Endzone  paint

Did anyone notice the new-look endzones at A Day?  They look more like the old ones from Legion Field with the letters on a slant, but one did say CRIMSON TIDE rather than both saying ALABAMA.  Not that it really matters, but why would we go and screw up the re-branding that we have worked so hard to establish.  The script A and the ALABAMA in all block letters are the official athletic logos.  I know we have discussed on the loss of the elephant on RBR before, but it just seems odd.

I don't know if we'll know

until September 12. I actually really liked the new (yet old) field design on A-Day. While Nike has helped establish the block letters as an official font, there is nothing wrong with blending the old and new. While we have the “angry elephant” created in 1999, they still sell (some) merchandise with the old elephant coming through the A. And while the majority of Nike stuff uses the block letters, I have several Nike t-shirts that I purchased last year that use a font very similar to the slanted letters of the old endzone.

Personally, I think us keeping some of our older fonts, logos, etc., sets us apart from all the other teams who pay Nike or whoever else to brand them with all “updated” stuff. After all, there is a reason we don’t have uniforms that look like this.

If I remember correctly

the field last year for A-Day was painted differently than they do it in the regular season. I think they use A-Day to try out different ideas. Come time for our 1st home game I think we’ll see the field looking like it always does.
