Quinton Dial Will Not Qualify
According to published reports, Alabama 2008 defensive tackle signee Quinton Dial will likely not qualify, and he has signed with East Mississippi Community College. Dial was a four-star prospect with Rivals last year, and a three-star with Scout, who had a very impressive offer list after being pursued hard by Alabama and Florida.
It's not definite just yet that Dial will not qualify, but it certainly seems like that will happen, and Dial is preparing himself accordingly. Interestingly enough, East Mississippi Community College is also where former Alabama signees Brandon Lewis and Devonta Bolton are currently at.
Anyway, this one is a pretty big disappointment. Dial wasn't quite so high with the recruiting "experts," but he dominated the camp circuits, and he could have had his pick of the SEC schools. Unfortunately, things like this happen occasionally, and you usually have one wild card every year who was expected to qualify who ultimately won't. Last year it was Brandon Lewis, and this year it is apparently Dial. It's a disappointment, too, because we have been getting a lot of good news lately on the academic front, specifically with regard to Anthony Steen and Rod Woodson.
It will be interesting to see how Alabama handles this one. With Cody leaving after 2009, this leaves us a bit thin at nose guard going into 2010, with us really only having Josh Chapman and Kerry Murphy at the position. It's hard to say exactly what we will do going forward, but I would imagine this will result in us giving a firm offer to the 6'7 and 370 pound JUCO defensive tackle James Carmon.

That Sucks
Hopefully Dial can knock out the JuCo in one yr instead of two.
Auburn fans are like slinkys... not really good for anything but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
The reason you over sign
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.
Oversigning is evil...
and you should never, ever do it under any circumstances. Saban knew Dial wouldn’t qualify and he just signed him so Auburn and Tennessee wouldn’t have a chance when he comes out of JUCO. And because Saban wanted an excuse to kick someone off the team in case he made it. Or… well, something else equally sinister!
Oversigning is survival.
If you want to be 5-7 every year just don’t oversign and then you be (in your mind) morally superior to your rival who is kicking your tail. But at least you can dilude yourself into thinking you are morally superior.

You're doing it wrong...
Espyonage was being sarcastic, I think.

He looks like a white boy
which leads me to believe he can’t jump.
I'm gonna come at you like a spider monkey.
Even
If Dial doesn’t qualify I think we can survive w/ Josh Chapman and Kerry Murphy, Not to mention that Marcel Dareus could step in every now and then and give those guys a breather, And it just so happens that James Carmon is from the same JUCO that Cody is from, So maybe that gives us an edge, Could you imagine being thankful for getting rid of a beast like Cody if your the opposing team and then have to line up against someone who is bigger the next yr? Yeah that’s going to suck for those teams if we land that mountain of a man.
Thin at noseguard?
First time the word thin has ever been used in connection with Josh Chapman!!
Seriously, Chapman is really underrated!! Plus, Murphy has tons of potential, Square is bulking up, we should be fine at NG. we can always move Motley or McCollough back to the DL
Can
Phelon Jones move to NT???
