Newsome Says He'll Return to Bama

Ozzie_medium
If nothing else, the man understands office decoration.

Former Crimson Tide tight end and current Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome was back home in Muscle Shoals this week and added a little more fuel to fires of speculation that he'll return to the Capstone.

"I am coming back. I am coming back at some point. I have a lot of work to do in Baltimore, but I am coming back," he said during a speech at the 2009 Eagle Luncheon by the Greater Alabama Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Left conspicuously unsaid were when and in what capacity.

The statements don't add much light to the speculation over the past several years that the NFL and College Football Hall of Famer will one day assume the Bama AD job when Mal Moore steps down. But given the man's ties to the Bear Bryant era as well as his connection with one Nick Saban through the Cleveland Browns... it's nice to know the possibility is still alive and well.

Ozzie is the BEST...

…and a thank you to you kleph for finding interesting articles for this blog. Lately, it’s one of the main things that’s kept me reading. Also, thanks for subtly starting the countdown to the first football game, though it calls for the main page IMO.

You had me at "ROLL TIDE"!!!

Great pickup

Ozzie would really be a perfect fit for the AD job. He exudes Bama and would be a classy guy in that position. I feel like he also would have the vision to really promote sports other than football at the Capstone.
