**UPDATED** UT fans are more delusional than i thought...
Did you guys think I started the thread over at RTT?? If so..I didn't..some UT douche boy did...just clarifying..
The other day i stirred up the pot a little over at Rocky Top Talk. The funny thing is...I didn't even mean to. I made what i thought was some very non confrontational statements and even went as far as to defend Kiffen. Some douche UT fan over there said that Kiffin is already a bust and blah blah blah. Im sure he was a troll and since he didn't come back to argue his point, its no doubt he is. It got a little crazy after a blogger made this comment...
Basically.....
Am I the only one in the world that thinks that Lane Kiffin might be the next big bust in college football head coaches.yes
Tennessee WILL beat Georgia on the way to 9+ wins in '09!!!

I replied back with a simple No..why? Not to dig at Kiffin. Cause he's not the only one in the world who feels this way. I wasn't saying that Kiffin is a bust but only that there are a lot of people outside of Tennessee who feel he is a buffoon who is in WAY over his head...Anywho,after a few intelligent back and forths with Hooper, this comment opened the floodgates....
and i think thatis where most people see Kiffin….He failed at Oakland..what makes us think he won’t at UT? Im not saying that is correct logic, but that is what outsiders are thinking. Its kinda like Chizik at Auburn. The dude goes 5-100 at ISU and people think he’ll be successful at Auburn? What on earth would give you that idea?

You would have thought I compared Kiffin to Hitler. I mean these guys really took it personally. I thought the comparison was just. I really took a shot more at Chizik than Kiffin but oh my lord did they take offense..So much so that two readers created fanshots to discredit or disprove my claim....
Dedicated to Bammer... Kiffin & Chizik in the same sentence
Failure In The NFL But Success In College? It IS Possible...
I ended by saying this
Noyou see a guy with the name bammer and you take everything that i said personally…Don’t worry..its happens on every blog..If a guy named UTistheBomb posted negative stuff about Saban over at RBR im sure he would get blasted…
All im saying is that im not bashing Kiffin here. If you want to think that Kiffin has more potential that Chizik then go ahead. Both were successful coordinators at Major universities and both failed at their 1st HC job. Both can make many excuses on why they weren’t or couldn’t be successful. Both are replacing well liked coaches…both are taking over teams that need a major over haul…but go ahead…if you want to wear those homer glasses then by all means do it. BUT the fact is….The UT situation is very much like the one at Auburn….
and btw…
You said he failed at the Raiders. Said he was just like Chizk. Said recruiting doesn’t make you a head coach. Also said we should wait & see.He did fail at the Raiders…
He is in fact a lot like Chizik…thats not a dig but truth..
Being a good recruiter doesn’t mean you will win (again just ask Coach O) it means you have a better shot BUT….
And yes…we should wait and see if he will be a bust….
I didn't say EXACTLY the same but they are very similar...What annoyed me was they weren't reading or understanding what i was saying....They just saw my name and got all butt hurt..Anyways..i thought it was funny how easy it was to get them pissed..Again, it was not my intention but some people just have their panties on a little too tight..But it really goes to show how delusional UT fans are..
FanPosts are just that; posts created by the fans. They are in no way indicative of the opinions of SBN and the authors of Roll Bama Roll.

I will say this
The only thing that separates UT from the Barn is their most recent recruiting class…and thats about it.

and they get their asses POUNDED
by their other big rival, Florida, on a routine basis… kiffin has a huge uphill climb ahead of him. his best hope at being UT’s coach in 3 years lies with Urb leaving for noter damn or the NFL.

Hello, Bammer
A few points over here in your space:
1) We are not “delusional” or “taking it personally” or “unable to understand your arguments” just because we don’t agree with your ideas and conclusions. We read what you have to say but still disagree with you on several points;
2) We do, however, agree on a few points as there are some similarities, as you saw in my Post. But once you dig a little deeper, there are also some significant differences, which you continue to ignore.
3) You may not like Kiffin’s style (UT folks are divided on it as well) but it got recruiting results. The jury is out on how well he’ll do at UT. A good start would be 8-4 with more competitive games against Bama, Georgia, Florida and Ole Miss while winning the rest. Most Vols project 7-9 wins as we start to turn the ship around. Back to the top of the SEC East by 2010 or 2011 would be great. (By the way, we may not like Saban’s style either, but he’s a heck of a college coach and a great recruiter as well.)
4) Based on your comments here, I find it disingenuous when you claim that you weren’t visiting to bash Kiffin or tweak Tennessee fans.
5) Florida is the home of the Teebow panties, not Tennessee. Our knickers are not in a twist over what you have to say. It’s a slow summer. You gave us something to talk about. We appreciate the visit and you are welcome back at any time.
For the rest of you on this Board, Bammer left quite a few things out in his portrayal of how things happened. Follow his links for a balanced view of the discussion – including BOTH sides of the point-counterpoint. We welcome y’all over on www.rockytoptalk.com.
I don’t run the UT site or anything, but as a frequent reader, we are glad to have you visit and stay a while. Feel free to join and comment.

