Recruits on Campus for Summer Session

As far as I know, the majority of the 2009 recruiting class arrived on campus today (Tuesday June 2) for summer sessions and to participate in the strength and conditioning program.  Some recruits may not arrive until August, but this should shed some light on who in the class qualified and will count towards the 25/85.  And shed some light on who will be going to Junior College, playing professional baseball instead, etc.  Any news?

Right now, everyone is on campus (or coming shortly), except...

(1) Quinton Dial: Headed to JUCO

(2) Michael Bowman: Taking a summer class trying to get qualified by July.

(3) Darrington Sentimore: See above

(4) Eddie Lacy: See above.

The other 23 guys are either on campus now, or should be in the next few days.

Eddie Lacy? E-gads, if this kid qualifies they should investigate his school, from what i heard throughout the year. Roll Tide.

It’s not too difficult to raise a GPA with summer classes.

And they’re probably 4 of our top recruits….we definitely need to give McElroy all the options we can so I really hope Bowman and Lacy make it.

Lacy...

From what I’ve read, Lacy is going to get the core GPA / ACT that he needs. He took some correspondence classes this Spring to make up for some of the classes he bombed as a freshman, and did well in those. The reports as of a couple of days ago was that he was taking a summer course at Geismar — some type of Algebra course — and that if he made a B or higher in that class he would be good to go.

The real problem Lacy is going to run into is with the Clearinghouse. It looks like he should get his core GPA / ACT that he needs, but the Clearinghouse may very well choose not to accept those correspondence classes. It’s hard to predict what they will do with things like that, and if they don’t take those, Lacy will be JUCO / prep school bound.

Sentimore...

Things actually sound really good with Sentimore. The Destrehan product is taking a summer course this month at John Curtis High School, and it is being reported that if Sentimore can just pass the class with a C, he will be good to go. And fortunately, unlike Lacy, Sentimore will probably have fewer issues with the Clearinghouse.

I hope he gets in

but the stories of kids having a meteoric turnaround and clearing the house as you mention are few and far between. If you want a true miracle, google Marcus Ball.

well their groupies....

will have to have a replica jersey to wear, so I would say right after the numbers/jerseys are given out.

What

Kind of groupies we talking about here?

They will be working too hard...

…to even know anyone on the campus even exists outside the dorm…and the football buildings.
