, as they have had better attendance than basketball the last few years.

I

think Dave Hart will replace Mal Moore.

Johnnie Cochran

spoke at Foster also. That was back in 1998 or 1999.

MATRIX: Bennett, I thought you were--

BENNETT: Dead? You thought wrong. Ever since you had me thrown out of the unit, I've been waiting to pay you back. Do you know what today is, Matrix? Payday.

There's also...

…this neat little gold-colored (brass?) rectangle on the court marking the longest shot made in an SEC or Bama home game. I don’t remember the whole story, but I’m assuming the University has something on it. When I went to school there, I took a class, heard Maya Angelou, and saw the Meat Puppets there.

Maybe its just the Business mind in me

But does anyone else see the potential money the University is wasting by not jumping on having this thing sponsored? I mean you’ve got Citi Field, Phillips Areana… And you don’t even have to change the name

Auditorium…
