I'm hearing that Julio Jones and Mark Ingram could be suspended for the first game against Virginia Tech due to an Auburn alumni paying for a fishing trip.??????? Is it true .....

… and like I said this is actually an old rumor.

Now, I do think the actual story behind the rumor was in fact true. There was even a picture floating around that showed those two on a boat with their girlfriends, and apparently one of their girlfriend’s dad had paid for the trip (who, coincidentally, was an Auburn booster). Of course, though, the Barners had spun it like they had been given a cruise ship for a month, but it was apparently nothing more than your typical day boat trip down on the Gulf. From all that I’ve been able to figure out, UA Compliance found out about it and Julio and Ingram repaid the cost of the trip just to be on the safe side, and that turned it all into a non-issue, nothing more.

Just keep in mind the source of all of these rumors, it’s goddamn ridiculous really. And if anything, this was one of the “better” ones because it seems like a couple of the facts in the story may have been true.

At any rate, just so you know, the latest rumor making the rounds on the Barner boards is that Trent Richardson got into it with some coaches and players and was sent home, but we’ve apparently let him back. So, yeah, have your Bullshit Detector calibrated when some idiot calls into talk radio with that one soon.
