Glen Coffee on the 700 Club
I'm sure the CBN isn't some of y'all's cup o' tea (honestly, since my grandparents have passed I didn't even know it was still on the air), but Coffee has been pretty outspoken about his acceptance of Christ over the last two seasons, and this clip on how he views football through the lens of his faith is at least an interesting look into the mind and character of a running back we've all cheered for on the football field, even if religion isn't your particular bag. Also, it's just plain nice posting stories about football players doing positive things since that sort of stuff never makes the kind of big headlines that other former Tide running backs have proven capable of.
h/t The Rap Sheet, who thinks his strong character could have jumped Coffee up from a fifth rounder this weekend to a possible second round pick.

i'm VERY happy for Glen...
…his being a hometown boy and all. Totally excited that someone I watched play all through high school was able to make a name for himself at my beloved University (loved DJ too but only after he got to alabama; he played high school ball for the cross-town rival who we hate like alabama hates auburn). An article came out last summer in my newspaper where Glen proclaimed that we were going to see something different from him in the coming season, and we did. He credits his faith for that and i commend him for the work he does in spreading the good news. what i DETEST, however, is an athelete/singer/actor/lay person that talks that talk in public but doesn’t walk that walk in private. Sadly, Glen hasn’t yet learned that character is doing the right thing when noone is looking.

I'm not sure...
…what you mean by, “Sadly, Glen hasn’t yet learned that character is doing the right thing when no one is looking.” Maybe he IS doing the right thing when no one is looking, and you just don’t know it, because you’re not looking.

i AM looking and not by choice.
i wouldn’t make a statement like that with no basis.

as i stated in my original post
i watched glen play ball through high school. i have also made mention in other threads that i have one daughter that recently graduated from The University and another that is an upper classman – a rising senior to be exact. i don’t feel the need to qualify my knowledge or opinion with specifics since i don’t remember reading that SBNation or RBR require a bibliography or footnotes when making statements. suffice it to say that nothing was written here that hasn’t been said to the young man himself.

Not doubting you or anything..
but you did bring it up…just thought you’d at least give us an idea of what you’re talking about.

Actually, recent regulations promulgated by the SBNation Congressional Congress of 2009 require citations for all allegations.1 Interestingly enough, it was one of your own that required this change after somebody named “kleph” alleged that over 25 different former and current Alabama cheerleaders pressured him to have sex with them.2 All at the same time.
It was such a ridiculously preposterous claim that at the next Big Important SBN Illuminati Meeting, citations became a requirement. It passed with unanimous vote.
So, pursuant to what is now called the “hahaha, sure, kleph, sure, hahah” Rule, we demand citations. Punishment is having to listen to kleph babble on about all the ladies he’s “had.”

don't throw scripture at me
just because this thread is about faith. There is PLENTY of judgement on the blog in just about every thread. Aren’t you judging me by assuming that i am judging? I have an opinion that is based on knowledge and fact and simply stated it.

I don't think anyone is judging you...
But that is a pretty strong statement you just made about this young man’s proclaimed faith.
“I have an opinion that is based on knowledge and fact and simply stated it”
Ok, but if you are going to give such a strong opinion or statement you should be prepared to give an account of it or not say it. Otherwise, let it be between the Lord and Glen.

if the Lord and Glen
were the only people involved, that would be an easy thing to do.
The first several lines of my post did nothing but pat him on the back. I am honestly happy for him and wish him a long career. My apparently controversial statement was about his character, not his faith. Since I am not trying to write a persuasive argument & only stating my position (better word?) can i not say what i want? If i don’t want to make a list of 1-10, does that mean I’m not allowed to post my thoughts? Really?
Some judge Andre for what they do not know. I have opinion of Glen for what i do know.

Please, don’t throw scripture at me, either. I’m very frail. And Leviticus 2:16 recently cut my hand, so I’m wary of trying to catch scripture.
