I'm putting this out there right now-
Your initial offering Low, Grinderman, TV on the Radio (i just caught that tip, only a few weeks back. . .on SNL no less!!! FuThWaaaaat?), Gorgol B, and you know I’m nuts-goin-crazy for a li’l Phil, Yerry (en Espanglish), Bob & NoDeodorantBlues!!!!- It was you who got everyBODY rockin’ it. From the get-go!
These Friday Nico2.0 Specials are just that. Bananas!
And Spocky-poo. . . . .? Common! MosDef, Black Star (no way), Wu-to-the-Tee, and Pete Rock & CL (brah, where’s the Nas? what? ain’t down with P.E. either? sheeee! i’m clownin’. . . )- and hey, if you would’a fixed your mix with Method Man or Tribe?. . . . .I surely would have moonwalked right through my sliding glass door! I fucked up my ficus because of you, knocked that planter sideways busting a “worm” gone awry!!!!(that’s ah-rye!)
There’s a ton a serious sounds on todays comments and playlists!
I have thoroughly been bumpin’ and popping, locking it ALL UP! Check this out, 94Grad’s “Country Boy Rock & Roll” by Hot Rize had me and some on today’s staff dancing and singing with our “f_ck-faces” today. . . . .that’s how “into it” it got for some of us. 3 TIMES!!!!!
Neek, you ever heard of Ce`u (hot chick from Brazil?) I’m checking her show out tonight. That’s at 9 pm tonight, but before that- my girl’s picking me up and we’re listen to a free show at LACMA (Los Angeles County of Modern Art) and it’s: Luther Hughes and the Cannonball/Coltrane Project. You heard that right. Free. And avante-garde! SMOKIN’ HOT FRIDAY!
Heard you and to-the-T, to-the-O, to-the-DoubleD had a blast at the Sonic Youth show? Hope you were bent, pimpin’, and mischevious that night. How were the pits? (I know I’m a skank, ‘cause I’ll even pay for the room to get with Kim. . . .I don’t care how old she is! ‘Sides, what’s her man got to do with ME?) Nah, that’s not true. Wait? Maybe? Maybe so.

Ceu...
…is the super hotness. Been listening to her since her first record dropped a few years back and haven’t had a chance to pick up the new one yet. Unfortunately her American “tour” (if you can call it that consists of a whopping five shows in four cities. Needless to say, the ‘Ham ain’t one of them. I think NYC is the closest she’s performing to here. She played in DC fairly recently and I had to go up that way, but couldn’t make the two coincide no matter how hard I tried….so yeah,, all of that is going to say I’m JEALOUS that you’re getting to check her performance out tonight.
Sonic Youth was a good time. Crowd was fairly subdued though and there was no pit action seeing as the venue has a fairly steep uphill slant and is concrete floored (they played an old steel mill…seriously.)
Slant, schmant?
Houston? Why is that a problem? (First rule about “the pit”. . . .can’t be done “on a slant”! No. Never, uh-uh. Got it?" ;- ) . . .Reminds me of the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mtn. View, CA (home of NASA-Moffett Field Airbase – my mom’s employer, and big-guns like Sun Micro, McAfee, Cisco Systems, blah, blah, blah)- the general admission seating isn’t seating AT ALL! It’s this ginormous field of thrashed weeds and almost-attractive potholes. It covers the expanse up above the preferred-seating area which slopes upward at @ 15% grade and ends at a decorative wall/faux retaining structure butted up against a massive and undeveloped hill crest. (on a good earth shaker. . . .that cheapass shit will fly right smack down to VIP section, adjacent to the mainstage! No joke. Many Dead shows there, some of (on my experience) the very best- rivaling Las Vegas, Sacramento Stock Yards, Oakland (indoor) Arena, Crissy Field/SF. THE BEST PARKING LOT for Dead shows, indeed.
Saw Babes In Toyland, Candlebox (ouch!), Alice In Chains, Primus, Metallica show there. The most EPIC pic I’ve ever CONQUERED! This one stands alone. It was during the Primus set and had about 400-500 rude boys and girls and it was moving like a majestic deep-ocean swell. It took some serious “regulating” though. From Candlebox, through AIC- the fellas put the true stamp of authority on this pit. Put some cats on notice, and if need be- booted them from it. By the time Primus came on, it was all slow-motion for me. And this was done. . . . on that “slant”. The slant made it special, I hate to say this- but my badassness on that pit (with this one other huge like-minded knucklehead) allowed me and this dude to GO AGAINST IT. That whole entire gauntlet of mad-freak-loving punks. There were old-school punks, freestylers, metal-moshers, poseurs, biker-dude, chicks everywhere getting launched, ravers, clubbers, you name it! It was grand. After going against it 5 or 6 times this dude and I basically were siphoned to the center . . . .AND WE JUST STOOD THERE as the pit revolved around us. In the smoke-filled moon-lit night, we stood there sweating like pigs, but feeling like Kings! There before us were about 10 complete strangers in a circle around us two- keeping the pit from engulfing us. It. Was. Sublime.
