…magazine has never rated higher than third for me among the preview magazines, essentially for gaffes like this that reveal how little they research their topic(s). Lindy’s generally puts out a slightly superior rag, while Phil Steele blows these jerkwads out of the water (but y’all prolly already knew that, right?). I generally scan Athlon at the market, bring home Lindy’s (‘cause it comes out so much earlier than Steele’s), then wait for Phil Steele’s SEC magazine, which contains much more info pertinent to Bama’s upcoming season.
So there you go, FWIW.

Steele's predictions...
…are not the reason I like his magazine. It’s simply that he provides more detailed information and analysis for each SEC team (in his SEC mag) than any other publication out there. You can get much more on Bama from the creators of this site, but I love how Steele provides a two- to three-deep presentation on each team. He also does a good job with his position rankings. He makes mistakes, but there’s so much more info for those of us who want more than just pretty pictures and complimentary articles about each team. Check it out.

Well...
…we did have a fat, white Nick Walker in last year’s edition, but that was the fault of the yankee Bostonians needing another picture and not having time to get us to find it, not your humble editors. Thankfully we’re on schedule this year so fingers crossed there won’t be a tiny black Mike Johnson or something.

during one of the CBS games last year...
….they showed Rogers (with “ROGERS” clearly visible on the back of his jersey) on the sideline and Danielson said “and Jones is not on the field,” before they switched back to the field and he was like “oh, no, wait, there he is…” I hate announcers.

Don't count out Bama
in 2009. There’s something about this team…I can’t yet place it, but it’s strong and definitive. Kind of like the 2005 Houston Astros. We will make a run at it because we have the pitching (defense).

Well, hell...
None of US are counting out BAMA. Anybody that would count out a Nick Saban coached team is pretty stupid. Truthfully, I had a good feeling about last year’s team before the season started. I always thought we’d win more than most pundits predicted. I also think this year’s team has the potential to be “special” as well.

Last
year wasn’t a total shock to me. Nothing like a 5th year senior QB and veteran o-line to give you the warm and fuzzies. This year? I’m a little nervous I gotta tell ya. If we opened up with Ark State it would be one thing, but VT will be a big test. 17 starters returning+me=nervous Nelly.