this whole thing started when you thought i compared Kiffin as a coach to Chizik. All i really did was compare the situations…but anyways…and yes…i feel you guys took what i said out of context..hence the “panties in a wad” comment.

Honestly...
…why do y’all go to RTT and TET and wherever to stir up trouble? We get pissed if their regulars do it to us, so extend them the same courtesy that we ask, namely that this is an Alabama blog and it should be a place for Alabama fans to come and discuss the Crimson Tide and whatever else among their fellow fans, not a place for any yahoo with a computer to stir up their rivals. TET is for Auburn fans, leave it to them. RTT is for Tennessee fans, leave it to them.

Sorry Lyle
I have to agree with Todd on this one. I post on TET every now and then but never against Jay – cause I Can’t say anything nice – and the last nine months or so, only civil stuff. I am way past the whole jumping their shit, but quite frankly I enjoying reading some of their authors.
What you said, while your intention was probably good, was perceived as a flame, and I cannot condone that nor support you. Think about if they were posting on our blog, or how they posted when Shula was here (yes, there were a few flamers that pissed us off).
You are better than that, dude.

Look...
…I don’t care how “respectfully” you disagree with a Tennessee fan on a Tennessee blog, the fact that you are an Alabama fan disagreeing will never be taken the right way, especially when you come back to an Alabama site, link to it, and proceed to talk about how they are delusional. Its not fun for us to try and have a discussion about the issues facing Alabama and have a rival fan poke his nose in it. They don’t need to be poking their noses in our business because they have enough to worry about with their own teams, and we need to stay out of their business as well.

i guess my take would be: there’s nothing wrong with going to a rival (or any team you’re interested in) teams site and PARTICIPATING in the discussion. no one likes a like troll or flamer. however, even if you behave the proper way and (i’d say that gumptown and WEA are good examples of this) it’s human nature for other fans to read into your comments and feel like they’re being flamed. the only resolution to this is to stay engaged in the debate, and not to start in w/ the ad hominem attacks and linking to your “home” blog etc….
all in all, looked like a normal, healthy discussion, bammer wasn’t be a jackass at all, until he got bogged down with having to defend himself from somewhat baseless attacks that accused him of “trying to flame”….

thats what i thought. When comparing what i said to ole greyghos down there or to the original creator of the “bust” thread at RTT…my comments were more than civil and my points just..

Thats very true
and i even made that point to Memphispete. It didn’t matter how nice i said what i said, he only saw my name and thought i was there to flame..
The reason i came here to post what happen was because of how silly their argument was. Say for a few minor details, like where they coached last, the situation at UT is almost identical to AU…and they think that they are MUCH better off than AU…my point is and has been that only time will tell but you can’t ignore the similarities…thats why i posted this thread…if i thought id be called a troll by UT fans and my fellow brethren here…i wouldn’t have done it……and that thread over at RTT started out very civil until they misconstrued what i was saying…Hooper finally got it but Memphispete is hell bound in thinking im a troll…

All those other
SEC teams and their fans are just jealous. it doesn’t matter how many National Championships they win, it still won’t mean as much as all the one’s Bama got back in the 60’s and 70’s when they were good. Lets be realistic. No other team can really compete with the Tide. The loss to Florida last year was a fluke. And the sugar bowl loss to whoever that was simply doesn’t matter. This should not even be an argument on anybody’s website. Alabama should be recognized by all as the top program in the nation.

I have to agree
there has been this complete 180 on Chizik in the last couple months from being the worst hire ever to the savior of AU football and I can’t figure out how that can be.
He may have done better recruiting than expected, but if you look at the assistants he brought in and the half-ass job Tubs did his last two years the expectations really were’t that high. The man has yet to coach a game, how can people make these assumptions?

