so i done did it. i entered myself in a hot wing eating contest . if i win the prelim round i'm in tonight, then i go to the finals which is the day of the North Texas game. (thankfully we now know the kickoff time, and the contest is like 5 hours after kickoff, so i'm clear) i have been chewing 4 pieces of gum at a time while at work for the last week. (stopped 2 days ago, jaw was sore, isn't any longer. i may have actually built muscle, awesome idn't it)
and now that the big day is here i'm not sure if there's anything else i can do to prep. (i get drunk and binge eat as it is, so that was a plus) i tried to eat the Big Texan about 4 years ago, got all the sides down and like 54 ounces of the meat, but i crashed at the 45 minute mark and couldn't really keep eating at that point.
this challenge is a little different, they weigh the wings before they bring em out, and then weigh whats left over, and we have 11 total minutes to eat. no puking. winner has the most meat eaten by weight, so dont have to fret over "is this wing all the way eaten?" which can cost a lot of time i'm sure... anyway i haven't eaten since last night around 5. and am about to crack a beer and probably a left handed smoke or two as well (i figure this should help create a monster appetite, no rules about mary jane being a banned "performance enhancer", so i'm doin it). i'd love it if any of ya'll can give me advice on how to tackle this challenge or just support in general. (FWIW, i'm wearin my grey shirt w/ ALABAMA in block letters across it. i can switch it up to the # 12 football jersey if need be. it brought a lot of luck and wins last year)

we'll have to see.
i know i was on a road trip when i tried the big texan. i blew it up when we got to the hotel in OKC. i think, i got pretty drunk and had a very crazy time that night actually. i also used to drink a gallon of water before piss test in high school. i would pee clear the rest of the day and get a “diluted” result, thus buying one more week to sweat out the pot cells.
yeah, i imagine if i eat 4 pounds of wings it’s going to be a nasty sight indeed. but, it should be worth it if i win a harley davidson (which i can then sell for money) or even a spot to compete in the Krystal Square Off…

okay i am off.
i’m pretty confident that we’ll achieve victory tonight, we’ve put in a lot work in the off season, a lot dedication and preparation, we’re hungry to show the world what we’re made of, as long as we focus and execute our gameplan, dont let external factors interfere with what we have to do to be successful, then we should be happy with our result. no watching the scoreboard tonight, just focus, execution, and making a nightmare for our opponents.

i sucked
i finished 13th out of 21. ate 1 lb 9 ozs of meat, winner ate 3 lbs 1 oz. though to be fair, only like 4 people total even cracked the 2 lb mark. all in all i’d estimate i had at least 50-60 wings and i didn’t puke. a guy two spots to my left did, and when i heard it hit the bucket (it produced the most disgusting sounds i’d ever heard) i almost lost it too.
overall i’m happy with my performance in the way that i went about it, i pretty much was chewing or swallowing meat the entire time, always had the next wing ready to go, took about 6 or 7 water breaks which helped speed it up i think. i think maybe i’m just not cut out for this sorta thing, at least on an elite level. FWIW there was a chick in mid 20’s probably weighed about 105 lbs, she took 3rd with over 2.5 lbs. the top 2 dudes were both in shape to slightly overweight. this competitive eating ish is no joke. pics to follow (gotta get them hosted, always a pain in the ass)

It’s all good though. You got to eat the shit outta something! That counts for bonus points AND regular points. Well, there’s also the benefit of “socializing” with people out in the general public in a normal and like-mannered way. (I got to be able or to learn to do that again, sometime soon. I hope.)
