2010 Alabama Football Schedule (Tentative)

In December of last year, we posted what we knew of the 2010 football schedule. With the recent announcements of games against San Jose State and Georgia State, the list of opponents for the year should be complete unless there are last minute tweaks. I'm not even going to attempt to order the games, but here is the list of home and away games:

Home:
Penn State
San Jose State
Georgia State
Auburn
Florida
Ole Miss
Mississippi State

Away:
Duke
Arkansas
LSU
Tennessee
South Carolina

Even though Georgia State is a total cupcake, that's a pretty respectable schedule. In addition to the normal SEC slate (which will include Florida and South Carolina on the rotation), we get two BCS out of conference opponents, and a team that's at least off the beaten path for us (San Jose State.)

That's awesome!

Normally, the odd years are the best home schedules, but 2010 is going to be sick!

yeah

and thankfully what look to be the toughest games are also at home. here’s hoping dan mullen has little to no success between now and then because the last thing we need another tough game after LSU and before barn.

welcome to the SEC kiffykins...

That is one damn tough schedule...

… and it might be the toughest we’ve faced since 2002 or 2003.

The road schedule alone is brutal. LSU should continue to be extremely good, Tennessee cannot get much worse, and if nothing else South Carolina will fight you tough with a stout defense. Petrino should have Arkansas firing on just about all cylinders by that point, and even Duke, under Cutcliffe, ought to be fairly respectable by then.

The home schedule is really just as tough. We might have a leg-up on the Tebow-less Florida, but that’s still one hell of a team and one hell of a coach, and it will be a very tough win. Auburn should probably suck under Chizik, but very rare are the Iron Bowls that came easy, and Nutt will be tough with his Rebels and Snead being a senior. MSU cannot get any worse, and Penn State will be huge.

Anyone otherwise looking to piss and moan about weak scheduling has little room for complaint here. As I said, I do not have much doubt that this is the toughest schedule we have had in many years.

Slow down.

One of our out of conference BCS opponents is Duke. No offense to my wife (a Duke grad) but it’s Duke.

If it were up to me, I'd blitz on offense too.

I love Duke

You...

…left the ‘y’ off the end.

It still beefs up the strength of schedule more to...

…play the likes of Duke than it does FIU or some I-AA team.

Additionally, Cutcliffe won as many games in his first year (4-12) there as the team did in the previous four seasons:

04: 2-9
05: 1-10
06: 0-12
07: 1-11

Definitely not world beaters, but certainly on the rise.

The evidence...

…of Cutcliffe’s coaching ability lies in just how long Phat Phil was able to coast through at UT.

That should've read...

…4-8 for Cutcliffe’s record in year 1 at Duke.