Something I learned
is that the blogs are not an excuse for a flame war even though many posters/trolls think so. It is a new form of communication, and people hide behind random screennames in order to act however they so choose without a sense of morality supporting their actions. I have been guilty of this in the past. However, if you look at it as a forum for intelligent, educated debate, then it has served it’s true purpose.
The blogs are far more enjoyable when you have Aubies such as Gump and WEA posting opinions and views (along with LSUJonno, Kyle, and others) that follow a civil debate. The same reason I changed my posting habits a good while ago, rather than responding to everything posted at TET and allow myself to be bated by the bad fans (and we all have them), I choose to read and post as fairly and maturely as possible.
I havent been perfect, and I have acted like an ass at times in the past, but I tell you what – I have had the great fortune of meeting a few of the RBR regulars (who have all become very good friends with) and when you put a screenname against someone you are having a beer (or 40) with, this shit becomes real. So much so, you start putting your reputation at risk by behaving badly on the boards.
Bammer, I understand where you are coming from – I really do. You enjoy the debate…I feel ya. But in all honesty, how did you expect them to act? We would have done the same, dude, and you know it. I enjoy your passion, but sometimes you just gott a let it go. It ain’t that deep, really. And this is from someone who has looked like a jackass on more than one occasion.

My two pennies.
Bammer, you’re a great dude and all. I think the Falcoholic would benefit from your contributions as RBR has.
However, regardless of your intentions, college rivalries are so bitter, so ingrained, and so organic that it is not a matter of having an informed yet disagreeing opinion; it is a matter of having a disagreeing opinion in the first place.
As Todd stated,
[Regardless of] how "respectfully" you disagree with a Tennessee fan on a Tennessee blog, the fact that you are an Alabama fan disagreeing will never be taken the right way
I love the Tide and would defend my support to the death, but I’m not going to willingly walk into a bar in Knoxville or Auburn and say “You know, your head coach might not be as good as you expect and here’s why.” I’d have bottles thrown at my head.
I’ll equate it to the Falcons/Saints rivalry. As people, Saints fans are great. I have a decent relationship with plenty of Black and Gold supporters. I’ve even helped the Canal Street Chronicles (SBN Saints Blog) work on user statistics and mapping. I do not, however, talk with them about football. It’s impossible. “Impasse” would be the best way to describe it. I don’t tread on them, they don’t tread on me, and we get along.
I do respect your courage and mettle. I just think it’s best if these well informed and, let’s just say it now, correct opinions are left here at RBR. If the RTT and TET guys want to insult us here on the blog, let them. All the more shame to be loaded on their shoulders.
You have opinions. Share them.

His message was submit to government (whoever is in power) unless laws violate Christianity, and change the world through teaching God’s message and through example. He was not a political revolutionary like many try to make Him out to be. By and large He kept His distance from politics, save to encourage His followers to obey the law.

I've known him since he was young
Most of family is from Pennsylvania and as a result they have houses at “The Shore” in Wildwood, N.J.
I met him and his older brother mike when I was about 11 or 12 (I think I’m 2 yrs older than him) through my cousin. Matt was always picked on until about my freshmen year of HS. I went to Jersey and he was about a foot and a half taller than everyone else.
He still had to work his ass off to get where he is now. I seen ’im (used to have to leave the beach early everyday to throw balls whether he wanted to or not.)

He's
good but the Falcons had an awesome running game with Michael Turner and Roddy White came out of nowhere to have a great year.

Roddy had a completely similar year in 07, when we went 4-12
But with an 11-5 season and a playoff trip, he actually got some recognition.

punishment? Jail or being suspended indefinitely by the NFL?

i get the suspension but jail + suspension is a little much. Not that what he did isn’t terrible but they def made a point out of him..

think the scale of it is what made the punishment so much worse. It wasn’t like he just bet on a few dog fights.

he murdered/tortured many many many dogs for his amusement and to make money. How the hell do you NOT go to jail for that! He got off light, actually, only serving 18 months.

back to the original discussion
bammer, i have to agree w/ you. kiffin (ut) and chizik (au) are in the same boat. not the same make/ model, but both in boats in water. maybe not bot in freshwater, but…. i digress. the situations are identical, but very similar. now, i’m away from my original point, too….
i will say this, i think tony franklin shaved, showered, put on some glasses and now goes by the alias “guz malzahn”.

