From the article:

"Also coming to agreement with teams were former Alabama tight ends Nick Walker (Minnesota) and Travis McCall (Buffalo), defensive end Bobby Greenwood (Kansas City), and guard Marlon Davis (Cleveland)."

It puzzled me...

John Parker Wilson has had a pretty productive college career and even back to his high school playing; In his last college season he led his team to an undefeated regular season in the SEC of all things yet the NFL showed him no love in the draft.

crazy which players get the hype, and which ones don’t. Sanchez only started 16 games for USC but as a junior, he’s ready to be a starting QB in the NFL. Right. He and Stafford only came out early because they knew next year’s QB class will be good and they wanted less competition. Since every draft just has to have at least 1 or 2 top QB’s in it, I guess he was the other chosen guy to get the hype. Whatevs.

Newsflash:

Wilson is not that great of a quarterback. The Falcoholic sums it up:

Undrafted Free Agent: John Parker Wilson, QB, Alabama: An interesting pickup by the Falcons. Wilson is not a huge guy, not a fast guy and not an incredibly accurate guy. He’s just a guy who happens to be a decent quarterback.

I don’t want to be unkind, but the absolute pinnacle I can envision for this guy would be as a backup quarterback, and that might be pushing it. He’ll certainly give you a hell of an effort and he’s a smart kid, but a guy with 30 interceptions in three years and a career completion percentage well under 60% isn’t striking fear into the heart of Chris Redman. He’s a worthy gamble for QB depth, but don’t get your hopes up too much higher than that.

That being said, I wish him nothing but the best. Good luck, JPW!

Hey

I say if he can hang on to an NFL roster spot for longer that 6 minutes, he’s accomplished something.
