So sue me!
Picked-up some out-of-town Duncebuckets earlier Friday. They claim I was once AS DORKY as they once were (something about epic D&D games that lasted entire weekends back in the dizzay)- and so 3 of ‘em got together recently and had the random misfortune of universally realizing they all had chronic escapism fantasies. So, they decided to immediately horde peanut butter and underwear at the nearest local Wal-Mart (’cause, they thought, if they’re all gonna run away? that’s all they really needed) bought bogus airline ticket vouchers that ultimately got ‘em all to. . . . . .Topeka, Kansas (by way of Portland, Boise, Sacramento, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Kansas City, and (voi’la!) TOPEKA. Capital idea, when you really think about it?). They’re all now batting around the idea of becoming ventriloquist virtuosos or something or the other. . .?
So- I’m thinking?. . . .“Life on the lam, hmmm? (they’re all married with at least 2.1 kids split between them) Sounds like an affordable vacation?”
We’ve been seriously drankin, chattin’, and chewin’ since 5:30 pm Friday! They’re gassed and passed and I’m . . . . . . .trying to find my “Smart Shuffle” on my dagblarned whatchamacallit thingamabobby!
Aha! There it is! (frick, my loud garage door is either opening or closing right now. Lordy, lordy Mrs. Teager (neighborhood Mrs. Kravitz) is gonna cut my head off and puke cobwebbed cuss words down my esophagus tomorrow, sometime around noonish when her paratransit driver comes and gets her for her Slow-Mo Ta’i Chi class! (she’s cute though, she even wears a karate gi, and all! Seriously)
Here goes! (who starting my motorcycle NOW! thought these un-ironic morons were halfway to REM?) That’s IT Patrick Fitzgerald! Or Gerald Fitzpatrick? Whatever gayster’s on my Buell, I hope you never liked your kneecaps! They’re gonna belong to science real quick boy!
1. “Will The Wolf Survive?” – Los Lobos
2. "Walkin’ In L.A. – Missing Persons
3. “Woodstock” – CSN & Y
4. “Moonflower” – Santana
5. “You Got Lucky” – Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
6. "Magic Man – Heart
7. “White Lines” – “The” Grandmaster Flash
8. “Spill The Wine” – War
9. “Love Is The Drug” – Roxy Music
10. “Carry On Wayward Son” – Kansas
Who painted my Arzimon pink and yellow?

Ironically (or not)...
…your song list meshes nicely with the kneecap recap of your weekend thus far. Go figger.

It's funny you say that NLS
Right after I posted it and got Fralex off my bike, I came back to my comment and LMAO! because I “got” the fact that the Topeka, KS destination begat the weirdass co-inky-dink of having Kansas be the group to end my shuffle show. And lemme tell you buddy. I was boogie-ing to the righteous GOOD FOOT on that song. Remote control to mouth and all!
I thought I should pass out when, after patting the sweat off my brow after my deluded performance of grandeur- it dawned on me: wayward sons.
I give you the players:
Chuck Donlon (a current Virginia resident and high school buddy. Catholic, still. . .it gets weirder- married to a barely audible Filipina. Think, fixed-marriage/trophy bride. Uh huh.)
Darren Litzinger (this guy had sideburns in 7th grade, enviously rivaled only by Michael Naismith of the Monkeys. Captain of our Academic Decathlon team. We placed 4th in state my junior year. Has never learned to swim)
Fred Long (childhood traitor! went to boys private school instead of being a team player in public. came back to us his senior year, AND WE STUFFED THE BALLOTS AND MADE HIM OUR KING! In post-grad anthro, he changed his name to “Alex”. I’m the only one allowed to call him Fralex. It’s been a difficult transition for me, as I know him as Fred since 3rd grade. This guy can cook a mean paella. He learned it from my Nino (godfather). They’re both disciples of Noam Chomsky. read: un-ironic iconoclastic tendencies.
Chris Denison (a fellow frolicker of misdeeds) passed away 8 years ago to glioblastoma (brain cancer). He was the studliest of us all at D & D. Kisses to you Fish. You lived well and still prosper in us.
Had to.

. . . . ahem- Michael Ne, Ne, Nesmith. . . .
. . .pardon me.
Had a bit of a debauched-out weekend with homegrowns I haven’t seen (2 of ‘em, at least) in 8 years. Totally unplanned, yet . . . . .let’s just say “we haven’t missed a beat” since our “Orchard Fights” (boys playing army battles in a field of apricot trees) when we were 7 yrs old.
And we were Kings, Princes, Generals, and Indian Chiefs among the apricot-flowered breezes in our quiet little hillside world. Seriously, we used to run that TOWN! Owned it. Under OUR “Lick-A-Stick” covered thumbs.
Bottom line: I apologize for being a little “over the top” in my posts this weekend. I was the unlucky host for voracious appetites of comraderie, laughter, ambrosia, and wine. I spared no expense.
When I finally was able to list my Random 10, it was about 12 hours too late. Had I any self-restraint- I would’ve waited until next week to post a shuffle. But no! I was siezed with a longer-than-momentary lapse of reasoning. Forgive my “full-of-myself” posts and remarks my fellow RBR-commenters. I feel badly about what was written with my unsorted mind.
(fyi: My buddies got a gas out of reading some of my posts. D-Litz spent a good couple of hours reading some of my stuff- even the “Tapout” days. It was weird for all of them to read words that tell of stories and things they know VERY MUCH ABOUT. Chuck likened it to actually “reliving” long-forgotten summers. Fralex told me, “Banana Slugs are FAR MORE interesting than Crimson-tides and Elephants. Even on a BAD DAY!” (he’s an UC-Santa Cruz undergrad. Go Slugs!)
We had a blast. Sorry for “the Bix show” this weekend. I was feeling too “in touch” with my emotions and actions this past weekend. Remembering the life of a man who died much too young, as to be unfair- as judged by Duncebuckets + 1, easily lends to the possibility selfish thoughts and unintelligible rantings.

I'm afraid...
…that, until August, you’re the best show in town, Bix.

Whoa!
That’s just . . . . . that’s just. . . .really- the nicest thing to say. And I sincerely (to the centillionth power) appreciate you saying that NiceLittleSatuday.
I mean, I didn’t expect anything like that and . . . .I’m verklempt! (there’s another word in there somewhere, but I’m too ? see? what ’d I tell you?)
[insert a manly “knuckle-touch” here]
Thank
You!

That's so weird about the White Out?
Crazy! How much lucho (money) did Mrs. Grabby-fingers get again? You know, when HER HUSBAND died ???
And A FEMINIST, foo??? Well, that might make some sense to me now.
Did that guy not turn out to be he most goofiest ,“homely”-grown outta ALL OF THE MONKEY-HOMEGROWNS? ? ?
. . . . . . . . . . . .That’s riiiiiight! He also coulda just as well have been totally baked out of his MIND throughout his mid-teens; early. . . . . . .40’s? (just kidding – I don’t have the slightest ken on (btw: thanks for the Nai – to – Ne heads up!) Micheal Nesmith’s post Monkee career! (did that “sound” weird to you too?)

- here's the thing. . . .after re-thinking this a bit. . . .
. . . it “sounded” like? . . . . .the last sentence had to do with someone putting their head up Michael Nesmith’s post-Monk rear-end? That’s entirely way past the further from the truth!
I said “ca-reeeer”, Ca-,Ca-, CAREER! Not “rear-end”? (just clarifying)