Malzahn
will have more of a run game than Franklin had (or so I read).
I also think that there will be less backstage crap going on as there was with Franklin. No one really got behind TF’s offense and we didn’t have the size or experience to go into it head on.
I am hoping that Malzahn will be able to find some middle ground between the pass and the run and for God’s sake play Fannin. I think up tempo is good, but i better not see any of that simon-says head up head down whack-a-mole crap from our o-line.

Honestly
I don’t get Auburn…for more reasons this but..
Why go away from the one thing you guys are known best for…RUNNING the ball..I seriously thought that Tubbs would revert back to the "good ole days’’ after firing Franklin but no…
Now Chizik comes in and pretty much implements the same thing Franklin had but with Malzahn…the inner workings of AU right now seem to be kind like this…

Seriously. Go read what you posted.
Am I the only one in the world that thinks that Lane Kiffin might be the next big bust in college football head coaches.
You just called another team’s guy “the next big bust” in college football. You can’t even pretend like you didn’t know what that was going to do. Coming back here and playing the victim card is really, really weak.
Even if you were right, this is a really tacky way to do it.
You don’t go to your friends’ house and say “Man, your wife sure is packing on the pounds these days, isn’t she?”, do you?
Same thing.

Apologies
I figured that since you linked “stirred the pot” to that post rather than some comment, that you wrote it. My fault.
Still, I stand by the rest of it. Except for the last part, which I will amend to this:
You don’t go to your friends’ house and, when he says to his wife “Damn, honey, you sure are packing on the pounds these days!”, say “Yeah, he’s right… you’re a real porker.”

so
the fact that i never said he was bust…which i didn’t…and the fact that all i did was claim that Kiffin’s or UT’s situation is a lot like Chizikz is flaming?
Its not…
My response to the “Im i the only one that thinks he’s a bust” is no…there are a lot of people that think he is one..and I never said that i was one.
Doesnt matter…its hard to argue with fans who are delusional in their thinking..especially UT fans.

I didn’t say it was flaming, I said it was tacky. Which it is.
You’re really not acting differently from the folks who came to bama message boards when Saban was hired to talk about how dishonest he was, how he was going to be gone in a few years, etc.
Maybe you were hoping for “YA UcheaT fans r delushnil LOL”, which is fine — but let’s not pretend like you shouldn’t have known that pissing on their head coach wasn’t going to set them off.

There is one huge problem with this analysis. First, it’s “annual bowl revenue” and not "annual BCS bowl revenue.’ The power conferences send more teams to non-BCS bowls than the MWC or any other conference which doesn’t have an automatic bid to the BCS. For example, the MWC has only four conference tie-ins to bowls (Las Vegas, Poinsettia, Armed Forces, and New Mexico). The ACC has nine: (BCS, Chick-fil-A, Gator, Champs Sports, Music City, Meineke, Emerald, Humanitarian (I think this one has been replaced), and the EagleBank bowl)).
Further, bowls with power conferences pay more on average. Only the Las Vegas pays at least $1 million, whereas 6 pay at least a $1 million for the ACC. This increase had a lot more to do with having more bowl games than anything else. These extra bowl games usually selected teams from the power conferences, because well, a 7-5 Clemson will bring in more money than a 7-5 UTEP. Simply put, even without the BCS, the disparity would still be there. You also can’t argue that it’s collusion just because of a disparity. The Big Ten has nothing to do with the ACC’s selection into the Chick-fil-A bowl and the BCS certainly doesn’t have anything to do with the payouts of non-BCS bowls.
Further, the MWC doesn’t want a playoff. Part of going to a bowl game is the requirement to sell an allotment of tickets. Utah had to sell about 7,500 of their original 17,500 tickets to Alabama fans and the general public in order to ensure they didn’t end up losing money. And that was with four weeks of selling! Now, imagine if they only had one week (a playoff would have to start the very next week and probably have it’s championship around mid-December – like the other NCAA Divisions). Further, imagine if Utah had to do this to the 2-3 rounds of the Championship; now, imagine if one week the game was in Florida, the next in California, the next in New Orleans. It’s unlikely that a team that struggled to sell the allotment for one game will be able to sell it for another two on short notice.
No, the MWC wanted one of two things: an automatic bid of their own or to eliminate automatic bids. The MWC is more mad that Boise St. and TCU did not get in as well. The problem is that the BCS bowls also have long-standing traditional tie-ins with these bowls (example: ACC with the Orange). I’m not hearing the MWC willing to give up the Las Vegas bowl to replace a tie-in. The MWC is just being disingenuous when they said they wanted a playoff.
