Your RBR Friday (not so) Random Ten...
...is all geeked up over the impending arrival of Sonic Youth in the Magic City. Nico2.0 and I will be there, possibly with bells on. What's your excuse?
I can't believe this is the first time I'll get to see them live...
Anywho, today's list isn't so random since I only shuffled Sonic Youth songs and naturally managed to get two completely random nuggets among them, their oh so memorable joint (no pun intended) effort with Cypress Hill from the Judgement Night soundtrack to their deadpan rendition of the Carpenters classic "Superstar." iPod, you do cut to the core of me.

i love that song. it’s for me, what Hall and Oats was to Patrick Bateman. this is what i’d listen to while getting psyched up for job interview or something.

Great song
Great band. They’re still going strong. They’ve been around since the early days. I saw them with Minor Threat, with Darby Crash & Pat Smear from The Germs (went by a weird name- still got the shirt “The Sophistifucks”), and DK’s at an Elks Lodge in Campbell, CA when I was a skateboardiong 10 year old. The DK’s tore the place down. . . .literally. That same weekend I went to a “Day on The Green” at Oakland Coliseum that The Police, Oingo Boingo, The Fixx, Madness, and The Thompson Twins. (only heard of The Police, at the time. I was a total “cholo-punk-skater” that played LOTS OF SPORTS back in those days)

One of my all time favorite songs!!!!!
“Play ethnicky jazz
To parade your snazz
On your five grand stereo
Braggin that you know
How the “brothas” (ahem) feel cold
And the slums got so much soul
Its time to taste what you most fear
Right guard will not help you here
Brace yourself, my dear
Its a holiday in cambodia
Its tough, kid, but its life
Its a holiday in cambodia
Dont forget to pack a wife"
Insanity! I’ve been in many a pits and had my jaw broken once when Jello played that in his solo concert at San Jose State Event Center. Kicked by a nazi-punk with steel toes. Hate those idiot nazi-punks and modern-day idiot “moshers”. They don’t know what PITS ARE ALL ABOUT! Got that sumbitch later though, with my mouthbleeding and everything. Was a big huge dude. When I put him down. . . . .the impact of him hitting the ground cold sounded like water being poured from a 5 story building hitting the ground. CRASH/SPLAT/LIQUEFIED!
