The RBR Friday Random Ten...
...is getting all fancy on you with an embeddable playlist, so you can all share in my iPod-y goodness. imeem FTW!
If you don't know how to play, put your iPod/Zune/Pandora/Whatever on shuffle and list the first ten songs that come up. No cheating to make yours look cooler. And since the Random Ten has been providing the Beefcake of late, I give you the shaggy, psychedelic sex of the Quicksilver Messenger Service.

Liz Phair checks in with one of the most depressing drinking songs ever. And if you don’t know Pat McCurdy, learn him. He is a Wisconsin treasure.
Point taken.
That said, Wisconsin has so many great small beers that never leave the state lines. It’s one of the things that I miss about living in the Midwest.

That’s funny, I spent about a month working in Oshkosh back in 2003 and we drank Leinekugal’s every night in the hotel bar. A month or so after I got back home to Memphis we were out at one of those 85-million-beers-on-tap places so I ordered a Lenny’s Red. I took one sip and realized that when you’re not in or from Wisconsin everything from that state tastes 100% like butter. This was reiterated to me last week when I was in Lincoln, NE and happened to eat at a Culver’s. I’d forgotten that they even call them butterburgers. SO appropriate…

Some old songs, some "in-the-way" songs. . .
. . .and if you’ve never heard of “Old and In The Way”- they’re one of the best blue/newgrass bands on the planet!
This random set was random personified! I was hoping “The Presets” would enter into this Friday’s Random 10, but NO!. (they’re a tight band from Australia. . .it would’ve been nice to have, especially in honor of our 2009 RBR Sweetheart, Rachael! (man, she’s fine)

Comer4tide to Nico2.0: "How come I've never heard of any of your random songs?"
Todd to Comer: "Because if you had, he wouldn't listen to it. BOOM. Roasted."
Nico to Todd: "Shouldn't you be off voguing somewhere?"
Brix, Where in the HELL do you and Nico find this music
"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit."
Uh, gee. . . .I . . .well you see. . .uh. . . .
Wait one cotton-pickin’ minute! At least my songs are in English. The “Los Chucos Suaves” song by Ry Cooder is part-Spanglish, but mostly English. Kinda? For the record, I dig Nico’s jams. I spend parts of my weekends going over and “Googling” some of the unusual ones, and for the most part- Nico has a very highly developed sense of song and melody in his little ol’ Tide-head of his. But. . . .I’ll admit, I can’t pronounce half his tunes, much less get close to what the songs truthfully emote. However, most of them are pure beauties to listen to.
You gotta have heard of Ry Cooder, no? Tom Waits? David Byrne? Siouxsie? Clifton Chenier? Sneakerpimps? (the others are totally a tad off, as it were. But HOT DAMN! Old & In The Way are straight up badasses!
