Medication Question - looking for feedback/experience [full disclosure not needed]

So I went for a checkup, and other than losing a few, the doctor was really happy with my health...back when I was close to 350 I was borderline diabetic, high cholestorel, etc. Since losing quite a bit of weight (over 100 lbs then a few back on since the marriage - thanks hun!), and other than my alcohol intake during football, I have been fairly health conscience.

Well, going back to school recently, I have found myself all over the place with work, school, and the new house (note - I am basically holding down a director's position as far as workload but getting paid GM's salary...waiting for funding to come in, but I chalk it up to job security). I have been a little stressed, which for anyone that knows me, I am a pretty laid back dude. So the doctor asks me how things are going, and I am honest. Tell him everything is fine, although I am having a really difficult time concentrating and reading lately - can't focus, mind is all over the place worrying about this and that - and he gives me a prescription. It is the ADHD medication Vyvanse. Now, I am against ADD diagnoses, even though two of my brothers have been offiicially diagnosed with the disorder, but as many of us know it CAN be used as a copout, and for that reason Dad won't put one of them on any medicine.

I at first tell the Doctor no, because I don't want to get into anything addictive or use this as a crutch. He doesn't diagnose me with ADHD, and says I probably don't have it at all, but that this will help and, as young adults, we sometimes have these focus issues. I tell him I will give it a try.

Wow. All I can say is, it feels like I am high, but very focused and very alert. I have no appetite - which, is also good as I get my weight down a bit - and feel great. I have six pages left of a procrastinated 9 pager due tomorrow and I am all over it. I hate to say I like this, because I don't want to get into a drug habit or anything (although he says this is less addictive than Adurol, so we will see).

Anyone else have any experience with this? Would like some feedback from anyone in the medical field or anyone who has maybe taken this substance before.
